Title: Aerith's Manifestations!
Description: I was reading an essay on the site.

Ok, so I was rereading:

Cloud's Guilt and Aerith's Manifestations by Angelalex242 the essay on the site under Advent Children. Basically, as Cloud's guilt started subsiding, he started to be more intuned to Aerith. Like in the beginning of the movie, we see little hints of Aerith and as Cloud started to forgive himself, Aerith appears to him more and more. The climax is when he fully sees her. It implies that Cloud can 'be' with Aerith. Well, I found some more proof to support this! :D Read the essay first before reading further or whatever!

There was a scene in the church where Holy Water came out of the ground and healed Cloud and all you heard was Aerith's voice saying, "Let's go."

But in the Collector's script, it said, 'Cloud's left arm glows with a pale light as the geostigma begins to heal. While Cloud watches this happen to his arm, Kadaj destroys the wall near the rafters and escapes. Cloud ignores this and gazes at Aerith's flower bed. He sees Aerith's figure through the misty spray.'

And I know the script in the Collector's Edition wasn't the final script, but the thought of it is what counts! This supports 'Calling' where it seems Aerith is more 'real' to Cloud. I think they cut that out because they want us to figure that out than outright telling us hahaha... :cleris: I'm probably crazy!

I hesitate to use the script for anything, because the script generally does more harm then good, but that's a nice tidbit you found.

Good job.

The script can't be used as evidence for anything, but yeah, it's a nice thought.

As for Alex's essay, well, it doesn't need the tidbit from the script as supporting evidence anyway. IMO, it's already evident enough from what was shown in the movie itself. As the movie progresses, Cloud does become more tuned to Aerith...particularly right after he faces the Forgotten City, the site where Aerith was killed.

Aerith: "So you came. That's a good sign."

He begins to hear her, see her partially, and then finally see her fully for the first time at the end in the church. The ability for him to do these things appear to be inversely connected to the level of his sin/guilt. It's pretty clear that Aerith has been there all along, just that she didn't appear to him or interact with him until he was ready to face his past and forgive himself. In Calling, Aerith can be seen in the live world(appearing solid and not surrounded by white haze). It's significant in many ways, but I was also thinking that it signifies that Cloud has finally, completely forgiven himself...which, of course, supports Alex's essay.

I agree with HD and Alex that we can't really use the script for evidence, but the part LuvNLife quoted is very interesting and does further support what Alex was saying in the essay.

True... the evidence that Alex used in his essay is more than enough to support the idea that Aerith's manifestations become stronger as Cloud starts to deal with his guilt, and I think Alex did a terrific job explaining how the two are related. ^_^
