Title: Aerith In Cc
Description: About her in general

AerithGainsborough - July 4, 2008 07:05 PM (GMT)

Sorry if there is already a topic like this.I just want to talk about how much different Aerith is in CC compared to VII and AC-even KH- If my topic is a bit strange ,sorry.I saw a topic about Zacks hair ,so I thought mine would be ok.

*Maybe it's just me but does any one else think Aeriths clothing is really cute?
It's cute to me because it looks like she is trying to match the sky.
Blue=sky and White=Clouds

I know Aerith really wants to see the sky in CC ,so maybe that's the reason they chose to make her in blue/white dress,

Or What if Nomura is trying to hint to us that Aerith and Cloud complete each other in a way.
Aerith wants to see the sky and Cloud shows her that sky.
Not to mention his name goes with the sky.
Cloud is Aeriths sky.The sky she always wanted to see,And isn't Aerith represented with water? Well water comes from the Clouds. it's an endless circle of them being tide together lol I heard that Nomura wanted to make Aerith in WHite and Blue to show her "light" (??)

But in CC I kinda got a sad vibe off of her. Then I look at VII,MoTP,AC,KH,ect I see Aerith is really cheerful and upbeat.

why did they change her great personality to this sad persona ?

I brought this topic up because there isn't enough discussion about her or CC.
Maybe we can all try to figure out some of the hidden hints in the game.
I guess I just find it Cute Aerith wants to see the sky and Cloud is named "Cloud" .

*shrugs*
What do you all think about Aerith in CC?

I guess it is vital to note how Aerith does seem quite "different" in Crisis Core. She still heralds her innate ablity to read people alongside her high emotional intelligence and empathic nature, but is still quite blunt in voicing her opinions (disliking the flower cart, her open disapproval of Soldier) yet she does seem more meloncoly. In some instances, she even reminded me slightly of Tifa. She seems to brighten up as the game progresses, and we see more of the Aerith we love-bright, forthcoming and flirty. Maybe it was her connection with Zack, a long missed friendship, (considering the fact she was lonely) that spun her up a bit.

From what I saw, she seemed not so different to the FF7 Aerith.
Of course that she had changed between the 2 game but she's still Aerith... I find her hopeful and flirty in Crisis Core, just like in FF7. The only thing is that Zack is her first love, one of the first important experience she had in life... and the sad thing is that Zack couldn't be by her side very often and his job was dangerous. So I guess that Aerith seems a little melancholic because she is worry about Zack and she feels lonely as well ( but when she first met Zack, she seemed as bright as ever, she always was a bright and hopeful girl since her childhood according to what Elmyra says in FF7 about Aerith ).

I guess that she just learned something about life during her time with Zack... she never really had a friend or boyfriend before him and the Shin-ra always tried to get her ( even if she liked Tseng for example, she couldn't be too close to him because he is a Turk and has his job to do, he knows that she is the last of the Cetras... she never told that to Zack, maybe because she doesn't want to lose him, she knows how the Shin-ra is, she knows that Zack is a soldier and works for them, but from what she can feel and see, he's unaware of who she is to the Shin-ra so it's better to be quiet about her origins, to protect herself, Zack and their relationship ).

Somehow, I think that Aerith fears loneliness more than her own death, that's why she cherishes fun, friendship, love and people even more ( by the way, the only time that we saw her weak and unsure in FF7, that was in Cosmo Canyon, when she confessed to Cloud that she was alone *and she shared that only with him, :cleris: , those two really are soulmates, that reminds me that Cloud was more open with her in AC than with anyone else * ). Tifa fears loneliness as well, but she acts different... she's more... how to say that... well clingy, she's desperate to keep people with her, she's by far more negative but she fears loneliness too. And I think that Aerith knew that her death was near just before the date in The Gold Saucer ( remember how she acted, she was about to say something, felt suddenly quiet and dissapeared in her room... and right after that, she went on a date with Cloud... and that's another proof of the "official" date scene, it's logical that she wants to share a last special moment with him at this point... the other dates are random, even the Tifa's one. ).

I also sensed something peculiar about Aerith in CC, and that she wasn't exactly as I remembered her in FFVII. She was still fun, cheerful, and flirty, even while being inexperienced, but she did seem down a few times. I think Beatrix makes great points in stating that the "sadness" vibe we got out of her was due to her worry for Zack. I always felt that their relationship, at least on Aerith's side, came out of her not wanting to be alone anymore. I mean, she knew a lot of the people in the slums, but she never had any real friends until Zack fell into her life. She seemed slightly clingy to me as well, like how she kept wanting Zack around. Again, she had no one to talk to or socialize with, so I agree in thinking that it was how she felt towards Zack that gave us those awkward feelings about her.

:) Other than that, I loved her in CC! Her outfit was adorable, and she was so playful and cute! I would squee everytime she made a pout face, especially about the flower wagons.

And about the sky thing...I felt that was VERY thought out. Remember in one of the flashbacks Zack has about Cloud? He's staring up at the sky, and he says, "I wish I could show this sky to-" and then Cloud comes around and interrupts him? I think that's slightly foreshadowing in a way of Cloud and Aerith's journey in the future, and how it is Cloud that ends up showing her the sky. ^_^

I didn't say that Aerith was clingy... clingy. Tifa is more this type of girl ( I think that she has her reasons, she suffered a lot from the loss of her mother... and of her father... her father's death takes place after the promise I know, but being protected by a man becomes even more a need for her... funny because in the end, Cloud is more the damsel in distress than her :cloud: poor Cloud, here's a hug :huggle: ). Well, she missed Zack a lot and this is natural when the guy is almost always on missions. But I remember a little talking that Aerith and Zack had at the phone in Crisis Core... Aerith tells him something like " I miss you ", Zack promises her to see her but he's busy at the moment... and Aerith is like " Oh, it's okay, I can wait, take your time, your job is more important."
She misses him, but she doesn't want to bother him. That's a big difference between her and Tifa. Tifa pushes Cloud to do things, this is good and bad ( good if it's for Cloud's sake, like in Advent Children when she tries to erase his guilt, it's just like she kicks him in the a** lol... but like we know she can't erase his guilt, that's not HER job, but thanks to Tifa, Cloud goes to the Forgotten City and there, he can talk to Aerith and feel a bit better than before, however it's bad when she wants him to be her personal hero... the poor guy feels even more unsure and useless because of Tifa's pressure ).

sessystalker - July 5, 2008 08:36 PM (GMT)
To me she seemed only slightly clingy on a few occasions, but definately no where near the amount Tifa is. Instances like when she kept calling him while he was working, asking about the flower wagon, or when he made it and she asked for a nicer one. To me, it was kinda a hidden way of saying she wanted him to stay and spend more time with her. It wasn't anything hurtful to her character or anything, it was very cute. :) It's natural, of course, to want to spend as much time as possible with the person you're crushing on. Perhaps 'clingy' wasn't the best word.... I dunno, it just struck me as odd that I was getting a phone call from Aerith in the middle of being attacked by a summon monster.

Beatrix - July 5, 2008 11:56 PM (GMT)
Well, she couldn't know about the monster lol. Well, she couldn't even predict when Zack had his free time in fact ( and there is jet lag for sure  , it's a little difficult to catch someone at the right time when he keeps moving around the world ). Hard thing to be a soldier, same thing for his lover ( it was true as well for Elmyra, poor woman... same things happen in real life unfortunately, when you're a soldier or works aboard a boat or a plane, you can't see your loved ones very often... this is so hard for the families ) .

What do you all think about Aerith in CC?

I think that Aerith showing some sadness or worry, or at least emotions we connote as negative, just shows her to be a little more human.

As optimisitic and as cheerful as she is, I think it adds a little more depth to her character to show that she has emotions beyond happiness, hope, and motherly love.

Besides which, she was still a teenager in Crisis Core. Perhaps she was still a little insecure about her relationship with Zack during her rampant hormonal development. Most teenagers are that way at one point or another, so I guess we can take into consideration that she has yet to fill the boots of the confident young adult she will become.

Either way, I think it's nice that we get to delve a little more into her character like that and see the changes between her in Crisis Core and in Advent Children. Makes it a little more realistic too because we aren't the same person we were six years ago, nor will we be in the future.

Aerith G, you make some valid points. That was a really good, perceptive view of the flower girl, and I possibly think you're right in that context.

my interpetation is that through her short years of experience, she never was happy happy, if you know what I meen. She basically put up a happy front to protect herself, so that she wouldnt get hurt. Wich in completely understandable.
She is definitly a brave little girl. Thats why I admire her.

Is this making sense?

Honestly, I think that definition suits Tifa much better.

Aerith has definitely led a troublesome life, but when she smiles I think she truly means it. If anything, I think she has grown to accept what she has and will be going through and tries to make the best of what she has. She's not the self-pity type.

When she's troubled, it shows. When she's happy, it shows. When she's annoyed, it shows. I know we can't really depict much from her appearance in FFVII, but her dialog speaks for itself. (LOL. Yeah, I'm lame to laugh at that.)

With Aerith, I guess it would be easy to say what you see is what you get. And yes, she is blunt and open about her feelings (one of the qualities that endeared her to Cloud because even her feelings and intentions were clear to his befuddled mind) but I think there was a little more depth there, more so when she matured and the objective of her destiny became more obvious.
