Chibica - March 5, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
Sorry to inform you this sad news..... but it is true that Nobuo-san is leaving S-E. He said the major reason is because S-E recently moved to the city Shinjuku, a place he considers too noisy and disordered. The source is
i-messo.net, from
this interview.

Awwwuuuu I'ma soooo gonna miss him!!!!!
ED: Damnit I'm so sad now...
Aerithstrife_7 - March 5, 2008 07:40 PM (GMT)
HOLY FREAKING #$)(*&#)%(*)#(*% im sorry but WHAT!!???????????? someone tell me its not true!! it cant be true!! hes freaking NOBUO UEMATSU!!! but this is from a blog right? so there is the chance that this is just made up, because if it wasnt released officially then.. and im sure something like this would be HUGE NEWS.. so maybe its just someone trying to stir up some controversy... and on top of that SE have loads of offices everywhere and im sure Nobuo-san wouldnt quit that easily just because of a location change.. he has been working with SE for years and years, he is one of the super main people.. so.. unless its officially released im not sure.. and im hoping it really is someone just messing around cause if he was the leave then video game music as we know it would be over.. so HANG IN THERE GUYS IM SURE ITS NOT TRUE *or at least i hope not*
Chibica - March 5, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
*hugs Aerithstrife_7 and cries together*
I know how you feel, hon, I exactly at tears when I know the news..... I hate to dissapoint you but I'll be cursed if i know you'll be even sadder when you know the truth. So.... lets get through this together.
See this and you'll know why:
Interview Video*iz still sad*
illwaitforever1 - March 5, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
Umm, didn't he leave a while ago? Like, back in 2004?
He made his own company, Smile Please. He still does songs for SE, but through Smile Please.
Kaleta - March 5, 2008 08:22 PM (GMT)

Aerithstrife_7 - March 5, 2008 08:34 PM (GMT)
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

AND BLOODY HELL I CANT BELIEVE SAKAGUCHI LEFT I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT WTF? , you cant have Final Fantasy without Uematsu... you just cant imagine a Final Fantasy game where the music hasnt been composed by Uematsu... hes bloody done every theme we love every sing theme!!???? so who the hell is doing Final Fantasy XIII and VS. XIII?? Yoko-san? but come on Square wouldnt have let him go that easily wont Nomura do something about it i mean its freaking Uematsu they have to FIGHT FOR HIM!!! gosh i hope to God they fight to get him back.. but i love the interviewer his questions were great and i love the part when he said that thing about how their losing the best composer because of a fortune teller... but Nobuo-san is so humble huh?
but wait wait wait wait now i am severely worried what the hell is going to happen to the games this cant be it , it really cant he has to come back.... im sorry but im just in shock right now *huggles Chibica to death out of sheer sadness* we must find answers we must!!!

Gaiz! He left 4 years ago! He still does songs for SE! Don't worry about it!
Here is his message to his fan club members:
| QUOTE |
"Hello everyone!
I would like to thank you all for supporting my fan club.
Well, I have news for you guys this time. I am going to leave Square/Enix at end of October!!
Did I surprise you?
Oh well, I'm not joking, it is the real thing, and I am going to quit!
Ah...., there is always a negative image when employees "leave or quit their job", so I say, "I have graduated from the company..." how is that?
There weren't any problems or arguements between them and me, so please don't take it the wrong way.
I hope to work at my own pace now. So, this is what we call, a "Peaceful Resignation".
My work will not end, I will keep creating game music, having more orchestral concerts and live concerts, making more "Black Mages" music albums, and also we are considering these plans for overseas fans as well. Please continue supporting my work.
Oh, this fan club "Nobiwo no Shippo" will continue, so please relax!
My new company that I am starting is called "SMILE PLEASE". I will keep living my life with smiles and enjoy everyday.
Nobuo Uematsu October 31st, 2004." |
Kaleta - March 5, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
Final fantasy wont be final fantasy without him D: its like ... whole new song for yuna, or something like that D: It will be like a final fantasy rip off on FFXIII D;
Aerithstrife_7 - March 5, 2008 08:52 PM (GMT)
ARGHHHH TWINNY REALLY!?????? thanks for posting that .. and his letter is so sweet
and i had no bloody idea he left but that means hes still working with them even for the Final Fantasy XIII titles?
illwaitforever1 - March 5, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
Well, he wasn't didn't do the songs for FFXII, so I don't know.
Kaleta - March 5, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
Hm, maybe we just have to wait till they come out then
Aerithstrife_7 - March 5, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
but the main themes and all wont be from him im guessing.. probably Yoko-san is going to take over.. but Uematsu... just bloody hell i hope they at least asked him to do the character themes for Final Fantasy veres XIII
DivineRose - March 5, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
Yup, I'm with illwaitforever1. I just did a presentation on him at school; this is old news.
He (Smile Please) still does get hired by S-E to write music, though, yes?
Coral - March 5, 2008 11:27 PM (GMT)
I don't know...as others boardies said he didn't create songs for FFXII so...
I understand his decision though. He had some embarrasing obligations apart from composing, like going to games events, festivals or movies premiere like Advent Children, where I've been and was lucky to meet him...
And on the top of that, he was supposed to create tons of music in a limited time?
Moreover he can now build his own projects! So we should hear more about him and his personal projects!
Nah I understand... it's sad for our beloved games but let's hope he'll be faithful to S-E! :huggle:
Inuyatta - March 6, 2008 12:13 AM (GMT)
It could be much worse--he could have retired from composing altogether. ;)
Difinity - March 6, 2008 12:47 AM (GMT)
I believe the last work that Uematsu-san composed for the Final Fantasy series was either the music in Advent Children or "Kiss Me Good-Bye" for Final Fantasy XII; he didn't write the rest of the music for that game. He didn't compose the music for Final Fantasy XI nor Final Fantasy X-2 and he won't be writing the music for Final Fantasy XIII either.
The announcement is rather old news, really.
Chibica - March 6, 2008 03:59 AM (GMT)
  Urn, I think you're right, ppl. He seemed to resign since several years ago, but he still keeps the work for S-E.... I didn't read the intereview carefully, but the topic of it is "Nobuo Uematsu, a musician works for S-E serious games even after he resigned S-E, now in a 20 minutes vidoe interview he confesses his major reason why he wouold make such decision back then." .... I think I was just too sad and too shock before I read it through. Sorry to make a fuss gaiz..... :headbang:
*murmur* Good, Chibica did another silly post again...
Kuki Prower - March 6, 2008 11:47 AM (GMT)
Yeah that was back in 2004, but he still has good relations with SE. Why his SMILE company's first customer was none other than SE to compose the soundtrack to Advent Children. And he does some work with them still such as Difinity announced when he did the theme song for FFXII.
Hades' Daughter - March 6, 2008 04:47 PM (GMT)
Uematsu is the wuv of mah life. It's so sad that now he's not as involved with SE as he used to be. Final Fantasy just isn't what it is without him composing every single track. First Sakaguchi...now him...
Chibica - March 6, 2008 06:03 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the information Difinity and Kuki!! :huggle:

One more pic of Nobuo-san's mischievous look:

ED: Pic credits to his SMILE website.
Cloud Gainsborough - March 9, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I hate to be a naysayer on the urgency here, but this IS actually rather old news...
Pyra Kurai Akaidra - March 9, 2008 09:43 PM (GMT)
Yep, ol' news. But his company's name did made me smile.
Still, it's a little sad that he's not the guy that's going to compose all the soundtrack for next FFs.
Suigetsu - March 12, 2008 05:46 PM (GMT)
Bravo! squareENIX! another of their new brilliant deicitons. <_<
srsly if they had never fused with enix things wouldnt be this bad.
Amathala - March 13, 2008 05:14 AM (GMT)
Haha...I remember being devastated by that announcement...I believe he left on Oct. 27, and my birthday happens to be Oct. 28th. I was so bummed out, I think I cried...but now I can't remember. I do remember popping in my FFVII OST and listening to it like all day.
