1) Aeristh takes Tifa into Cloud's "heart," which tells us where all of Cloud's feelings during the Lifestream Sequence are coming from. 2) Aeristh's declaration of love for Cloud tapers off after Tifa goes into his heart. Also that Aeristh thinks that Cloud is "cool" and "confident," which he is not. Those are traits of Zack, as shown by how he appears immediately afterwards. She also calls Cloud "simplistic" and "awkward." Cloud is not simplistic--he's is the most complex character in the game. He's "awkward" when he takes on Zack's persona = when he's not being the real Cloud. 3) The theme of the "heart" being able to heal. The beginning talks about Cloud's heart not being able to heal from Aeristh's death. But then we are shown how others' hearts are healed, like Dyne. This shows that Cloud's heartbreak is not permanent, but can be healed when he lets go of his guilt. Dyne was relieved of his guilt and his heart was to heal so he could join his wife in the afterlife. I give you a quote from this section about hearts healing: "Even so, the hearts of people can be rebuilt. They can stand up and face those sad painful memories." Parallels to Cloud, anyone? |
