Title: Ac's Ending
Description: The end of Cloud's story?

Anastar - March 1, 2005 05:13 PM (GMT)
I'm beginning to wonder what the end of AC will mean for Cloud. Will it be the end of his story? If so, will it mean his death?

Square can't please everyone with the resolution of Cloud's story. They have to resolve Cloud's story in a way that will make people want to play DC, too. Cloud almost has to be present in DC in some form, or I think that will turn a lot of people off to the story. Even if Cloud dies in AC, there will almost have to be flashbacks of Cloud, Vincent talking about Cloud's search for forgiveness, Vincent finishing off the SHM for Cloud, or something that has to do with Cloud in DC.

What if Square does something like have AC end with Cloud frozen in time or something like that? I'm wondering if Square might do something where Cloud and Sephiroth get left in another dimension with one another at the end of AC. They are arch-rivals. Cloud seems to regain his strength once he learns that Sephiroth is involved in what the SHM are doing. Sephiroth also seems bent on Cloud's destruction.

What if Square leaves Cloud and Sephiroth at the end of AC in a state of perpetual rivalry with one another in a part of the Lifestream or an alternate genetic dimension, or something like that? Square could avoid a direct answer to the Love Triangle that way, as well as leaving a cliffhanger for DC that everyone would want to see. I'm sorta suspicious that Square might have something like that in mind for the ending of AC to draw us into DC and CC.

Mmm, good question, Anastar ^^...

In my opinion Cloud and Sephiroth have and special "bound", which means that until one of them dies, the other wonīt do that... If Cloud lives in AC, sephiroth will "live"... Hey, SE want to make money after all ŽŽ... And if Cloud dies, the Sephiroth will die, too... I canīt see Sephiroth vs. Vincent  ... I think itīs the form to close the "circle"...

In DC Vincent is the main character, yeah, and there are a lot of Vincent fans. I would like to see Cloud and Aeris in this game, of course, but, like Nomura said, itīs a Vincent game... Maybe Cloud will appear in flashbacks or perhaps he will "guide" Vincent, like Aeris is doing with Cloud in AC now, or something similar... And I think SHM will survive in AC... At least Yazoo and Loz will survive... Itīs a 90 mins film and they cant tell to us the appearance and defeat of Sephiroth, Jenova, Bahamut and the three SHM...

Although Cloud isnīt there, I will play to DC...

Itīs all and sorry for the mistakes U.U

That's similar to the idea I'm basing this conjecture on, Aerith_kun. I agree that there's some kind of genetic bond between them. The AC poster with Cloud and Sephiroth on it and the logo between them clearly shows pools of genetic material between them, with Cloud and Sephiroth both dissolving into it.

That's what got me thinking about this. I can easily see a final act of revenge against Sephiroth/Jenova as part of Cloud's search for forgiveness and the resolution of his guilt. I doubt that Cloud will be able to forgive himself or get rid of his guilt until he has ultimately defeated both of them, perhaps for Aerith.

If so, I can easily see Cloud locked in a cliffhanger at the end of AC in an ultimate battle between he and Sephiroth that somehow leads into the plot of DC.

But didnīt DC happen 1 year after AC events?? O.O... I donīt think Sephiroth or Jenova will live 1 whole year without the world being "destroyed"... And this game will be about Vincent, in my opinion Cloudīs story will be finished in AC... At least I hope so U.U...

You made a good point here, Anastar ^^

I think the end of AC will be the end of Cloud's story. If Nomura said that AC was Cloud's story and DC is Vincent's, I can't see Cloud having the same kind of role he has in AC in Vincent's game. I think there will be a real conclusion for Cloud at the end of AC. But to see him be locked away with Sephiroth in some other dimension isn't like Square. They want to make a huge impact on the player, and with how AC is turning out to be, they are going to try to make the ending as memorable as possible, and to me, the biggest impact I could have is watching Cloud die and finally having peace.

I don't think Cloud's death will affect people wanting to play DC much either. With absolutely no sign of Cloud's involvement just yet, Square hasn't set up for people to expect Cloud's presence in the game. So right now, the people who want to play the game will want to play it for Vincent or just the continuation of the FFVII saga. Or if people really want to see Cloud again, I am sure they would play just to see if he gets mention or even an appearance. I think Square is confident in people wanting to play their games as they are, because FF fans are mainly fans because of how fun the games are. So I think DC will be judged by how well all the aspects of the game tie into each other since it will be backed up by some serious hype.

So yeah, I think there is a very good chance of Cloud's story reaching a serious conclusion and not just more fighting for the future. If it were that way, I would find AC to be lacking a bit. I'm expecting an ending that will leave me feeling it for a few months after and I know of all gaming companies, Square is the most capable of creating that for me.

They better have Cloud find peace at the end, dammit. <_<

I agree completely with you, Cloudīs Girl... I hope AC will have a memorable and closed ending... An ending which has some impact into the audience. I donīt want other FFVII story in AC... If Sephiroth comes back and Cloud defeates him, it would be the same story but in a 90 mins film... ŽŽ... And DC will be a Vincentīs game and CC will be a game situated just before the story of FFVII... So nothing new about Cloud there...

And, the most important thing to me, I hope Cloud has the peace and happiness at the end ^^

I agree that at least part of Cloud's story will be resolved in AC - primarily his guilt. I think Cloud being able to forgive himself is tied to defeating Sephiroth/Jenova or preventing Sephiroth/Jenova from overtaking the Planet.

However, Jenova cells still exist in DC. Jenova cells can exist independently of Jenova's head, but Jenova cells are still on the Planet. We know this because SOLDIERs who were trapped underground by Meteor are what Vincent is up against. Whether or not Sephiroth and/or Jenova survive AC, there are still Jenova cells on the Planet. We also don't know whether the SHM survive AC.

Like you said, it's likely that at least one villain won't survive AC. That's most likely to be Sephiroth, since he's Cloud's arch-rival. Yet, I still wonder whether part of Cloud's story won't be held for resolution in DC. To bring in some sort of cliffhanger at the end of AC would bring an awfully large amount of players to DC. They may very well do something like that.

I also expect Cloud's story to have an impact in AC, and his death would bring the greatest impact to the movie. I think it's likely to happen for that reason. Yet, I still think there will be something left unresolved in his story and carried over to DC.

i we all want a good ending for the movie right?
lets just hope it does ruin the thing for cloud and aeris you know? :/
or anything like that that make us sad in some-way :ermm:

Like you have said, Anastar, part of the AC plot will be in DC story (I think so, too)... But in my opinion it would be Jenova and the SHM (Yazoo and Loz, or maybe one of this two, because I think Kaddaj will die in AC U.U). I donīt see Cloud vs. Sephiroth or something like that in DC... Itīs nothing about Vincent, but Cloud, and DC will be about Vincent...

And maybe a brief appearance of Cloud and Aeris will be in DC, too (at least I hope so ^^)
