I was just carrying out my daily round of brain-atrophying activities when I stumbled onto this on the Entertainment Weekly website:

Well, I can't say that they really wanted to show Cleris as canon. Let's say that this scene is the most famous FF7 CG scene along with the Sephiroth standing in the flames scene and Aerith's death is one of the most important thing that makes FF7 special ( plus this Cloud burying Aerith scene is even on the back cover of FF7... the european one anyway * what a spoiler :cloud: , just like in the TV commercial, if they wanted the game to surprise us, they totally spoiled us Aerith's death* ).

This is one of the most memorable scenes in FFVII, though they may not be saying CANON CANON, it certainly shows that Cloud and Aerith is what you think of when you say FFVII lol, along with Sephy also hehe

Even if it's not saying anything about the canon couple of FFVII, just that I think they used that particular image since Aerith's death was one of the most memorable moments in video game history, it's still a focus on Cloud and Aerith image-wise! ^_^
