Title: Cloud Vs. Link
Description: Final Fantasy 7 vs. The Legend of Zelda

I've seen several of these Cloud vs. Link forums and most of them had Link as the winner. I personally can't pick because in my opinion both are phenomenal characters and this would be a fight to behold. What do y'all think?

Cloud. Honestly, I haven't played all of the Legend of Zelda games, so I actually can't give a proper opinion, but my personal bias says Cloud. =P And I believe there was a "Who can beat Cloud" thread from a really really long time ago... I vaguely remember it. o.O;;

I haven't played any of LoZ games yet but I was curious about the poll in the forums you mentioned....
What's the standard of that poll? I mean, in comparison of what? Personality? Appearance? or the ability in fights?
I don't know about Link, but Cloud seems to deal with a demon that could come back from a space over and over again while Cloud had defeated him at least three times.... I guess I'd vote for Cloud for that matter. :P

It was a poll on Gamespot. There was no criteria to base votes on but people came up with their own reasons for why either would win.

A question I thought I would never have to answer. T_T Cloud and Link are my two favorite video game characters.
What are we talking about? Just who is a better character? Or who would win in a fight?
...
I think Cloud would definitely win in a fight. In FFVII, you can level your characters up until they're demi-gods, whereas LoZ games were made to be challenging hack-and-slash games.
Plus Link doesn't have his own CG movie that shows him jumping 50 feet in the air and swinging around huge-ass swords like they're nothing. Honestly, until I see Link (or any other character) doing some of the things Cloud does, I'll say Cloud would win.
But it's really up to personal opinion. IMO, I don't see Link beating Cloud, but if the people on those other forums do, that's fine.

*Sigh* Cloud would win because he has the Final Attack and Pheonix Materia, making him immortal. Even if Link had filled all his bottles with Fairies, Cloud would outlast him.

It greatly depends on which Link.
Some versions of Link have invincibility powers. While using them, he can attack Cloud without fear of his own safety. Of course, such powers are limited use, so all Cloud has to do is outlast Link's magic.

Okay... I'll use the same argument I use with any REALLY REALLY strong person compared to Cloud.
It doesn't matter how strong the person Cloud fights is. Cloud can use Demi 3 + Quadra Magic; and the enemies life force, no matter how strong it may be, will be greatly reduced VERY easily. That means Goku, Superman, etc will be just as effected by this as any person/monster in the Final Fantasy world.
Like Sefie said, Cloud also has Final Attack + Phoenix. But I do have to correct this. At most Cloud could only use this revival tactic 5 times per mastered materia. Both Final Attack and Pheonix only have 5 stars max. And if I remember correctly, each star equates to how many times you can use that materia in one battle.
If we stray a bit from the technicalities of the materia and battle system, you also have to think about summons. In Advent Children a summon stays until defeated(or maybe until the person who summoned it is defeated or runs out of energy) and this was ONE summon out of however many that were in that case Cloud had. Then there's the possibility for summoning multiple summons which would be overkill for alot of heroes from any comic book, video game, cartoon, etc.
And then there's limit breaks. I don't think I need to say much more except for the "Hero Drink" which if used in FFVII, creates an extra limit break per Hero Drink. So say Cloud uses 5 Hero Drinks and does his Omnislash... that would mean 6 Omnislashes one after the other with no pause in between. But yeah... that's going back to the technicalities of the battle system.
Anyway... I could go on and on about this, but I think I'll stop here. =D
EDIT: Oh yeah... Odin and Deathblow/Flash. 1 hit kills. ^_~ My bad. I forgot.
