Dobro vecé
My name is Morten i come from Denmark , I was in Zirovac 93/94 as a unprofor soldier, we had some very good connections with the locals there during my stay, i think the local people was very nice to us, we were always welcome and we got taste a lot of slivovic wich was very strong :-) i liked the area very much and i went back there in 1998 but i was very chocked to see the empty city. there was a man in the milicia named draz he was very nice and there was and old man who lived about one kilometer from the school if you took the little dirt road straight ahead he had some very thick glasses he was very very nice man .
Today im married to a serbian girl named Dragana she comes from Uzice
Greetings to you all

Hi Morten,

welcome to the Dvor bulletin board. Things have improved somewhat since 1998 when you visited Dvor (Zirovac) last time, although the whole area is still pretty empty, mostly elderly people returned to their homes because younger generations either decided to emigrate to European and North American countries or stayed in those cities/countries where they could find employment to support their families. As you may have guessed economic situation in the municipality of Dvor is not very good. The post war tensions between the local Serbs and Croats have subsided (albeit they still exist) but the migration of the local Serbian population that took place in 1995 was so vast that it will leave a demographic scar on the Croatian demographic map for several more decades.
It make us, people born in Dvor, glad to hear that you have had positive experience with the local people during your tenure in the war-struck region in the 90ties. Most Serbs and Croats are genuinely generous and warm-hearted people but like any other ethnic group on this planet we are not immune to effects of manipulation and indoctrination, we have many things to be proud of and a few things to work on when it comes to life in multicultural and multiethnic societies.
I think you should come to Dvor again with your family and spend a week or more on the Una River, fishing and swimming, maybe do some rafting from Bihac to Novi (Dvor) and later tell your friends. Dvor needs tourists, and eventually more and more people will decide to go and live there too.
Best regards!

Hei, Morten.
