the hugest hype in the world - what did you lot think?


i didn't think it was bad. just not particularly funny. and not as great as it was cracked up to be.

I didnt even watch it thought it sounded like an awful idea to be honest not plot wise but they're implying that ugly people can only get jobs if theres an alternative motive ... for some reason i thought it seemed nasty and narsasistic .. but that just my opinion

Thankfully in my opinion the hype was very much worth it. I loved the show, I thought it had some fantastic drama moments, keeping me interested with the plot, and also some brilliant comic scenes. and awesome clothes (love the poncho!) so yeah, I guess I'll be outnumbered but I loved that!

I suppose i should watch a little before i state my opinion but i couldnt bring myself too it all seemed to be a little nasty .. might watch it next week see what i think then

Hmmmmmmm - was quite good though anyone else see the blaring similarity with The Devil Wears Prada??!!

havnt seen the devil wears prada - me and my mates were considering it then asked the guy who worked at the cinema to give us his advice and he told us to see it coz we're girls.

so we went to see the history boys instead lol!


i though the gay kid was class!

the cast is quite good.

i didn't actually find myself laughing though.

I haven't seen The Devil Wears Prada so I wouldn't know. It reminds me a chickflick, I'm almost tempted to place a bet on Betty falling in love with her boss and eventually (after many misunderstandings and whatnot) they end up together (but only after at least 4 series have been made cause this is American TV after all :rolleyes: ).

However, I thought it was OK and I'll definately watch it again, I think it's a slow grower.

its bound to happen. i mean, she split up with her bf, she's "ugly" but we can ALL see that with a change of wardrobe, loose the braces, change the hair, loose the glasses, it'll be "oh look! she's suddenly pretty" like a million teen movies. and he's sleeping with all these models - won't settle down.

i didnt mind Ugly Betty...didnt think it was as good as everyone was saying it would be...the 1 bit i did kind of enjoy was at the end where the guy who had hired Betty looked at her in a really lovy way and i kind of thort aww! and then i started thinking of Mac and got depressed again!

oooh i love the devil wears prada - but sadly we were out on friday when this was on so i missed it - i'm not too sure how good this looks i don't know if i'll bother with it

i didnt watch it on friday so i dont no wheter i will watch the rest or not

I did but I fell asleep during it...

It's not really going anywhere, and I don't really care about the characters that much. I doubt I shall watch any more of it (even tho I do think the actor who plays her boss is quite cute!)

i couldn't stay engaged. i ended up getting bored and coming on here again.

I didn't watch it last night because of that new programme on called Lilies. But I was going to watch the repeat tomorrow afternoon. I might not bother now :huh: Mind you I don't think I'll stick with watching Lilies either :unsure:

I quite like this show! I wasnt that impresswed with the 1st episode but this one was really good. I loved it when Bettys sister was fighting with that woman Gina about the $4000 and the book and pulled a bit of her weave out and says 'i guess we now owe you $4000....and 50 cents' - that cracked me up!

Yay I caught up with it the afternoon. I think it's quite sweet, even if all the characters are completely one dimensional, it's an ideal programme to watch for an hour on a Sunday afternoon - you don't need to think or concentrate at all. Unlike Waking The Dead tonight, which left me completely bambozzled after the first 5 minutes.

it is quite predictable but i think that's what i like about it in a strange way - oh, and i think someone mentioned how they were betting on betty getting with her boss, i'd just like to say it's so blooming obvious...it's not a bad show, but it is one way to pass the time...hopefully the storyline with spice up...

...one thing i'm personally loving is the fan fics i've read based on the show...

o mi god i went on wikipedia and it said that america ferrara died today!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got the biggest scare of my life but then i went on imdb and it didnt say that

oh its ok but i was all hoping it might replace the mighty gw in some way.

sadly, it doesn't even come close.

btw, who else thinks the stuff with the magazine is boring and heavy handed but all the stuff in Queens is ace? id be happy for it to just focus on her family...

Wow this programme is a big let down! last night especially.... i actually would have prefered it if she'd had a nice make over... it would have sped it all up!

and also... i stupidly forgot that Speed was on and watched Ugly Betty instead of it! :cry

i was at a friends last night and so I saw the last 10 mins of this and i didn't find it funny at all - just a bit stupid. I don't get what they are trying to do with it - they really have just taken the devil wears prada and kinda destroyed it. I didn't find it funny at all

and what's scary is when i finally got round to listening to the first 2 series 3 podcasts of Grey's anatomy I found out that Ugly Betty is like a huge hit show in the U.S - but WHY??? :blink:

How rediculous is the story line with Daniels Dad!

i spose cos of the spanish influences there... but it was made BEFORE devil wears prada, so. i dont think its that much of a hit though cos my friends there say everyones sorta given up on it

well the podcast was from when the show had just started in the US

and also the devil wears prada has been a book for a long time now and so they would have gotten their ideas from that...

...slash the original columbian soap with a spanish name that has been going for who knows how long. its like the CHICKEN and the EGG question...

How did they get that 11 year old boy (or is he 12) to act so gay. Surely it's against the USA child protection laws, or something :unsure: he is good though :lol:

haha was so funni, was at a frends house hu has a little brother and my frend said "that little boy in Ugly Betty reminds me of my brother" and she turned around and her brother was standing there and he got really upset and ran off crying and she just said "my point exactly" hehe

The little boy's very good - he's the bets part, I'd say. :D

am I the only person that loves this show? hee hee, did not watch it to start with infact had no intention of watching it but got into the whole daniel and betty story and wnt them together so since its american we all know they are going to get together but its gonna b dragged out over many years, she will go oot we henry then finally daniel, don't think I can wait that long ggrrr.
