Title: Enchanted
Anti-R - December 2, 2007 02:04 AM (GMT)
Watch it. Period.
Giselle may be a Mary Sue, but this is Mary Sueism done best and well. I laughed a lot by her Disney Princess parody, but I find myself being in love with her character, so props to Amy Adams' superb acting.
McDreamy... XD~
Movie is a bit cliche... but I really don't care about that as long as the story delivers. And man, it delivered.

YES.
I completely loved this movie!! I love the film's originality. What with going from animated into realism. And I agree with you 100% on Amy Adams portrayal of a Disney Princess. She did so well with it. I was so glad that she didn't overdo it, which I'm sure any other actress might have done.
I loved how they incorporated Disney Classics into the film as well. Like the poison apple (Snow White), and the slipper left behind (Cinderella). Clever.
And the songs in the movie were surprisingly catchy. I loved "That's How You Know." I didn't know Amy Adams possessed a voice like that!
I must also comment on James Marsden's portrayal of Prince Edward. He, too, did very well in his role. The typical Disney Prince. xD I had the pleasure of meeting James Marsden at the Hairspray Premiere this past summer. Really sweet guy. ^_^
And I do agree that the movie was a bit cliché, but it was indeed enjoyable. I'll definitely go see this again another 2...or 5 times. xD
Oh and I'm growing more and more fond of Patrick Dempsey. teh hawtness. :lust:

I loved it, too! I've concluded that I shall spend the rest of my days twirling around on the streets, and maybe my McDreamy will come along and catch me when I fall! :fangirl:

I saw Enchanted about a week ago and I absolutely loved it. :D It was one of the best movies I've seen all year.
And I don't think Giselle was a Mary Sue. For one thing, Mary Sue's are self-insert characters. And another, she was a parody character and the whole point of her was to make fun of the past Disney princesses. Infact, in the middle her imperfections are pointed out when she can finally feel anger.
Even though at the end she was the one to save her guy, I still don't think that makes her a Mary Sue. It wasn't like she suddenly pulled out some mad swordsman skills and slayed the dragon with out taking a breath. All she did was throw the sword in order to catch what's his face. And I think this was a great twist at the end.
Overall great movie. 10/10

Aie!! I'm so slow but I just finally found the time to go to the cinema today and watched this film --- I loved it!!!
Like Clorith, I think now I too must take to wearing questionable fashions made out of curtain fabrics and twirl around on streets waiting for someone to catch me. XDD Also I must burst into song whenever I meet a potential True Love!
This was probably the cutest movie I've seen all year - loved it so much! Definitely going to buy the DVD when it comes out, already I'm listening to the soundtrack on repeat! I love feel-good Disney movies. ^_^
Must watch for saps!!! :fangirl:
Clorith - December 29, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
Better late than never! Haha yeah, time to sing on the streets!!!
*Snow White's singing voice* "Someday my prince will come..."
Anti-R - January 2, 2008 05:14 AM (GMT)
I like Prince Edward, I actually feel bad for him when he realized he's not the True Love.
And Wormtail! Sorta! XD
And I find myself playing "That's How You Know" a lot. >.> <.< The fluff is so... aaaaghh! In a good way.
Clorith - January 3, 2008 06:35 AM (GMT)
Oh I love "So Close" to bits! :fangirl: Yes I felt really sorry for Prince Edward, was so glad he got a girl in the end. :)

I loved this movie! Giselle did start out as a Mary Sue, but she was living in a Mary Sue world. I liked how the more time she spent in New York, the more she started to act less like a Disney Princess cut out and more like a real girl. The scene where she was reading the book on women who changed life in the 20th century was a nice touch. :3
Oh, and I want her flower dress. ftw.

I just saw the movie today! Yes, I know, I'm slow, but OMG, I absolutely adored it! Giselle was so adorable- the actress pulled her off amazingly! The story was classic fairy tale goodness, but with some great twists that made it all the more interesting. Loved the animated world meeting the real world! Pip the chipmunk was very amusing, and Wormtail played a very good villian, of course :). And McDreamy- *droool* I so want the CD now. . . I shall have to buy it! :D
I couldn't stop laughing when Giselle made dresses out of the curtains. :lmao:
DivineRose - January 13, 2008 05:43 AM (GMT)
I finally saw this movie this past Sunday! I really loved it. I have (and probably always be) a huge Disney fan, so I loved all of the throwbacks to Disney films.
Yes, it may have been cliche, but it was so darn cute, and it was fun seeing how the movie got to that point.
I, too, loved when Giselle would make dresses out of the curtains and carpet. ^_^
And can anyone say Jodi Benson? I was so happy she was in the movie. I think I saw an actress from Bones at the end for a second, as well. I'm a sad person. xD
Edit: Gah, I just looked at a list of Disney references in the movie that Wikipedia had, and I missed so many! I am going to have to rewatch this movie so many times when it comes out on DVD.
Wiki claims it'll be out on DVD and Bluray on March 18, 2008.
Clorith - January 13, 2008 01:28 PM (GMT)
YES, YES! I saw Angela from Bones, too! I tugged at my friend's sleeve and squeed! :fangirl:
DivineRose - January 13, 2008 11:19 PM (GMT)
I know! I turned to my friend, and was like, "That's Michaela - she's from Bones!"
Sadly enough, my friend recognized her, and she's only seen one episode. I think that was at least a year ago, too.
Wikipedia claims she actually had lines and a named role, but they cut it out for final film.

Oooh, hooray!! Really? That isn't too far away! I will definately be purchasing it! I have the CD now as well! :hyper:
I just read through Wiki's list of references, and though I did catch a few of them there were a lot I missed too! I love that they slipped in all these references to other Disney movies- it makes me squeal, lol. Truly clever of them, don't you think? :)
DivineRose - January 14, 2008 12:22 PM (GMT)
Yes, the references were very cool. ^_^
Ugh, I need the soundtrack! Maybe I'll see if my library has it...
Sadhana - January 15, 2008 05:04 AM (GMT)
As you can tell from my avatar, I thought this movie was adorable. It was funny, and it did a good job poking fun at the Disney princess cliches. I think it's the best "princess" movie Disney's been able to make in a long time. Amy Adams was great, and this movie might really launch her career! :D
Alantie - January 15, 2008 05:36 AM (GMT)
It was a really good Princess movie! I agree, probably the best one they've released for a long time. It's sad though that Giselle won't be included in the 'official' Disney Princess line though. I think she would be marvolous in there. and I totally agree, Amy Adams was amazing in the movie. I'd never heard of her before, but this could totally launch her career. Wasn't she nominated for several awards because of the movie?

Yes, she was nominated for a Golden Globe, but she didn't win. Which is too bad, but she'll probably get a lot more roles after this. I knew who she was before this movie because she played Jim's girlfriend for a while on The Office. She was also in Catch Me if You Can, if you've seen that.

Well, Disney decided against it because they realized they would have to pay royalties to Amy Adams' image for pretty much forever. So now they just use the cartoon versions of Giselle. :lmao:
Alantie - January 15, 2008 05:07 PM (GMT)
:lmao: That figures, lol. The cartoon version of her is cute though, so it works. :D

Ah, that's too bad about not winning, but it was still pretty neat that she was nominated at all. I haven't ever seen the Office or Catch Me if You Can, but you are right, she'll probably be getting a lot more roles after this. :)

Amathala - March 20, 2008 08:05 PM (GMT)
I just bought this movie....I CANT STOP WATCHING IT!
I just adore Amy Adams, and her being the star in this film is just so wonderful. I was a little worried about her singing voice, but as soon as she began to sing the first song, I was snagged...oooh...
The Disney refrences...so much fun to look for! So far I've caught quite a few of them, and all the toys in the background of Morgan's room! I saw Belle a couple of times!
Oh! Easter egg for you all. When the Prince is on top of the bus, behind him you can see the advertisement for the "Lestat" musical. my cousin will get a big kick out of that one.
I have the songs stuck in my head >.< it sucks, because it makes me want to watch it again...and I can't...must sleep...resist the movie...
