Title: Rip Heath Ledger

nyrin - January 23, 2008 03:11 AM (GMT)
I can't believe he's gone. I saw the news on msn and just didn't want to believe it. I kept saying 'no way' and 'it can't be true' over and over. I just loved Heath Ledger. I see a lot of assholes in Hollywood and hell real life. Heath Ledger was one of the standup young stars that actually cared about their craft and strove to better themselves. I just can't believe he's gone. It's SO sad. But I guess it helps you appreciate life a little bit more.

At least we know it wasn't a suicide. He was found dead in his room and there were sleeping pills next to him, but they think it was probably more of an accidental overdose (he had been talking about fatigue lately).

But damn I just wish it wasn't like this. What an absolute shock in every sense of the word.

Sadhana - January 23, 2008 04:09 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I was totally shocked when I heard the news today. I always liked him, not only because admittedly he was an attractive guy but also because I thought he was a pretty good actor. I was so excited for The Dark Knight because it looked like Heath Ledger had done such an awesome job with the Joker. And then suddenly... he's gone.

Only twenty-eight years old. That's really tragic. It really reminds you of the suddenness and finality of death. My heart goes out to his friends and family.

Kusari Yarou - January 23, 2008 11:43 AM (GMT)
I'm still a bit speechless. It's just he is...was...*Heath Ledger*. Good actor, skyrocketing career...and he deserved it too! He was so versatile; I've seen him play a gay guy(Brokeback), a devoted son and brother(The Patriot), a goofy con-man(Brothers Grimm...I loved him here), a scruffy bad boy(10 Things I Hate About You), a casanova(Casanova)...all such different roles but he pulled them all off! And I was so excited when I saw his version of the Joker! :( I really admired how he got into the role, staying in a hotel room for two months, psychoanalyzing his psychotic character.

And so young! It's like James Dean and River Phoenix all over again.

aerisbolt - January 23, 2008 03:32 PM (GMT)
As everyone else has already said I was in shock, I guess I still am. I have watched him since he was a no name actor on a very short lived t.v. series Roar and was so excited about his upcoming portrayel as the Joker (I love the Batman series).

The only positive I can think of right now is I am happy in the fact that at least he was recently becoming recognized by his peers for his work. He was known as an actor not just a heartthrob and the praise he received was well deserved. My heart breaks for his little girl and the rest of his friends and family. He will be missed.

Heath Ledger was a great man. I think that he stepped out of his boundaries just to get the part right. He was an awesome actor and very handsome. He accepted himself the way that he was and he never flaunted that he was better than someone/something else. He always did what he was told and he will be missed.

Although I'm still shocked to hear about all this.

Kaleta - January 23, 2008 06:36 PM (GMT)
All my friends at school were talking about this! I based my date list on him! D;

Kuraudo - January 23, 2008 11:39 PM (GMT)
OMG, I was wondering when somebody was going to make a thread for this. I was incredibly shocked when I heard about his death on the news yesterday. He had so much talent, it's truly a waste... I really admired how deep he delved into his roles, and his ability to become whatever character he played. He really brought his characters to life. I'm convinced he could pull off just about anything. He's an actor that really deserved his fame. And honestly, he came off as quite down-to-earth, and a genuinely kind person.

He was an incredibly talented actor, a favorite of mine, and he was so young at the time of his death. He and his family are in my prayers.

*sigh* The industry has lost a great one. I was really looking forward to his future movies.

This is terrible news--but you want worse news?

This is what my friend found after he got back from China and was trying to get caught up on current events:

That is so sick. I hate this kind of stuff. Seriously, so much of the Bible is up for interpretation, and who are they to say that they got God's intentions down just right? How can they claim to know exactly who God hates? (then again, why would God create creatures he hated...)

And really, if they want to believe that Heath Ledger is in hell because he once played a gay man in a movie, good for them. But what good will picketing his funeral do? There can't be any brotherly compassion in the hearts of these people if they want to inflict even more pain on his already suffering families after this sudden death, and that makes me question any "spiritual" motives they have behind their homophobia.

Rinoa - January 24, 2008 12:29 PM (GMT)
I feel so bad for his family, including his baby daughter. I send all my thought's and prayers to his family. I don't think I want to see "The Dark Night" anymore, because I think I'll cry if I look at him on screen.

That WBC thing is just horrible. I don't think someone would go to hell period. Personally, I don't think there is a hell...

Amathala - January 24, 2008 04:52 PM (GMT)
I didn't find out until yesterday morning about this. I cried so much. He was so incredibly talented and so young. It's such a shame really.

My heart goes out to his family and his friends, especially his baby girl, Matilda. I wish they would have had more time to spend together. What a terrible loss...

As for that stupid.....piece of crap image...I hope that those assholes go to hell. No matter if they are homosexuals, or portray one for a role in a movie, no one deserves that kind of treatment, alive or dead.

Kaldea - January 24, 2008 09:03 PM (GMT)
God is supposed to be the embodiment of love. How can "love" hate? Especially in the case of hating people who create love. The logic of these people absolutely disgust me. Amazing how "Group Think" can really take people over to look like complete idiots and be proud of it.

As with everyone, I was shocked. I would have never guessed it would be him. D:

People who think they are righteous. They should look at themselves. Oops. I don't think they can see themselves either.

Anyway, when I learned about his death from a friend who is always giving me false information about things, I thought it was just a joke. However, I heard about it again on the same day from another person and realized that maybe it wasn't a joke after all. After Googling about it and reading the news from Yahoo!, that's when I was able to confirm it. I felt really bad afterwards.

:(

Such a big waste. But I am still looking forward to seeing Dark Knight.

His death kinda reminds me of Ana Nicole Smith's, though.

AugoraTheMateria - January 25, 2008 04:34 PM (GMT)
Just like everyone, I was shocked. When I get on the internet, MSN is the first site I see and in bold letters was "Heath Ledger Dead". I ran out of my room and told my mother about it.

He was such a talented actor and it seemed like his life was doing really well. I remember when I first saw "A Knight's Tale" and I just loved him in that. I also loved his performance in "The Brothers Grimm".

It's a shame that he had to go. I only wish the best for his family, friends, and his daughter.

Kusari Yarou - January 26, 2008 11:13 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah, that is really righteous. Desecrating a dead man’s memory, hurting his already-upset family, friends and fans… yeah I’m sure that’s exactly what God wants us to do //sarcasm.

…*they* should go to hell, f******* bastards

Well, the nature of their deaths are similar, yeah. Crucial difference though is that people never had a lot of good things to say bout Ana Nicole in the first place, and certainly weren’t going to start just because she’d died! With Heath though, there is genuine sadness and every good thing anyone says about him right now is sincere. It’s not everyday that a ‘heartthrob’ dies, and both girls *and* guys feel saddened by his passing.

I also loved his performance in "The Brothers Grimm".

Yeah, I remember laughing at him all the way through that...who knew he could be so comical? I remember thinking, 'Wow, he should do more comedy' :(
And I remember his whole serenade scene in 'Ten Things I Hate About You'...if it were any other actor, it would have been cheesy, but he was awesome.

I was shocked when I found out, he was a great actor and person.

@ at WBC article- It's no surprise. : O The WBC even pickets at soliders funerals. They have signs saying that 'god hates america' 'god hates fags' 'god loves when soliders die' god hates sweden' xD They really are pathetic.

IchigoXLover - January 26, 2008 07:54 PM (GMT)

I know this happened months ago and everything, but I had a thought relevant to the conversation. Since the release of The Dark Knight yesterday, there's been more and more talk of Heath Ledger's performance. And it's not because he's dead, it's because he did a phenomenal job. I just thought I'd say that every cloud has a silver lining, and the silver lining on Heath Ledger's untimely death seems to be that he gave the performance of his career right before he died and it will forever be the one that defines who he was as an actor.

Well said.
When The Dark Knight commercials started to air at first I thought they were just milking his death to make more money. But I realize now that Heaths acting in the movie was outstanding .When I first heard of heath playing the Joker It was teh spring of 07 I believe .I was so hyped up to go see one of my Favorite actors in one of my favorite movies. Then this all happened.

My dad is even moved by his performance in this movie.

True Serenity - July 19, 2008 11:52 PM (GMT)
After all these months, I'm still in deep shock. The day I found out, it took me hours to really believe it. Heath Ledger was one of the greatest actors of this generation. Unlike many celebrities, he LOVED what he did, he was a genuine man and very down-to-earth, so on and so forth. He was even honest about everything, humble with a simple lifestyle. Also, a wonderful, wonderful father. I absolutely loved the man he grew up to be and how he used his great, blessed talent. I have such great respect for him - Heath fully deserved everything he earned. His roles were so diverse, and for each character he really delved deep and brought them to life. An amaaaaazing, devoted actor (not to mention extremely attractive). It's seriously a very tragic death.

The media has gone crazy invading his private life while trying to investigate his death, and I think that's disgusting and very undeserving. He was an incredibly good man, dear Lord.

@Sadhana: I agree 100%. The Dark Knight was DEFINITELY a fitting celebration of his career. His Joker was an effing PHENOMENON, he made the movie such a wild success and a crazy ass ride. I will never ever forget this film basically BECAUSE of him. I've bragged about it nonstop ever since I came out of the theater; his performance was effing brilliant and totally killer. I love love loved his work, such a legendary and memorable role for the ages... His work should definitely mark him as an incredible actor, not his untimely death when the media crossed the line.

HEATH LEDGER, FOREVER REST IN PEACE. <3 You are dearly missed, you are legend, my heart goes out to you, your epic work, and your family.
