Title: Anti-request finished
Description: Colored ver. of UsagiJin's work
Runegrace - April 4, 2006 02:02 AM (GMT)
UsagiJin permitted me to color one of his works, so here's the result! The technical part of the drawing was supposed to be a glowing effect over the body due to the flame, but I couldn't get it right, so the white makes it look sort of plain. It just looked more like stains than glow...if anyone knows how to make that sort of effect look good, I'd love to hear it!
Anyways, it was done kind of fast and I didn't really do any line-cleaning since I can have more fun with it when I'm not being too precise. But, I enjoyed doing it and think it turned out pretty well. Hope you like it.
UsagiJin - April 4, 2006 05:30 AM (GMT)
I like it. ^_^
Though...the stuff twisting around the flame is water...lol
I dunno, I hadn't ever thought of coloring her like that...but I think it looks great. And as far an a glow...I'd make it blur the farther it got from the sorce of light, but cancel by virtue of the intensity to pure white at the closest spots to the flame...though the size of the white splotches would fade and eventually dissappear as you went father down, and therefor away from the flame. :D
Runegrace - April 4, 2006 06:13 AM (GMT)
Glad you liked it! ^_^
I tried using a transparant layer, then using a gaussian blur to make the fading effect...but it just looked wrong. Ah, I'm not very experienced with art programs... Heh. Looks like my interpretation was a bit off as well. I guess you get what you pay for, eh?
Your art's fun to work on, though. I'd be happy to work on another one sometime, if you'd like. Although I'll probably need a description so I can be a bit more accuracte ^_^
Dwarf - April 4, 2006 04:07 PM (GMT)
That's a very good coloring job. I'd just suggest not blurring it so much as it gets hard to see the drawing. Anyways, very nice job.
Runegrace - April 5, 2006 01:30 AM (GMT)
Aheh. Yeah, I should try to adjust the pixel range on the blur a bit more. I didn't realize that it didn't look so good until after I had finished with all the shading and such, so I decided to just finish with it like that. Next time I'll try to take a bit more pride in my work...
Dwarf - April 6, 2006 12:30 AM (GMT)
Heh, it's okay. I used to blur my old works, because I dind't like how they'd turn out.
UsagiJin - April 7, 2006 06:45 AM (GMT)
Try to just use the blur a little bit for blending, but not for a gradient. ^_^
And I would be ecstatic if you did more of them. If you need descriptions, just note me with the name of the piece. I should be putting up more soon as I line up a scanner...
Runegrace - April 11, 2006 12:11 AM (GMT)
Attempt number two! Another artwork of Usagijin's. The background is supposed to be a surreal autumn thing...I like it, as well as how the concrete bench turned out. I tried a bit harder and textured things this time around. Oh, she's wearing nylons by the way. Man, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Hope everyone enjoys it! ^_^
UsagiJin - April 11, 2006 06:52 AM (GMT)
Okay...that's so awesome it drips with succulentness! :D
Seeing it colored, and so well like that...I'm beyond description. ^_^

Nogard's Jester - April 14, 2006 04:05 AM (GMT)
The first one: Meh-ish, but interesting.
The second one: G'job man. I couldn't have done any better with the colors myself and I'm sure many others around here appreciate the skill and focus you, and UsagiJin, put into this and other works.
UsagiJin - April 20, 2006 03:33 AM (GMT)
That's okay...
Based on critiques, this is not my best work...and I'm sure my new buddy RG here will do just as fantastic a job on my better works. B)
Runegrace - April 20, 2006 04:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I saw some of the critique on the lineart. I for one, think the porportions look fine. Umm...impossibly large, but very fine ^_^ The one finger does look broken, though. It bugged me when I was working on it. :P
I've been trying to do my own art for the moment (poorly), since I won't have access to a scanner come summer. Although I'll be attempting more works later on, after I'm finished with my stuff.
UsagiJin - April 20, 2006 04:30 AM (GMT)
Sounds cool. I wouldn't mind seeing some of your work. ^_^
And if you do color another of my works soon, I think the guys around here would probably wanna see Fetishism, though I'd be routing for a picture of Ten first...probably. ^_^
UsagiJin - May 10, 2006 09:10 AM (GMT)
How about a request for the Anti-Request thread? lol
Now I know it's not inflation...but I just drew a picture of my persona here...and I was hoping you might color it if I posted it.
I desperately need something better than the Paint attrocity I have now... <_<
Runegrace - May 10, 2006 05:47 PM (GMT)
Sure! Just post it here or on dA and I'll pick it up. Oh, and be sure to specifiy any colors, style etc. that you would like to be used.
UsagiJin - May 11, 2006 08:35 AM (GMT)
He's got kinda tan skin, hair the same gray as a battleship (almost, it also has darker gray highlights) and sapphire blue eyes. Also, the fur on his rabbit-ears would be a grayish-brown.

Thanks ahead of time. ^_^
Oh, and you'll have to remove the hatching I did in order to shade his fur and such...
Runegrace - May 11, 2006 05:11 PM (GMT)
Alright, got it. I should have it done in a couple of days.
UsagiJin - May 12, 2006 07:20 AM (GMT)
Thanks. ^_^
And if I've not been to pushy so far...could I ask for an avatar sized copy aswell, so I can use it...my lack of editing software keep me from making avatars aswell... <_<

UsagiJin - May 13, 2006 05:59 AM (GMT)
Well, what seemed suggestive pretty-much is... ^^;
He's a rabbit...do the math...lmao. My idea was for the ultimate breeder, since the concept was made when I tried to join a pregnancy forum... ^_^
I think it looks great. Though, I think it looks better without pupils, for some reason... Though, the fullsize looks good with pupils...
Thanks muchly. :D
Runegrace - May 14, 2006 07:48 AM (GMT)
Hmm...that's what I thought. But, I figured that if I assumed that it was, and it turned out to not be what you intended...yeah... I'm going to ask to not be requested to do that sort of stuff again, though. It just crosses my comfort zone a bit too much...
Anyways, I really liked the muscle work you did. It was really detailed and fun to go through. That's my favorite part of the finished piece. ^_^ I wasn't sure if you wanted detail in the eyes or not, since the lineart had clear eyes. Which for coloring purposes, is really quite awesome. At a higher resolution, I can do some really neat stuff with eye coloring, I think! Well, I'm getting better at it, anyways. Although the lower file size made it a bit easier, so I could enjoy myself a bit more on the rest of it, though.
I need to find a better way to do fur... The ears don't seem to convey much fuzzy-ness to me.
I thought that the playboy bunny-ish necklace was a nice touch, though. Well, at first I didn't know what it was, but after working on it that's what sort of jumped out at me. I even gave a slight eye to it! I came up with a neat trick to get the chain to be grey as well... Anyways, your lineart was very clean, and your lines were very bold and defined. It made it very easy to work with. Thanks for the material, and glad that you liked the result!
UsagiJin - May 16, 2006 10:09 AM (GMT)
I'll remember your request...
And by what you said, I should be able to do much more work you'll enjoy working on... :D
Thanks for the compliments...the necklace was a bit of a funny afterthought...lol. But I'm proud of it. ^_^ And I have to say...I'm glad you liked the anatomy, as I've been working to refine it in my drawings for a long time.
Oh, and the crispness of the lines is thanks to the inking. I find that if I ink, and then play with the brightness and contrast, I can come up with a very crisp and clean line.... ^_^
Dwarf - May 16, 2006 11:07 AM (GMT)
Ultimate breeder... a rabbit... heh, makes sense. I'd buff him a bit more, myself, but oh well... :P
NIce coloring job, Rune.
UsagiJin - May 17, 2006 07:36 AM (GMT)
Thanks. ^_^
And I prefered a more 'x-games' athletic build, and speedy look... 'Course, you'd buff anything, wouldn't ya' Dwarf? :P
Wazzup! - May 25, 2006 08:52 PM (GMT)
Your pretty good at the coloring thing. I can't wait to see more, if you still do em.
Runegrace - May 25, 2006 11:30 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but I don't have a scanner to do my own work at the moment, so I need line art to work with. Also, I'm going to be gone for quite a long time, so maybe I should note that in the away thread...
UsagiJin - May 27, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
Maybe. ^_^
Gonna miss ya'...and if you feel like coloring anything else of mine, feel free. :D
