This is a group for those who want to defend the carp reference in Anastar's study of the Love Triangle. When I first saw the reference, I actually thought: "Wow, so that fish wasn't just this wierd piece of randomness? That's interesting!". This group is for anyone who agrees and want to defend the carp reference from being ripped apart by rabid C/Ters with way too much time on their hands. We will stand up and state that we like the carp reference and aren't ashamed of it! :lol:

Seriously, I agree with you Hyper. When I first played up to the City of the Ancients, I kind of thought that the fish blocking the stairway was really weird and out of place, but now I know what it symbolises, it makes more sense.

Yeah, when I first reached that part of the City of the Ancients, I was a bit stumped by that fish. I actually found this random fish to be really funny and odd. I really couldn't work out why Square made a FISH block the way down to the shrine! :lol: But reading the carp reference was interesting; and it makes much more sense now. :rolleyes:

My love of fish encompasses both fresh and salt, though I've never owned a salt-water aquarium (too expensive and time-consuming). Favorites? I have lots... but I'd have to narrow it down to silver dollar tetras, oscars, and spotted puffers.

Me? I don't think I'm an enthusiast to the same level as you (I feel very foolish and juvenile now...); I haven't owned an aquarium in years and most of what I know is from books and documentaries (I'm interested in birds, lizards, amphibians and butterflies too, but I gravitate more towards fish). My head's not as filled with knowledge as it used to be, but at least I still visit public aquariums whenever I can, though. ^_^

I don't think I recognise Oscars though; can you provide a picture or some information?

My favourites? Hmm...from the ones I can think of right now, I'd narrow it down to Tangs, Butterflies, Wrasses, White Skirt Tetras, Bangghai Cardinals and Rainbow Trout. ^_^

Not a huge fan of carp myself, unless they're in koi-form (they aren't even good to eat! too bony...)

I also enjoy aquariums, and make it a point to visit a new one, or one I haven't been to before, whenever I have the opportunity.

Lol, I'd be an aquarium dork too, if only I had a nearby aquarium! The best I could do for fish was my uncle's pet shop (which had a huge room full of small fish), and I visited the butterfly house a few miles outside town a lot, but now that I'm in University, I think I'm in the only city with nothing available for creature-enthusiasts like me! :geek:

Wow, that brings back so many "I wish I was a mermaid" dreams of mine! :D I used to feel so positive that if I spent enough time in the sea, somehow that would magically happen and could become a mermaid (I love child-logic, don't you?). ^_^

Anyway, an update in the Community of Carp!

In the Venting section, Tifa Lockheart just posted a link to what appears to be a CloTi blog. There was a beautiful and eloquent quote there that I just couldn't resist posting here:

So I've decided to set up our club's Reasons to Love Carp. I hope you all have fun posting your own reasons for supporting the holy power of that water-dwelling beauty we praise so highly!

I'll start off...

1) First off, it's a very interesting reference (it's actually giving me some more support for one of my Sephiroth-theories...).
2) The CloTis have repeatedly admitted on their boards and websites that the carp is a powerful symbol of Cloud and Aeris' love. From the horse's mouth, people. It's right there. If that's not an admission of defeat, I don't know what is... :P
3) According to further painstaking CloTi research, Cloud and Aeris consummated their undying love on the back of a carp. Unlike Cloud and Tifa, who did not consummate their relationship at all.
4) From what this latest quote tells us, the carp also has a tendency to make bratty and annoying CloTis of the rabid variety throw up continually. :sick: The carp shall be our weapon against them! :ph43r:

Well, most do, but my painstaking research at the No.1 source of information on carp in FFVII, Upon My Shining Gills, claims that:

This highly informative and thoroughly-researched site claims that Cloud and Aeris were in love, were married by the sacred carp, and then consummated their love on its back. At no point is Tifa mentioned. She doesn't figure into the CarpLove.

I think we can use this site to prove that even CloTis can't stand up against the mighty canon love power of our holy carp. Even the C/T fan who runs this site has admitted that it does in fact powerfully represent Cloud and Aeris' love. They can't find any facts to dispute it. In fact, every time a rabid C/Ter brings up the carp reference ("omg clud & aries sex0red on a carp!"), they're not actually making fun of us, or trying to make us look foolish. No, what they're really doing is subconsciously supporting C/A. The pull of the mighty carp is just too strong, you see. They can't resist it.

Amen to that! :lol:
