CAN'T. STOP. LISTENING. TO. THEM.

Warning, if you do not like a lot of squeeing in one post, you probably won't like this one.

Nightwish are my favourite band. Of all time. Ever. Not even closely rivalled by the second in line, Coheed and Cambria. Tuomas Holopainen is a complete genius when it comes to writing music - he creates music like no other, he is a master writer and a poet. Tarja was an amazing vocalist, probably the best that the rock scene has ever had. And now Anette has to fill her shoes and she's doing the job wonderfully. I've heard live tracks by Anette covering old songs and I actually prefer some of them performed by her. Marco is one of my favourite male vocalists and bassists. The guy's voice has such a large range from screaming on tracks such as Slaying the Dreamer and Master Passion Greed to soft singing on The Islander and While Your Lips Are Still Red.

If I were writing a review about any other band, right now I'd mention my favourite songs, but with Nightwish this is pretty impossible. I can't pick just a few. There are far too many that I love. I could say Ever Dream, but then I'm leaving out The Kinslayer. And then I'd be leaving out Ghost Love Score. Basically, every single song by Nightwish is a favourite of mine, and that's it put simply! :)

I've got tickets to go see them on the 31st of March and I don't believe I've ever been so excited for something before. I really can't wait!

I'm sure there are other fans here, so, opinions?

I just recently got into Nightwish, and while they're different, I love them. I have to admit, on a lot of songs on Oceanborn and Wishmaster, I can't understand what Tarja's saying for the majority of the song, but whatever.

I need to get Dark Passion Play, dang it. I like Anette. ^_^

I'll probably add some more stuff later...

Hehe, guess who lives in the same country as Nightwish?

I must say it's my favorite band beside Battlelore. They don't really have any songs that I DON'T like, only those that I love and those that I don't listen as much as the others. Tuomas really is a genious~

It's true that Tarja has some difficulties in pronouncing, for example: "the chest of remedy" and she pronounces it "tsieest of rämädii". Just. Horrible. Oh yeah and Elvenpath's "swords" is pronounced pretty badly, too. But I think she sang the songs in a way nobody else can. I think Anette's cool, though some old songs she sangs are...horrible. Especially Wishmaster. :( Anette did a great job in DPP, though. I can't wait for the next album (even when it's faaar in the future). :D

Aaahhh yay! Fans! :D

DR - I occasionally have the same problem. I think on Century Child and Once Tarja was a bit easier to understand, and easier on Wishmaster than on Oceanborn. However, Sacrament of Wilderness from Oceanborn is still one of my favourites, once I learned the lyrics. As for Angels Fall First...I think the highlight is just hearing Tuomas sing on The Carpenter :D And yes, you really do need to get Dark Passion Play.

Toxo - You're so lucky to live in the same country as them! I consider myself lucky because I'm from the same continent as them! I downloaded a bootleg recording of a recent Nightwish concert with Anette singing some of the old songs...I was actually pleasantly surprised, for the most part. Wishmaster is nothing special, sure, but I think she makes Sacrament of Wilderness better than it originally was. I love her version of She is my Sin too. As for Ever Dream...I can't decide who I like better singing that one. She had a lot to live up to, and I think she's doing a pretty fine job.

It's a shame that they won't play songs like Phantom of the Opera, Meadows of Heaven and Over the Hills and Far Away live anymore...I would've liked to have seen them. Meadows of Heaven, I can sort of understand since it's VERY orchestral. Phantom of the Opera, maybe Anette can't sing that high, or maybe it was just Tarja's song. As for Over the Hills and Far Away, I think Tuomas just got bored of it, lol.

Yeah, the only CD I have is Oceanborn. Everything else I have is whatever free mp3s I could find. I don't even really own Oceanborn; I just found it at the library and put it on my iTunes. That's what I'm planning on doing with DPP...

I'll just put their CDs on my birthday/Christmas wish list and see what happens. ^_^

Yeah, I highly doubt Anette's voice is enough to pull off something like Phantom of the Opera. But there's nothing wrong with it - atleast for me.

I think Anette should stay in the newer songs as the older ones are more for an opera singer. For example in Once Tarja was leaving a bit of the opera side aside, so the songs are easier for Anette to sing. :) And the newest album has songs made for her voice range~

I wish they'd make a music video of Sahara. D: Even though I don't think that'll happen, but one can hope.
