Description: I have a few o' me own pictors...
Nogard's Jester - November 5, 2005 02:03 AM (GMT)
I have some of my own pictires, but there's a problem.....I don't know how to scan the pictures onto my computer. Does anyone know how to scan images onto their computer with a Lexmark X63 Printer/Fax? I lost the instruction phamplet two weeks after I got it.......it was like several years ago dudettes and non-dudettes.....

If you still have the instalation CDs, just run them on your computer, and hook the scanner to it.
It should just install direcly. After that is done, it will install some icon that calls the scanner program to allow you to scan images and save in files or opening it on drawing programs.
If the instalation dosen't work, you may need to find help from someone near where you live, maybe a tech.

Good news bad news all.
The good news is that I have been working on a few new pics which I plan to post on my Deviant Art site [I am Nogards-Jester on DevArt].
The bad news is I still haven't finished a few of them and I still only partly understand how to scan using my printer.
But wait, I have more good news! I am taking requests for what people here want me to draw, request away my fellow inflateratoriancianseeds, and fellow FIR people too!

animenerd - March 9, 2006 07:38 PM (GMT)

SOMEBODY TELL HIM ABOUT THE PIC POSTING ALREDY!!!!!
NW330 - March 9, 2006 11:48 PM (GMT)
To post on dA all you need to do is click Submit when signed in (it's towards the top) and then just choose the appropriate categories for whatever you plan to submit for a picture.
Then write the keywords, title, description, and then choose the image on your computer to submit.
And you can submit a Kagome pic, nothing against fan art. No copywrite infringement unless you started going around saying you made her to begin with.
Nogard's Jester - March 10, 2006 12:26 AM (GMT)
Tis not about the law, just about my comfort drawing them, plus I always ruin Kagome's head..............
Thanks NW330
Anyway, just one more question before I post a pic or such, What does it mean by 'Select a Preview'?
NW330 - March 10, 2006 01:07 AM (GMT)
Sometimes people will have a preview image.
This is just a tiny (100x100 pixels I think) image that is meant to be a tiny preview to the real drawing.
Usually people use a characters head and then you click that preview image and you get a full view of that image.
You don't have to use a preview image though. I don't usually do that.
Nogard's Jester - March 10, 2006 01:13 AM (GMT)
Yes but it says I HAVE TO select a preview image for my sketches.....
NW330 - March 11, 2006 04:19 PM (GMT)
You have to...usually that means the filesize is too small or something along those lines.
Runegrace - April 30, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
Jester, are you still having trouble with it? You don't seem to have any deviations or scraps on your dA account, so I assume so. Alright, here's the walk-through on how to submit something on dA. I'll go through all of it, just to make sure that nothing is overlooked.
First of all, be logged in and all that. At the top is the "submit" button. Press. Next, select deviation or scrap. Scraps will just be an abriged version of this, so I'll go through deviations. Click the "deviation" radio button, then click "continue".
Choose the style of art. My guess is that you'll probably choose Traditional Art, if it's lineart, or Digital Art, if you've done a lot of coloring and effects with an art program. Next, choose sub-sections based on what you think your drawing fits under. The amount of sub-sections will be based on what categories you place things under. At the end, review the sections to see that your art fufills the categories for the most part, then click "Yes" to continue.
Now, give your work a title, and a description for people to read when they view the work. Keywords are used when using dA's Search function, so put things in there that you think would be appropiate. I normally just look at the drawing and list all the words that pop into my head when looking at it... Anyways, set the level of critique you'd like, as well the settings buttons below as needed. Click "Continue".
For the File, click "Choose File" to pick the file that you want to upload. You can also pick a preview if you'd like. Some cases may be questionable subject matter, or if you want to just avoid potential flaming. However, if your deviation is not a JPEG or PNG format, then you must include a Preview file no larger than 100x100 pixels.
You mentioned having problems with this step, so check to see what file type your picture is. .jpg will be just fine, but .gif or .tif or whatever other file type will require a preview image. So either create a preview image for your work, or convert the image into the the appropiate file format. Chances are, whatever program you use to view images will have a "Save As", and when saving it you should be able to change the file type there. If not, let me know and I may be able to offer more help from there.
Anyways, then just continue on to submit your deviation. Just post or contact me if you have any more problems with it.
Nogard's Jester - May 8, 2006 10:40 PM (GMT)
I got zero ideas of how to get a preview image up. And my scanner, hm.....maybe I could change the types there. I'll try changing the images, but till then I can't stick em anywhere, not even on an email, maybe I should try using www.putfile.com or something................

Maybe you should mix some of those...
Like: "Inflation art, RAWR!", or "Full view, click please..." lmao :D
And I still suggest www.imageshack.us for hosting...and if you're trying to get a tumbnail for devArt, then you just need to upload it with the picture where it asks you...or just let it do its thumbnail-thing. ^_^

ALRIGHT!!!! I HAVE HAD IT!
I FINALLY HAVE EVERYTHING UP AND RUNNING, AND NOW I CAN'T TRANSFER IMAGES ON MY COMPUTER ANYWHERE!.....Sorry 'bout that.......But seriously! I can finally use a preview image, thanks Runegrace, I finally have some nice pictures ready to boot, none inflation related left [bad auto-delete function], and my computer is almost back to regular running speed, but for some reason my computer's save files that are images are alway just F:/ and that's not enough data to get an image up and running, and I've tried going to image properties as well, but still nothing...
Can someone please help me with my image setup? Or has fate conspired against me to never allow my art on the internet?..............
Runegrace - May 30, 2006 04:32 PM (GMT)
Is it still the image format that's giving you trouble? If you have any art programs, the "save as" should be able to save it as a different format. If you don't have anything that can do that, then download
GIMP. Just open the image in the program, "save as", and then choose the file extension (.jpg). It may ask if you want to export the image (say yes), what quality (100 if it's already scaled down), and just where to save to.
