Title: Yoshitaka Amano's Album-maten
aerithlove527 - November 19, 2007 06:29 PM (GMT)
I don't know where to put this post...
Has anyone heard of Yoshitaka Amano? He's the character designer before Testuya Nomura. He tooks charge of character designing for FF1~FF6(or FF4? sorry I'm not so sure) And also FF9!(*shock) However, the success of FF7 makes us almost forget this great guy. His paintings still appear in some logos of FF series(I remember the logo of FF Dissydia is his design).
Anyway, I just got his album of drawings called "Maten", I adore his style a looooot!! Go download it and you'll know why.
HereBDG Downloading:
open the page->key in the identified letters->wait for the countdown in another page->press the clicky and start downloading!
PM me if you still have probs in BDG downloading. :)

That's like asking if anyone has heard of Cloud Strife. :lmao:
I like his style during my abstract reality moods. Not to mention he designed a bunch of characters I like so it's all good. <3

Really? :o ....but I didn't settle any password while uploading this file.
Well, I'll try to upload it again in other downloadhost, okay? :) just you wait~

Oh, no no, the download link itself works fine! ^_^
It's just, you know when you click on the file itself to open it? A little window pops up asking to key in the password. I now have the RAR file in my computer but I can't access the pictures within it.
(BTW, if you're facing problems finding a website to upload stuff, you should try the programme,
HJ Split-- it's a programme that can split your big file into smaller pieces. It can also combine the smaller pieces back together. Very useful!)

His name is D and he's a dhampir (half vampire, half human). He's from the Vampire Hunter D novels and Yoshitaka Amano does about 6 or 7 illustrations for each novel including cover art. ^_^ He has actually released a few artbooks for just Vampire Hunter D illustrations. The novels are so awesome. :fangirl:

So far I think 8 or 9 novels have been released translated since they originated in Japan. In Japan, I think about 18 or so have been released. A manga has also just been released here which is based on the first novel. The website for the manga is
http://www.vampire-d.com and it has some awesome art of D. I know Yoshitaka Amano has more than a few Vampire Hunter D artbooks out.
The novels themselves are for ages 18+ due to the violence and sexual themes and they're about D being hired to hunt down vampires while trying to overcome the pain he has from being half vampire himself (though he never overdoes the emo since he keeps to himself). He also has a companion in the form of a parasite living in his left hand. It talks a lot and actually helps D along the way. It makes up for D's lack of talking.
The way the novels are written just gets you hooked fast if you're into dark, gothic-ish stories. Very beautiful writing.
Also, two movies have been made based on the novels (though there are many differences). The first is based on the first novel and was released in 1985 so it isn't that amazing. The second is called Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (based on the third book) and it has gorgeous visuals. I think that one was released in 2000. Very stylish movie and has a hint of vampire/human romance (though not for D).
Excellent stuff. <3 I'm very picky over what I read and I always get the novels as soon as they're released because I can never wait long. <3
This was the cover of the second movie:
