The only materia we've seen used in AC is the Bahamut materia. Kadaj used something that looked like an enemy skill on Cloud in one of the trailers, but where is the materia? The materia slots in Cloud's swords look empty. Cloud doesn't use a Restore materia on Tifa when he finds her in the Church. Instead, he takes her back to the Seventh Heaven. Restore isn't being used on the victims of Geostigma, either.

Has the Lifestream become depleted or effected by Jenova's cells to the point that materia is now unusable? :unsure:

Aly, do you realize how many times in how many games I've screamed at the screen "BUT YOU HAVE CURE SPELLS YOU DOLT! JUST CURE HIM! JUST DO IT!" I mean, when Wedge fell from the tower, why didn't Aeris just whip out a Cure2? Or Cloud for Jessie? The only game I've ever seen use a curing spell outside of battle is FF8. I think it's like...taboo or something
Anyways, didn't Cloud promise his materia to Yuffie? That would be why he didn't have it. And in the game the slots in the sword were always empty

Maybe those holes are for sword design only? And maybe one of two things happened:

1) Materia was replaced with another form of magic using.
2) Materia was rendered useless at some point.

I would guess 2 since the lifestream is in distress. But I really don't know. :unsure:

I knew I'd read something that implied there was no materia being used, but I couldn't remember where I'd seen it. I think there was another quote to that effect, too. Good find, CG. :rolleyes:

I'm also guessing it's number two. I think there's a problem with the use of materia.

No, Cloud didn't promise his materia to Yuffie. She made up a contract saying that she would get the materia, but he didn't sign it. I thought the materia slots were only empty in the Weapon shops before you bought the swords. You couldn't see the materia slots in battle.

I mean like..the parts where Cloud whups out his sword outside of battle. I seem to remember empty materia slots

*sigh* You are so worried with CXA evidence that you forgot something that Cloud said in the game. The spiky blondie stated that once the fight was over, they would throw away all their materias because the use of materia was wasting the planet's energy and some natural mako fountains.

Well, it's not morally incorrect to use it, but it is morally incorrect to produce it. Hmmm... maybe you've got something. Barret's mining for an alternative energy source, so maybe they've stopped producing materia, too. I can't believe that Cloud would just give up all the materia he has, though. Cloud would most likely put some away in case of an emergency.

Cloud didn't say anything about throwing his materia away. In fact, he never really talked about materia after disc one at all (unless it's the white/black materia). Yuffie is the one that requested it and he gave it no mind. So he never said what he was going to do with it.

After all, why throw 50+ materia away when you can sell it and be a millionaire? Mastered All materia, anyone? *Snicker*

I think you might've gotten the idea from the FFVIII GF's though. :blink:
