After much thought on what my college major would be, I came to the conclusion that I have no idea what I'd want to do. I had been thinking about another path for a long time though, and its that path I've decided to take. The Marine Corps.
So yes, I am now in the Marine's Delayed Entry Program, which means I'll be graduating high school, and after I turn 18 (July 11) I will be able to ship out for boot camp. I am currently scheduled to leave July 21 for a 3 month stay in basic training. Fun times ahead. :D
I've actually been doing this for a few months now, and have been working out and such so that basic will be less physically challenging. I do PT every wednesday night at the recruitment office, and every second saturday of the month we have a pool function. I've been to two of those, and one time we got to run the local SWAT obstacle course, which was pretty cool.
I got my job picked too, and this is the coolest part: Presidential Security. When I get out of boot camp, I'll begin training with the CIA and Secret Service, and I'll even be getting some above-top secret clearance. This is actually a 5-year active duty program however. Security for 2 years, then I'll be assigned to a regular infantry squad for 3 years.
Well, just wanted to drop in, say hi, and say what I'll be doing for the next five years. I still got a good amount of time until I leave though. :)
Oh, and picture Presidential Security this way... the president.
