Title: Student Arrested For Fiction
Description: Can you believe this!?

Lady Anime - March 2, 2005 03:49 AM (GMT)
Someone at another fourm made a thread about this, so I'm making a thread about this here.

I just cannot believe this

I think what happened was kind of unfair. What's your perspective on this?

Kaldea - March 2, 2005 04:01 AM (GMT)
...Writing a story about zombies in your school is terroristic now?

They might as well arrest everyone who writes fanfiction too then. <_<

Real_Emotion - March 2, 2005 04:15 AM (GMT)
 Arrested for just writing a story about zombies? How is that a terrorist threat?

Well, from what I read, looks like the 'authorities' had gone too far. I think they're overreacting, due to the nation still on a terrorist alert and all. If writing a fictional story(about a highschool over run with zombies no less) is a felony in Kentucky, I am never going there.

Kusari Yarou - March 2, 2005 05:27 AM (GMT)
Well, I understand that they're on the lookout for any terrorist possibilities due to the scare that's been going on. But to take an innocent high school kid into custody because of a story? There are real terrorists out there and the authorities should stop wasting their time on a harmless work of fiction and go hunt them instead.
I can't believe the guy's grandparents. How could they turn him in like that?

I Agree. Instead of jumping to conclusions, they should have asked him of why he had a story like that in his book, instead of thinking.... OMG He's a terrorist lets get the authorities involved! :ph43r: I feel sorry for him, instead of the authorities catching those who are a real threat, they are going around chasing fictional stories!

Sefie - March 2, 2005 08:28 PM (GMT)
 That...is seriously one of the stupidest things I have EVER heard. He didn't even write it about his own highschool! And it was zombies! ZOMBIES!!! What kind of terrorist writes stories about ZOMBIES!?
And what were his grandparents doing going through his journal?

Enima - March 3, 2005 12:08 PM (GMT)
Oh my, this is just stupid, why would they arrest a boy writing fiction for? Come on, even in the school , my friends wrote more serious fiction than that and hey, I wrote fiction for my SPM oral exam :ph43r: . What's wrong with those people?

If they are willing to arrest a boy for writing fiction about that zombies, the police and authorities should arrest the whole school while they're at it. I bet there are many boys or girls who write fiction like that or maybe of worse things.

I really feel sorry for the boy, hopefully the authorities realize that they're making a huge mistake and release him. :(

Carmencita - March 3, 2005 12:26 PM (GMT)
Goodness. If I lived in Kentucky (that was the place, right?), I'd be in jail right now. :ph43r:

People are so paranoid, it's annoying.

UsagiMamoru - March 4, 2005 02:03 AM (GMT)
I feel so sorry for that kid. I heard about that story in a few places and someone has to pay a 5000 dollar bail to get him out. I feel like writting a letter to the poor kid letting him know that we are there for him.

Tifa Lockheart - March 13, 2005 04:30 AM (GMT)
It's amazing what paranoia can make the older generation do to the members of our generation. <_<

I pity them.

Seii Monogatari - March 13, 2005 06:43 AM (GMT)
WTF? That's ludicrous! I can't understand his grandparents either, but ... they took it as a serious threat when the paper was based around zombies? And $5000?

I'll say it again: WTF?

UsagiMamoru - March 22, 2005 03:30 AM (GMT)
I feel so sorry for the boy. His whole life and reputation is ruined because of his grandparents. The poor kid. Those grandparents had no right to read that boy's journal and call him a terrorist because of a story he wrote. We all read stories like that and write all sorts of stories. I'm still extremely upset at what they did to that kid. I feel like goign there and sticking up for that kid. That kid should sue his grandparents for more then jsut defamation of character, they ruined his whole life.

Cloudsgirl - April 17, 2005 06:42 PM (GMT)
He was arrested for that?! What a bunch of BS! I'd get myself a lawyer sue the whole police force and move far away from my grandparents if I were that guy. Poor kid.

kyra_leonheart - April 18, 2005 06:00 PM (GMT)
If heīs a terrorist for writing a fic with Zombies, then I should be arrested too!
And his grandparents? If mine had done anything like that to me I will never talk to them again.
Cīmon, when he gets out and they realize this was all a mistake (and I hope all the gods in the sky help him) he will never be the same. He will be ashamed of have being arrested. Who will pay for that? Thatīs a real terrorist act!

eyes of a fighter - April 20, 2005 03:28 AM (GMT)
OMFG i write worse storys than that. im hiding my journal with all my stuff in it somewhere no one can find it. Whos more terrist the kid whos life is practicley ruined or the freakin judge and all the rest of the people that gave him a 5000 thousand doller fine. This pisses me off so much I thought it was a free countrey
damn police need to catch real terrist

Materia Thief - April 20, 2005 05:50 AM (GMT)
Wow...zombies. I write stories about assassins and gang wars in my hometown, so obviously I think that's rather stupid. It's ZOMBIES for goodness sakes, such as in Resident Evil. I can't believe that they would arrest him for such BS charges.

EnglishRose - June 19, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
zombies? isnt that a bit O.T.T? whats wrong with writing about zombies. why dont the police arrest me? i write stuff like that. why dont they arrest wesley snipes for being in blade? he fights vampires.

the thing i cant believe most is the fact that his grandparents, would turn their own flesh and blood in like that. what kind of family are they?

Aerith's_Man - June 20, 2005 05:10 AM (GMT)
Oh wow what a bunch a BS.

So writing about anything in about a school can be terroistic now?

Even so, police say the nature of the story makes it a felony. "Anytime you make any threat or possess matter involving a school or function it's a felony in the state of Kentucky," said Winchester Police detective

What a buch a crap!!! They might as well arrest everyone now I mean hell, lots of things involve schools. I mean friggin Resident Evil apocolypse had violence in a school so now what whatch someone get arrested for saying school sucks. That is crap.

Aurora - June 20, 2005 05:48 PM (GMT)
That's absolutely ridiculous. The police in my opinion are the real zombies going after an innocent kid like that. Whatever happened to our personal rights? Plus, it wasn't like his story was published or anything.....they said his grandparents found it in his journal. And it was a short story written for school. One time I wrote a story about students being chased by an evil witch for my English class... ya'll neva get me ya coppers!!!!!!!!!

That's like me posting in my livejournal that I'm gonna go after the stupid preps in my school with chainsaws. XD NO, I'm not really going to do it. I just write it as a joke when I'm pissed off. I'd be damned if the cops would arrest me for saying that.

FinalfantasyForeverx3 - January 31, 2006 02:55 AM (GMT)
That is totally and utterly idiotic.Talk about way-over-the-top borderline invasion of privacy. But than there's the other issue, what kind of grandparents would go through their grandchilds things, and if they were "so concerned",why not talk abut it.TURNING your grandchild in for a severe "threat" is ridiculous, these people must have something against his parents, because there's no logical explanation. :ermm:

Nevi - January 31, 2006 04:32 AM (GMT)
Poor kid. I feel so sorry for him.

But it seems like Kentucky is on high zombie terrorist alert, so I can see Kentucky's zombie-paranoid view. [/sarcasm]

LeaveOnYourBrightLights - January 31, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
Maybe the zombies have doughnuts.

WTF though, thats most uncool!!

Inuyatta - February 1, 2006 08:27 AM (GMT)
...Oh god...must..refrain...from...illiteracy jab at kentucky!

But yes, seriously, they're stupid. All this time, money and effort they're wasting going after a kid who writes stories could be better spent going after a REAL criminal.

Frickin' morons. <_<

I read an account of someone lambasting Bush very severely on their LJ (friends-locked, though, as far as I could tell, which means it wasn't for public viewing and that only makes what happened even more creepy)-- threatening bodily harm and all that stuff. The sort of threats people make when they're unbelievably angry but don't actually act on in the end.

He/she got a visit from the government several days later.

Schala - February 10, 2006 08:01 PM (GMT)
I didn't know one could be arrested for writing zombie stories. Just because it involves schools that makes it a terrorist threat? In that case, I expect a lot of people will be in trouble... including me. I sympatize with the kid, especially since it was his own family who turned him in.

goddess_in_pink07 - February 11, 2006 04:33 AM (GMT)
Zombie's?
what the heck! They aren't even real.
What is this world coming to.....

Bremic - February 15, 2006 01:25 AM (GMT)

Wow... that's got to be the most pathetic excuse for arrest that I've ever heard of... a story about zombies... wth? How is that a terrorist threat...? *sigh* What's this world comming to?

Sora G. Strife - April 26, 2008 05:04 AM (GMT)
What a pathetic excuse to get a kid arrested. Then sue fanfiction sites, I say. I can't believe these guys. In fact, I just sprayed Coke all over my screen because of this.

Holee Smokes Thats Stupid!
Ive Never Heard About This. That Poor Dood :(

Wintercream - April 27, 2008 03:19 AM (GMT)
So does this mean if I write a story about Alchemy, I am being blastphemous? And my vampire story is now illegal?

They are stupid and going to far now. That violates his right to freedom of speech.
