Title: Mysterious Melodies
Description: An Ode To Eternal Sonata
NekoDono - November 9, 2007 01:04 AM (GMT)
Xbox 360 is not a very RPG savy system, although it has tons of great games (Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is on XBox 360 and it is considered the best game ever!) But the one new RPG on Xbox 360 is sheer beauty: Eternal Sonata. If you are a fan of ES, Chopin,
PolkaxAllegretto then please do join!

I AM JOINING. NOW.
I have not played this game yet, Neko, but your images in the pairing image war and all these lovelinesses are making me squee over it. Everyone's SO gorgeous, and I REALLY need to play it!
Sign me up. <3 I love music, I love gorgeous characters, and I can tell I'm going to go SPASMODIC over this game. <3
Long live Eternal Sonata! <3333
KeKe - November 10, 2007 04:58 AM (GMT)
I'll join!
I haven't played either (curse my lack of a next-gen console), but I've been interested since I saw the commercial. The idea of Chopin in a RPG amused me. And your images are so lovely, Neko, that now I really want to play!
illwaitforever1 - November 10, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
Ooooo, I'm getting ES for Christmas!!
Sign me up please, Polka and Allegretto are adorable.
NekoDono - November 10, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)
Welcome everyone! It's sad to see I'm the only person who has played ES but still! You guys will and when you do I am sure you all will love it. In the new PS3 version you get two more playable characters: Prince Crescendo and Serenade.
Lutearina - November 10, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
Oooh, that's what I heard! I might wait for the PS3 version, because I'm way more likely to buy a PS3 than an XBox 360. I've never liked XBoxes...xD
Ahhh, and I looove the way Prince Crescendo and Serenade look! I can already tell that I'm going to love them.
I also like Allegretto and Polka...So cute! And Jazz and Claves...Ugh, so many awesome characters. D:
Count Waltz looks intriguing, LOL. I like his character design. >w<
Sadly, I can't seem to find the concept art for all of them! Only some. ;-;
NekoDono - November 11, 2007 12:27 AM (GMT)
:lmao: You and I can squee over Prince CrescendoxSerenade, PolkaxAllegeretto, and JazzxClaves! *burnz Falsetto*
Want me to link a site full of pictures and info for you guys? ^_^
Scott - November 11, 2007 01:40 AM (GMT)
I WANT TO JOIN! Got the game today and I am so amazed at how this game has just enslaved me so quickly. It reminds me of the times when I was young and captivated by good RPGs (FF for the PS1, anyone?). This is what all games should be like. Absolutely stunning!
Hades' Daughter - November 11, 2007 04:24 AM (GMT)
Not here to join yet, since I haven't played the game. Just thought I'd drop by and mention that I'm patiently waiting for the PS3 version. I saw trailers of the game a little while back and it looks so friggin' gorgeous. Brings back many fond memories of Secret of Mana. I'm really hoping the storyline will live up to its pretty graphics. ^^
NekoDono - November 11, 2007 03:00 PM (GMT)
Welcome Scott! What point are you at?
You'll love it HD, don't worry. I'm more than happy with it. ^_^
I'll hold off of discussion until everyone has played it. But I have sooo much I wanna say!

lol, I'm not very far. Polka has just ran away from Gretto and Beat and headed towards the cave. Just saved it at that point. But I seriously can't get enough of it. I actually enjoy the battles, I'd probably be a lot further if I hadn't kept running into every enemy on the map. The special attacks are so damn cool. Plus, I'm studying the romantic period in music just now, so I'll be able to show off my knowledge about Chopin!
NekoDono - November 12, 2007 04:16 PM (GMT)
Get movin', buddy! That's so early on!
I think it is funny how in the Japanese version Jazz's name is Jitterbug and the game is called Trusty Bell: Chopin's Dream. I'm not exactly sure where the "Trusty Bell" comes into play. Anyone else here hate Falsetto or Viola yet?

Hey, I can't get movin', it didn't get released until just about a week ago!
No idea about Trusty Bell, but at least Jitterbug is still somewhat related to music.
I'm liking Viola for now. She's tough as nails and is great fun in battle. She and Beat make good long distance offenders. Haven't seen Falsetto yet.
Plus Count Waltz is so lazy. How does a 16 year old get to be a Count?!
My favourites characters just now are Chopin and Polka. Chopin is just underdeniably cool with his gentleman's coat, plus his Piu Grave move is great to watch once you've built up some combo points. Polka is just adoreable.
Lutearina - November 12, 2007 11:50 PM (GMT)
YES, Neko! Link me up. <333
Ahh, yes, we shall squee over the CxS, AxP, and JxC...<33333
Hmmm, hmmm, I saw some person on DA compare the ClavesxJazzxFalsetto LT thing to the AerithxCloudxTifa one. They thought Claves was like Aerith, because "she's weak and the way she looks". LOL. People, people. xD Well, it's kind of similar....The childhood-knowing of each other and stuff. Haha, but the person liked Falsetto, apparently because "she's strong". D: Now how does that sound familiar? xDDD Really, judging a character based on physical strength...Geh. (Haha, at least we know that Claves is the luvah. Pwned, Falsetto. <3)
NekoDono - November 13, 2007 12:07 PM (GMT)
http://www.rpgamer.com/games/other/xbox2/t...ustybellss.htmlYes, and there is never any change of affections! Claves was in my party all the time so, once again, it is up to the individual to decide who is strong. I used Polka, Claves, and Jazz. They kicked ass! Falsetto was left in the dust with Beat and Viola. XD
Favorite Line
| QUOTE (Prince Crescendo) |
| There are so few women with so great a burden as Polka. Death sleeps on her shoulders so she is strong. But I care not for that. I find there is a beautiful serenity in sad purple eyes. |
You know who he is talkin' about! :hyper:
Lutearina - November 14, 2007 12:26 AM (GMT)
I love you, Neko. xD AND THAT QUOTE NOW. <33
ZOMG, I can totally tell he's going to be my favorite character. D:
I find princes undeniably attractive for some odd reason.
Chyeah, one of the main characters in my soon-to-be-novel is a prince. xDAhhh, purple eyes....I love 'em. One of my other characters has purple eyes. xD
Ohohohoho, I love Jazz! He looks very intriguing. D: Hoorah for awesome characters!
Thanks for the link, BTW! The official site also has gorgeous music and many pictures:
http://eternalsonata.namcobandaigames.com/AUGH. DO YOU SEE THAT PICTURE OF CHOPIN PLAYING THE PIANO IN THE FLOWERFIELD?!!?!
I WANT IT. IN HIGH QUALITY. NOWZ. :tard:
The concept of the game is amazing in itself, and the gorgeous characters make it even better. I love music and dreams....GAH. <33 Fantastic.
NekoDono - November 15, 2007 12:07 AM (GMT)
Chopin is awesome. I love his music. It was simply magical!
Who can deny JxC, PxA, and CxS? They're...like fecking canon!
I find Count Waltz amusing. You find out something very interesting about him later but I won't spoil it.
Lutearina - November 15, 2007 12:11 AM (GMT)
I love the canon. <3 Ahhh. <33 xDD
Count Waltz?! Interesting?! O: I'm already interested in Mr. Waltz, so I bet it'll be great. xD No spoilage for me! I'm intrigued now, though. xD
LOL, I showed my friend a picture of Count Waltz (my photos are on my iPod xD) and she said, "Y'know, he's pretty hot for a bad guy." I was laughing. XDDD

Count Waltz > Sephiroth
I think Claves hair is pink personally but I can see where one might think it was purple.
Awe, we used to fight over pairings but now we find love in ES!
KeKe - November 18, 2007 06:13 AM (GMT)
Ugh, went to WalMart today, and I swear the game was staring at me! It was just sitting there, longing for a home... I was ready to shell out sixty bucks just to hold it!
I'm dying here. Someone save me. Y_Y
NekoDono - November 21, 2007 12:11 PM (GMT)
I swear, one day Polka x Allegretto will be as famous as Cloud x Aerith. When you guys play through it perhaps we can convene to discuss everything!
KeKe - November 24, 2007 01:07 AM (GMT)
Well, a friend of mine is getting a PS3, so when it comes out I'll buy ES and play it whenever he comes home from college.
Why yes, I'm desperate.
Kit - December 1, 2007 02:23 PM (GMT)
XxUpdatexX
Here are some screens from the PS3 version of ES! Enjoy!
Thank you, Jeux-FranceAs much as I love Crescendo I can't say I love his weapon. I was hoping for something of a scimitar rather than a mace. At least Serenade is a staff weilder!
Lutearina - December 1, 2007 08:08 PM (GMT)
Ahh, Neko! We may disagree over a couple pairings, but they're merely a trifle when compared to our great loves. xD
OOOH. SCREENS. *eats them* D:
LOLOMG. WHEN I SAW WHAT THE PRINCE WAS HOLDING, I THOUGHT IT WAS AN UMBRELLA.
Haha. Prince Crescendo = Aerith. O:
What in the name of heck IS he holding!? It..Looks like a shield on a staff. D: I pictured him with a sword-ish thing, you know? With those colors that would match his outfit. D: And it would be kind of thick. Yeah. Like Allegretto's, kinda. xD
OH, I SEE IT NOW. Ew. It looks like a deranged hammer. D:
Serenade is adorable, though. I love everyone's detailed character designs, ugh.
Kit - December 1, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
His weapon is a mace and shield. I always saw more of a...scimitar or rapier but it'll do I suppose. Serenade = Aerith XD
Serenade and Polka seem to be tag team white mages which makes VERY happy.
Trusty Bell bits for my Bellers! (That's what I'll call us!)
Drivin'...Bell StyleYou'll Wish It Were YoursTee-Hee!
MistaCloudStrife - December 28, 2007 08:46 AM (GMT)
I'll join now before I get the game. I'm planning on getting a PS3 when ES comes out for it. I was previously planning on getting a 360 to play it, but when my friend said that the PS3 version was going to have extras, I changed my mind. =)
Kit - December 28, 2007 04:58 PM (GMT)
Welcome to Mysterious Melodies! Yeah, I've been playing the Trusty Bell version as of late and am beginning to notice neat little differences. Quite interesting! Jeff got a PS3 so I told myself I may as well get the PS3 version as well. I just love Prince Crescendo and Princess Serenade that much! XD
illwaitforever1 - December 28, 2007 06:09 PM (GMT)
I'm not that far in the game. I just beat the flying whatever it was in Agogo Forest(love the name) and now I'm back to Polka and Chopin.
I love all the VAs, apart from Polka, it's to high and squeaky for a 14 year old.

Agreed. Her Japanese and English VAs are both pretty damn dreadful. I just finished Trusty Bell tonight. I am pleased over all. Although hearing Japanese people desperately trying, and failing, to say English words was hillarious. :lmao:
illwaitforever1 - December 29, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
Who was that guy that totally owned Polka and Chopin's butts in Agogo Forest?

I didn't think she was 14 to begin with, then it said on the Status screen, "Age 14" and I was like, "How is she the same age as me, my voice is nothing like that!"
Ha, I just found out an hour ago you can listen to the game music. How slow am I?
Kit - December 29, 2007 05:06 PM (GMT)
 Don't worry. The music is not a big deal.
That was SPOILERFugue, Count Waltz's assassinEND SPOILER who attacked them although he wasn't aware they had any significance.
I am curious on how they will change the run away scene in the PS3 version. I don't want the group to come along. It'd lose how romantic it was.
illwaitforever1 - December 29, 2007 05:12 PM (GMT)
Oh.... I see.
Bah, I was like :o when he beat me like that *insert click of fingers*
But Chopin afterwards, with his basket. Quite adorable.
Kit - January 3, 2008 03:09 AM (GMT)
I didn't get the whole basket thing. I was like "What was he doing!?". XD
I beat it in about... 4 days in my first go. Trusty Bell took me 3. And I hope the PS3 version will take even less time than that.
SPOILERSI love how when you go to the land of the dead you get to see Claves again. Her scene with Chopin was so sad but very pretty. Nooooo I can't ship CxC! I'm JxC!!! Still, I liked his scene with Wodzinska. Sure he had a temporary romance with George Sand but seeing him play while she sang made me squee. Plus historically they were engaged.END SPOILERS
Sorry, that was buggin' me.

The music is one of my favourite things about this game. It's what sets it apart from others by a mile. Chopin is one of my favourite romantic composers and to hear the background on how each piece was composed and be able to hear the pieces wonderfully restored is really something amazing. The whole soundtrack of the game is magical, and the music is quite possibly the best part.

What I meant was that you don't really sit and play the game music from the menu that much. Besides, the music is okay and Chopin was a fairly good musician. (I personally prefer Vivaldi but...) I liked its appearance the most. Very bright and colorful but clean looking unlike Star Ocean, The Tales of Series, The Mana series, or Fire Emblem.
Lutearina - January 4, 2008 06:50 AM (GMT)
Ooooh, I LOVE Chopin's music. Especially the prelude, Raindrops. Something about his music is captivating and invigorating. Love to the classical composers, plz. <3
illwaitforever1 - January 5, 2008 04:41 PM (GMT)
I am stuck! And I don't want to look at a FAQ.
I'm in Fort Fermata, and the whole switch thing has totally confused me.
Kit - January 6, 2008 12:14 AM (GMT)
Oh it is hard and took me a little while to figure out. You'll get it eventually. It's the only hard puzzle in the game so don't worry.
illwaitforever1 - February 2, 2008 03:46 PM (GMT)
I am out! I am so proud of myself! (Ha, it took me almost a month! I've spent my time on Oblivion.)
I'm now in Andante (the graveyard bit). At least I think that's how you spell it.
Polka went bye-bye for a while, YAY! (I've now decided I don't like her and her voice)
Ahem, my favourite character, BEAT. I love him, he's so cute! But he's rubbish at being a clam, honestly.
2nd favourite character, Chopin. He can have my babies anyday. :P
But my friend decided to tell me who the final boss is, and ohmigosh!
Frederic, I love you! Don't make me do it!
Edit:
1. Count Waltz's laugh is scary!
2. I prefer the Japanese voices.
3. After going through that hole, why are there bubble people?
Kit - March 8, 2008 02:01 AM (GMT)
The bubble people are the souls of the dead. You're in the realm of the dead. XD
