Ok so while I was watching the game today I thought to myself who would win in a 1on1 basketball game, Cloud :cloud: or Sephiroth :sephy: Both of them have insane leaping ability and are quick as hell and I think if both of them knew how to play basketball they'd be like posterizing people left and right.

For me, as much as I idolize Cloud, the logical choice for me would be Sephy. Why? 2 words... KILLER INSTINCT! I always pictured Cloud as a guy who hates to lose and always wants to prove himself (which is I think the main reason as to why he wanted to become a member of SOLDIER) but Sephy would basically kill the opposition before he even considers letting them win. If your going to compare them to real life basketball players i'd say Cloud=kobe while Sephy=MJ


So, come on and vote.

P.S. I think Aeris and Tifa would look sooo gooood as cheerleaders :drool:

Fill in the blank and that will be my answer 99.9% of the time. A better question for me would be "Who can beat Cloud?" And I still believe Cloud could beat Superman and Goku. >_>

4) Yeah, other vs threads exist, but not one specifically about basketball. Granted, this will probably go down that route anyway, unless we get some serious bball-experts here to technically debate how Cloud's height and speed may or may not grant him a greater advantage. They'll probably be merged at some point.


Sephiroth seems like he'd have an immediate advantage (taller than Cloud and just as fast), but he falls victim to Villain Quirk #1: make fun of your enemy before finishing him off. So I'd disagree that Seph has "killer instinct", marcus-- I feel he actually toys with his prey far more than going in for the immediate kill, and the prey will have plenty of chances to turn the tables around. ;)

IMO, Cloud could own anyone, anytime he wants to. He's already beaten Sephiroth tons of times, so I see no reason why he couldn't do it on a basketball court. :mellow:

And I agree with Lynn. Sephiroth's main downfall is that he likes toying around with his prey. Cloud would have lots of time to strike back.

Even though I would really want Cloud to win, Sephiroth would own him if he got serious. Nobody knows to what extent his true powers are. He was just toying with Cloud in AC, and Safer Sephiroth's like a hundredth of his true power. If I had to estimate, Sephy's Limit Break could take down Emerald WEAPON in one shot- scratch that. He could have taken down the world if it hadn't been for the Lifestream and Holy!

Ok since I'm probably the most addicted person here when it comes to basketball then I'll be the one to try and provide an objective and unbiased analysis. Lets see...

OFFENSE:

Since I consider perimeter and long range shooting as an art, and since both of them are very skilled in the art of swordsmanship I think it wouldn't be to hard to deduce that their skill with the sword would probably reflect their skill when it comes to shooting the rock (but this is just pure guess work). Since I still consider Sephiroth as the better swordsman then... slight shooting advantage goes to sephiroth.

Speed and quickness I'd give to Cloud especially after seeing him Omnislash the living hell out of Sephiroth in FFVII and AC.

Strength and low post ability goes to sephiroth since he's bigger and taller than Cloud and I just think that he'll eat him alive down the paint.

leaping ability and dunking is about even.

and ball handling skills are probably even with a slight advantage to Cloud since both of them are good when it comes to handling swords but Cloud uses two swords simultaneously with both hands which would probably makes him a good ball handler with both the left and right hand.


DEFENSE

Stealing ability goes to Cloud since he's faster and has very good hands.

Blocking ability goes to Sephiroth because of his height and not to mention he's long arms.

On ball defense goes to Sephy since he can use his long arms to lockdown on Cloud.


Overall Offense:
shooting ability - :sephy:
speed and quickness - :cloud:
Strength and low post ability - :sephy:
Ball handling skills - :cloud:
leaping ability and dunking - even


Overall Defense:
Stealing ability - :cloud:

So Sephy (on paper) should win.

Yes you do have a point there but I think it would appeal to Sephiroth's maniacal attitude to see Cloud embarrassed in front of Aeris so what better way to embarrass him than posterizing him in front of Aeris and making him into an instant screen saver for his PC.


Now!!! if Aeris cast haste on him plus uses great gospel then that would give Cloud the immediate advantage.

At Least Sephiroth Can Slam Dunk

If I were forming a team I'd take the 6 foot guy over the 5' 7" one. Height is important.

Still, in the terms of the game 5' 7" really is far too short.

Personally, I don't really care about height. Yeah, we're talking about basketball, but we're also talking about Final Fantasy characters, who can bench press tons and jump fifty feet in the air. Cloud and Sephiroth are pretty well matched and I don't think height would really make much of a difference here. I'm still voting Cloud.

BTW, Kit I think your drawings are the best. :huggle:

And height matters not when you can jump as high as Cloud. ^^ I'm imagining something like a "Climhazard Dunk"! Kind of like a dragoon jump... but it includes getting a ball into a basket. >=)

Awesome, I can see Cloud doing Climhazzard Dunk. You can't really compare Cloud and Sephiroth to normal humans, were you forming a team. Which is why I don't believe height would be much of a hindrance to Cloud. It never has before.

Anyway, I just thought of the perfect FF dream team.

PG- Zidane Tribal (He does look a bit short)

SG- Cloud Strife (he's got mad skillz people)

SF- Squall Leonhart

PF- Tidus

C- Barret Wallace

The forward's are very small but I think Barret will more than make up for it (I think he's somewhere between 6'5" - 6'6")

Sephiroth wins this time. I'm sure basketball is just a piece of cake for him and I think he's very athletic when he was younger. Oh and yeah, he's tall.

I just remembered Akagi Takenori from Slam Dunk. He's plays center, he's big and his hair's similar to Barret's (from what I can remember).

So you watch Slam Dunk too! :lol: I just love that anime. Too bad they didn't continue it :cry: . The manga was great too although Shohoku still ended up losing in the end (they didn't even make the final 4 in the inter high <_<)

On topic: I think Seph has the slight advantage here... Even if Cloud was good at dropping bombs in the basket, Seph would still power his way to the basket due to his size advantage... And also if this happened to be BASEketball they were playing, Seph would win by a landslide because every comment he makes to Emo Cloud would make him wanna cry and he'd miss the basket. XDDD Cloud's still awesome though, heh. :sweat:
