I recently replayed my KH games, and in my mind Soraxkairi's story reminds me of Cloud and Aerith.
Okay so Sora is a lot more laid back than grumpy ol Cloud, but Sora can have grumpy moments.

Also both of them, would do anything to protect their girl, even Cloud would give up his heart if it meant saveing Aerith, like Sora did for Kairi in KH.
Kairi is a lot like Aerith, if you think about it she would do anything even die if it meant her friends would live, kinda like Aerith.

Every thing matches, Kairi=Aerith Sora=Cloud.

There are similarities; in KH Cloud's story definitely parallels Sora's. Both in the first game are searching for their 'light' (Kairi, Aerith) and by the time that KH2 rolls around, they are now dealing with the darkness in them- for Cloud this is his search for Sephiroth while for Sora it could either refer to learning about his Nobody Roxas, or his search for Riku (who as we know, is quite dark :P)

And in KH2, Aerith and Kairi are both sharing a similar role. They are waiting for the man they love to come back to them. Both of them are refered to as the guys' light, obviously the person they care about most. They offer hope and guidance to Sora and Cloud, showing confidence that they will accomplish their goals.

Yeah <3 Kairi and Sora are definately like Cloud and Aerith, then again, most couples by square are xD I love the scene where SPOILERRR!!! Sora tells Kairi to stay where she is and not get involve in KHI, and Cloud says the same thing to Aerith in KHII <3

Yeah, the girls pretty much let the guys do their own thing.

Hey you know the huging fmv in KH2, when Kairi finds Sora again. I kinda think that would happen between, Cloud and Aerith.
You know when he returnes to RG after his fight with Sephiroth.

Cloud:...Aerith.

Aerith: Cloud!, you came back.

Cloud: well a promise is a promise.

Aerith, runs into Cloud's arms pulling him into hug.
