Title: Your Favourite Scene From The Special
Description: place to rave bout what scene you loved.
madelinenancy - January 10, 2007 07:32 PM (GMT)
my favourite (not in terms of like sweetest or whatever, just generally which represented tone of special and gw in general) scene WAS: the suemac gun scene.
these are the reasons:
1) theyr my two favourite characters, represtnign both ends of the madness spectrum.
2) it is exactly the kind of humour gw revels in: shocking and tabooish at first, cynical about the state of mankind and the depths human can sink to ( a woman so obsessed with someone she wants to kill herself) and then SUDDENLY its that line... ' OR you could fall in love with someone else'. and suddenly, weirdly, it's ok. because i reckon gw is about partly having faith in people- as much as you want to be cynical, for all we know its very possible sue might not have even thought of that. mac's giving her a kind of permission to just let go.
and so it pulls out from that darkness into...
3)THE HANDBAG. genius. i swear to god, GENIUS.
so what are yours, ma mofos?

I quite agree with that Sue/Mac exchange being one of the best.
I also really liked the bit in the canteen with Guy, Caroline, Mac and Martin, particularly Mac's 'have I missed a spectacular promotion' and Guy's 'i keep forgetting your mine'. I thought in this scene the characters were the most 'themselves' in terms of their interactions.

I don't know! A shortlist:
- Martin's mime
- Mac telling Guy about his illness
- Mac, Guy and Caroline in surgery ("Why would I want to get into Dame Judi Dench's pants?"
- Mac proposing (I'm sorry! But there was a bananary kiss!)
- Martin talking to Mac about his death ("I heart you, Mac!")]
- Alan and Joanna in the caravan talking about games to play
- Everyone kissing the bride
- Sue and Mac in her office, with the handbag shooting
- Boyce getting shouted at
Argh. I can't decide.

i do think there's somehting wrong with me though... cos i was watching that scene and maximo park 'going missing' came on the radio and i STARTED CRYING. and all through the wedding i was cool as a cucumber! i suppose it got to me how theyr kind of the two most tragic characters in a WARPED crazy sort of way.
yeh i loved the cafeteria one two- the gw writers are really good at dynamics, i was pissing myself when mac leaned down to kiss caro on the cheek and guy grabbed her away, and when him and martin were trying not to pay attention while caro n guy were loudly kissing in the background
xjessx - January 10, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
I like it when guy say something like i keep forgettin your mine!!! Its soooo sweet!!
xX-Silver-and-Cold-Xx - January 10, 2007 09:00 PM (GMT)
i have to say it's just after the bit with the gun when the handbag drops down ... although i might have been imagining it :S ... but it was very funny .... and the Sue/Guy conversation if that wasnt real
guyoline - January 10, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
the sue/guy convo made me all sad
personally I prefer the deleted scenes as caroline has a harder time choosing who to marry and tires to get a sign and she she's guy on a peice of toast
and the bit where guy talks to the girl about the one
and martin was upset about the wedding and wanted meaning and then sue kissed him i was like: :o oh my gosh Karl said he wanted to get with sue  so that made me happy
but the best one is soo badly when sue proposes and kisses her again and says they can have a big lesbos wedding :roflmao
but i still love the mime :)
and oh statham's singing: daylight come and me want to go home :roflmao too good for words :)

macismygod - January 11, 2007 08:54 PM (GMT)
1 of my fave bits (nt frm the special bt frm the xtra's on the dvd) is when Guy goes "Theres still a space for a Mrs Secratan" and Caroline goes straight away "No i'll stick with Mac!" hehe love that bit
Port-ahh Lover - January 11, 2007 09:15 PM (GMT)
pfft.
is all i can say to you lot.
pfft. and pah.
it's all about Alan serenading Boyce on the phone and NOT SAYING HE LOVED HIM!!!
out of the entire special it was the ONLY bit that made me cry.
#hello,

guyoline - January 11, 2007 10:02 PM (GMT)
it was a truely beautiful scene
i started crying when that dude replacing statham told boyce off - it was like noo you can't do that to boyceee!!
Ducati 1000 - January 11, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
they are so sweet together, alan and boyce, as they may pretend they don't like each other they tuely need each other in the lives.
but the scene out of many that i cryed at the pub when mac tolled guy he was dieing. when they both start laughing and crying at the same time.

xjessx - January 11, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)

Mine was more of a trying to cry quitly, and be unnoticed!
guyoline - January 11, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
but it wasn't bloody fair which is why i kept saying it - I'm fuming now thinking about it!

QueenGW - January 12, 2007 11:11 PM (GMT)
i love loads of scenes but every now and again one just pops into mind
the 'i heart u' scene was soooooo cute like they rele loved each other!
oiyoupingpongman - January 14, 2007 12:54 AM (GMT)
Oh Boycie and alan phone convo!! When he was saying I just called to say...i just called to say...I was SHOUTING at the TV, You Love him! You LOOOOOVE HIM! I knew it!!!
Little_Simba - January 14, 2007 11:21 AM (GMT)
I loved the shooting the handbag down and having it slip straight up her arm but I'm sorry but the rest of the scene wasn't all that amazing, imo. Well, it wasn't the scene, itself, so much as the whole fact that Sue just was able to forget about Mac at the drop of a hat like that. I was disappointed because it just didn't seem right. It doesn't seem right that she has another boyfriend (who seems normal!!!!) and isn't bothered that Mac and Caroline are married. Sorry, just my opinion. :ph43r:
Scenes I really liked:
The canteen scene with the Guy trying to keep Caroline away from Mac (and the getting a coffee for her from someone sitting nearby  )
The replacement for Alan scene and the sad Boyce
The scene with Alan and Joanna on the grass bank
The scene when Mac broke the news to Guy when they were completely wasted
madelinenancy - January 14, 2007 12:56 PM (GMT)
just random thing: leading on from thing about sue, why wasnt CAROLINE upset particularly about mac dying????? i mean apart from a, come on, pretty pathetic 'you won't get awy with this' she seems remarkably unfazed- what do other people think? cos martin was inconsolable so was sue (see deleted scenes) and guy felt bad AND tried to find a cure.
why wasnt she more upset?
bingle - January 14, 2007 01:46 PM (GMT)
Another favourite line was Harriet's 'I like new Karen. Feisty.' I live the way she says it and the arm movements! Makes me chuckle a lot!

yeah i dont know why she wasnt :(
she should have been! tsk
but she did seem rather hurt when she spoke to him when the children were there
xX-Silver-and-Cold-Xx - January 14, 2007 01:53 PM (GMT)
I think she was pretty upset ... she was probably in shock ... lots of people react to bad news by getting angry ... like she did with Mac
QueenGW - January 14, 2007 03:46 PM (GMT)
yeah i reckon she was in denial or whatever
i actually loved sue whites song to mac hehe and i can blv she got over him because shes like that she could hav just been doing it to spite caro!
i loooove the scene with mac and guy wasted its awesom: you twat why are you dying one of the best lines!!!
amy - January 14, 2007 06:24 PM (GMT)
the pub scene! ahhh its so sad :(
