You know in manga and doujinshi, the patterns that are used to shade things? What exactly are they, a computer program or what? I want to know how to use them, but I need to know what they are!! Google hasn't been much help, either ...

All I know is that they're called screentones/pentones ... :unsure:

they're like, this sticky stuff. You peel off the back and stick them to your drawings, like stickers! Yeah, big stickers! You cut the shape out want out of a sheet and then apply it to your picture
I've never actually used them, but I've read about 'em in my How to Draw Manga Books, an' I wanna get the book on how to use tones. I've always wanted to try...

I thought they be like that ... they'd be so hard to apply though!! You need tiny knives and stuff, oh darnit!! :angry:

Well, yeah. That is how it is. They're just like...sorta like stickers. But you have to be careful because there's more than 100 screentones to choose from. Also, they're not very expensive, quite affordable but when there's a lot of screentones you want, trust me...your wallet will be empty. You have to buy one of those manga knifes....I'm not sure what's the official name for it but that's what I called it. You also need one of those burnisher to make it stick on to your paper. If you have a computer and scanner, you can scan them to your comp. and just used it from there. I think there are sites that people have scan their own screentones that you can use.
