Title: Top 10 Games
Description: Lemme guess... 95% of you will put VII.
NekoDono - October 24, 2007 09:01 PM (GMT)
10) Fable: The Lost Chapters - So much to do yet so little time. You can ignore the quest cards for as long you like and do what you want. The lack of constraint is great. You can play your own way. So beautifully non-linear.
9) Kingdom Hearts - I hate to admit it but I really do like this game. It's much better than II or CoM. It's cute, it's funny, creative, and very unexpected. I don't like how in CoM and II that the Disney villains had almost no involvement. (Pete hardly did anything...) But the original was gold.
8) Viva Piņata - So cute. It's bright, fun, cute, non-offensive, and just plain silly. The idea of raising brightly colored paper animals is so fun that I just can't help but love it. This poor game doesn't get the love it deserves.
7) Final Fantasy - The original was great. I loved my little priestess, red mage, thief, and black mage. I felt more bonded to them than Cloud or Zidane. Plus the game is huge for the time it was made. I often get lost the map was so large. Plus there was so much to do! Like fighting Bahamut to gain higher status.
6) Mario Kart - Back when I was but a small girl we had an SNES. With it was the original Mario Kart. It was love. Racing against my brother, battling with the little orbs... It was one of my first games and truly it was one of the best.
5) Shenmue - Don't ask me why I love this DreamCast classic but there was something charming about it. Going around asking people to find me sailors, offering people to play "Lucky Hit", and searching for the man who killed my father were just heart winners. Plus the zombie like personality of Ryo Hazuki is all too amusing.
4) Resident Evil 3: Nemesis - My first survival horror game. Setting aside sloppy controls, the sheer heart pounding fear this game brought on was brilliant. You have to keep moving or else Nemesis will catch you and kill you in a most terrible way. Scary for a 12 year old, I assure you.
3) Silent Hill 2 - Speaking of survival horror games, this game scared me shitless. Three years after beating Nemesis I needed a new survival horror game and this did just the trick. Ultra scary, intriguing story and characters, and pretty good controls once you got the hang of it.
2) Final Fantasy Tactics - Unlike its hideous bastard child called Tactics Advanced, Tactics allowed for free forming of your party. You had who and what you wanted with out limitations. The story was fascinating, the characters unique, combat required strategy, and did I mention tons and tons of side quests? The bar offers were good, getting the machine and Cloud was fun, and I enjoyed just strolling about Ivalice.
1) Trauma Center: Second Opinion - That's right, a Wii game. It's hard, it can be funny, the characters are charming, but most of all the game play is fantastic. You actually feel much more tense than you'd expect. If you play the game seriously (although it can be very funny if you don't) you really feel a sense of accomplishment. Love to you Dr. Stiles.

1. Tetris Attack!
I love this game so much it hurts. <33 I think it's even better than the original Tetris, and it beats the pants off of Pokemon Puzzle.
2. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
I beat this game a thousand times at least, and that's really something considering that I usually don't even finish games. :lmao:
3. Final Fantasy VII
I won't waste my breath telling you why. XD
4. Animal Crossing
I have wasted more hours of my life on this game than you can possibly imagine.
5. Kirby's Adventure
OLD SCHOOL YEEEEAAHHH. <33 I loved this game so effin much.
6. Tales of Symphonia
people need to stop hating on Colette, I loved her. >: GENIS WAS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER I LOVE HIM <3
7. Kingdom Hearts
Loved it far more than KHII. The story was much better when it was simpler, imo.
8. Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
THIS GAME NEVER GETS ENOUGH LOVE >:
9. Age of Empires
I'm not big on PC games, but I played the hell out of this one. I love it to DEATH. (Age of Mythology is pretty rockin' too)
10. Final Fantasy IV
Tellah the Sage was the greatest. ;_;

:huggle: Good game. My only problem was that it gave me HORRIBLE Skies of Arcadia flash backs. Uuuuuugh....
AND KIRBY RULES! (Kirby Super Star Saga is crack I tell you!!)
Angelwing Aeris - October 24, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
FFVII
no explanation needed :cleris: Sephiroth is the best villian in history who doesn't love this hot bad guy?
Devil May Cry
Who can resist the hotness named Dante?
FFIX
Zidane and Kuja are different from most heros vs. villians relationships. They are brothers. Plus it has Eiko and Garnet two of my favorite FFGirls. Kuja's also a theatre actor at heart and destroyed Terra in 30 seconds.
FFIV
Cecil is the most awesome hero ever. No other FF hero changes his job class. Plus I love Paladins. Rosa is a great heroine, and Rydia is one of my favorite Summoners.
FFXII
Finally a strong heroine and princess has been created, go Ashe :D . Vayne is a suave villian since there not many princes as villians and ones that make such convincing propagranda speeches. And who could forget our resident "leading man" Balthier? He made the game for me.
FFX
Tidus is an awesome character and Yuna is one of my favorite heroines. After all the sending FMV is sure beauty and Lake scene is beautiful, and the ending is teary.
FFVI
Terra is an awesome heroine and Celes is a strong female general who doesn't need to be rescued and has my favorite quote in the game:
Edgar: "Locke has a complicated past. I wouldn't want to think he's fallen for you or something."
Celes: "I'm a soldier, not some love-starved twit!"
FFII
Firion is a great hero and Maria is one of my favorite quiet heroines. Their dance is really cool. The Emperor of Palamecia is one handsome villian, that can turn into light and dark versions of himself. Besides a bad guy that summons fire? I can't resist.
FFIII
Luneth is a great hero and Aria is one of my favorite tragic heroines. The bosses in this game are challenging and working to get all 23 job classes was intense leveling up. One of my favorite classic FF games that features the crystals, no messy love story & a villian named Xande. Who can resist this?
FFVIII
I love Squall, he has the soul of an emo guy and he's hot. Rinoa is one of my favorite heroines because she's different. Her child like behavior is annoying but her heart's in the right place.

Some of my favs...
Silent Hill II: I just love, love everything about it. It's perfect in my eyes.
Metal Gear Solid III: Another perfect game, and the first to make me cry.
Star Wars: Battlefront. I love the war aspect of Star Wars and this game delivered.
Final Fantasy VII: My first FF game. Contains my most favorite character ever.
Tomb Raider II: Fun series in general. This one I played the most.
Ecco The Dolphin: The Tides of Time. A childhood favorite. Bought it for a buck 99 from Ebay to relive it.
Resident Evil 4: While I'm fond of RE2. RE4 is just too shiny to ignore! XD
Half Life: All round fun epic game.
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening: Another childhood fav.
Shadow Of the Colossus: Not a game, an experience!.
MistaCloudStrife - October 25, 2007 07:00 AM (GMT)
In no particular order...
Final Fantasy VII: The most obvious choice.
Star Ocean The Second Story: Lovable characters and nice gameplay.
Suikoden II: Amazing storyline. Made use of all of the characters in the storyline so you could easily stray from the story and play around.
Lunar The Silver Star: Good old classic love story. The only other RPG I would consider as epic as Final Fantasy VII.
Grandia II: It's the kind of game you won't stop playing until you beat it. Love it.
Xenogears: Great battle system. Kicks sagas butt, even though on the second disc you could obviously tell they were skimping on money.
Valkyrie Profile: A bit confusing when I first played it, but it was fun nonetheless.
Legend of Dragoon: One in a lifetime game. I doubt I'll ever find an RPG like this one. Very nice game.
Tales of Destiny: 2D side scrolling battle system in an RPG. Pure genius.
DDR: Had to put something that wasn't an RPG, and this is it. I've been a long time fan of DDR and played ever since the first mix came out in Japan. My favorite mix is 4th Mix. =P
NekoDono - October 25, 2007 08:03 AM (GMT)
XD It seems many of us have differing tastes.
I like RPGs a lot and have played many but most seem to be the same as the others. I didn't like VII that much. It's like... #24 on my top 30. A lot of the FF games are that way. 1 & Tactics are the two truly great FFs.

Probably like #13 in my top 20. Lovely game. (The first Suikoden is like #11)
I don't like the idea of being only into one series or genre! Let's spread our wings!
Toxo - October 25, 2007 08:07 AM (GMT)
FFVII doesn't belong to my top 10 games. Please don't kill me. ;_;
1) Final Fantasy XII - The graphics, the story, LARSA <3 and awesome music + characters.
2) Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 - Do I really need to tell why?
3) Final Fantasy IX - No other game has made me laugh as hard as this one.
4) Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Vieras <3
5) Final Fantasy II - Poor story, poor character backgrounds etc., yet I love this game for some reason.
6) Final Fantasy IV - Spoony bard!
7) Final Fantasy VI - Awesome story, music, characters and the ever mighty Ultros~
8) Settlers IV - I've been a Settlers fan as long as I remember and I always watched my brother play them. This game has so pretty graphics and the music is so beautiful.
9) Call of Duty - Kehehe, I love shooting games. x']
10) Hidden and Dangerous 2 - Same~

Ha, ha YES! You can't mess around with the crowbar!
My brother would definitely disagree, thought. His obsessed with everything Halo, but for some reason I never got into the series. Although I got to admit, I do like MC's character and the soundtracks to the games are some of the best ever created. Perhaps, one day I'll play seriously through the series from beginning to end.
Also, I was looking through my list and I regret that I didn't include The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, or Advance Wars 2, or Street Fighter II, gah what I was thinking! >_<
Hades' Daughter - October 25, 2007 02:53 PM (GMT)
These are my top 10, but I really love them almost to the same degree.
Teehee, I just know Neko is going to wuv my list.
1)FFVI - I adore this game to death. A colorful cast of characters, beautiful storyline, and the music was just beyond exceptional. Ja, I cried my eyes out during the Solitary Island scene. Only had to play this game like...3 times before I discovered Cid didn't have to die. >_<
2)Secret of Mana - Most memorable game EVER. Music was magical.
The world was so bright, cheerful, and pretty despite the fact that it was doomed and in grave peril.
3)Legend of Dragoon - I quote MCS: "One in a lifetime game. I doubt I'll ever find an RPG like this one." I was really enthralled with the places and the people in this game. I liked how bits and pieces of the legend (gorgeous CG rendered) were brought up at various places throughout the game and not all in one sitting.
4)Lufia 1 - An old classic. It was pretty much your basic RPG...but I loved the little twist to the ending. Just too beautiful and tragic at the same time. *tears*
5)Chrono Trigger - Hee...there was just too much little fun things to do in this game for me not to enjoy. Plus, time traveling here was like...whoa!!! :D
6)FFIV - First RPG I played that contained a solid storyline. I've been hooked on RPGs ever since.
7)Grandia 2 - Ryudo. Ryudo. Ryudo. The hero is such a jerk, but unlike boring Squall, he's all fun and amusement. I couldn't help but enjoy how he teased and picked on Elena endlessly. That was uber cute. I also liked the whole idea of good and evil being one. It was sort of neat.
8)FFVII & FFIX - I know I'm cheating on this one, but I love these two games equally...for very different reasons. FFIX had a medieval feel to its world and it was really more fairy tale-like than anything, but that was what I loved so much about it. On the other hand, VII's story had more depth and everything about it had a more realistic feel, but what I liked about it was its cast of characters and how exceptionally well they fit into their rolls, particularly Cloud and Aerith (duh, right?).
9)Legend of Legaia 1 - Asides from having liked the characters and storyline, the battle system was really interesting and fun to watch.
10)Chrono Cross - gorgeous, gorgeous music and world. Story line was pretty different and parts of it were confusing at first...but that actually made the game all the more intriguing, IMO.
Anti-R - October 26, 2007 12:05 AM (GMT)
1. Kingdom Hearts series. I happen to like crossovers. Yes, this is Disney we're talking about, and they're not being impressive in the animation department recently. But darnit, fighting that Maleficent Dragon is cool!!! And having a cute main character who doesn't angst wielding a possibly deus ex machina giant key who can have a serious conversation from whimsical Winnie the Pooh to badass Auron tickled my fancy.
2. Suikoden series. If main bishie trying to unite a country and make it a better place by recruiting many heroes and macro managing your homebase and kicking enemy bootie in a large army scale at the side isn't enough to convince you to get this awesome game, I guess nothing will.
3. Resident Evil series. Nothing relieves stress more than shooting zombies trying to eat your main character. Really, it helps. Parasite Eve gets a special mention here.
4. Persona 3 the tale of a newly transferred high school student who, by day, found himself preparing for exams or club activities or even a date. Then goes butt kicking, head-shooting, summoning personas while killing nasty beasties with a sword by night. I still cannot get over the fact Japanese still have classes in Christmas Eve. >.<
5. Metal Gear Solid 3 Survival/Tactics at its finest. It's probably the only game that makes me crave to eat snake meat raw. Also has a great cast, and the ending made me cry.
6. Harvest Moon Back To Nature Yes, you're basically a farmer raising things. But this game is so addictive, I found myself still playing it after everything was said and done.
7. Shinobido You play as a ninja who serves three different feudal lords. You get to do cool stuff like assassination, kidnapping, stealing, body guarding and occasionally beating people up while making your own potions and overlooking traps to protect your house.
8. Super Robot Wars series. Chibi mechas from various mecha anime band together to defeat the forces of evil. Wanna see GW Heero Yuy and FMP Sousuke Sagara bond over protein food? You can have it in this game. A very broad and action pack crossover series. Unfortunately not likely translated/ship over in the NA, for obvious reasons.
9. Diablo You play a hero trying to save a dying town from demonic forces who made their base of operations beneath the earth. I got quite depressed by the downer ending. Took me awhile to get over it.
10. Xenogears. Giant robots, fantasy world, sci-fi, evil churches, it's all here. Plus it introduce me to the Most Screwed Up Main Character Ever in the form of Fei. Fortunately, he and the love of his life finally get their happily ever after in the end, because their past life affairs always ends up in tragedy. Wonderful character arcs on the other main characters, supporting characters, heck even the bad guys, great music and an epic history behind its world, its a shame it derailed so much in Xenosaga.

Kaldea - October 26, 2007 01:32 AM (GMT)
I'm not putting these in order. I'm listing them how they come to me.
i. Resident Evil 4 (Wii)
Most fun I have ever had playing a game. Not to mention the stress relief. Leon's Gangsta outfit + Chicago Typewriter = ENDLESS ENJOYMENT. AND OH DEAR, MORE LEON/ADA.
ii. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
Amazing game. If only all games were as fun. This one was more of an experience than just a "game".
iii. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (GBC)
Absolute classic. I would die if Nintendo remade this game. The story was awesome, the characters are memorable, gameplay is better than most games made today and the end made me shed a tear. D:
iv. Silent Hill 2 (PS2)
THE STORY. <333 Out of all SH games, this one is the most memorable. Also has the biggest, most satisfying twist ever.
v. Xenogears (PS)
I was skeptical when I started playing this one, but the depth of the story and the characters made it impossible for me to dislike. Amazing game for an RPG. The battle system wasn't even all that bad.
vi. Resident Evil 2 (N64)
The characters, the story, the enemies, and even the guns made me love this game to death when it came out. I prefer the N64 version though. LEON AND ADA PLZ. Claire was nothing but annoying as usual with her roles in the series.
vii. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
This should be a given. The game was FUN. That's rare lately.
viii. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
The Wii controls made this one amazingly fun to play. They granted my wish and expanded on the OoT map, though I still prefer OoT Link. My only complaint is how annoying Ilia and the kids were. It was lame having to save them when Ilia actually tried to make herself look useful when she obviously fails. And any game that has Midna is an automatic favorite in my opinion.
ix. Twisted Metal 2 (PS)
SUCH A FUN GAME TO PLAY. Whoever knew destroying Paris and New York with weaponry strapped to your car would be so enjoyable.
x. Marvel vs Capcom 2 (PS2)
This > Every other fighting game.
Honorable mentions: Goldeneye 64 (N64), Yoshi's Story (N64), Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2), Mario Kart 64 (N64), Bubble Bobble (N64), FFXII (PS2), Legend of Zelda: LttP (SNES), Ico (PS2), Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)
I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but they'll come to me. I've played too many games over the years.
::CloudSmiles:: - October 26, 2007 02:20 AM (GMT)
I love very many games, but at the moment, these come to mind as my favorites.
No particular order:
...Okay, forget that.
1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: In my oppinion, one of, if not the, greatest games ever made. My childhood favorite, played it tons of times, still the greatest time I've ever spent playing a game.
The rest are in no particular order:
Final Fantasy VII: My very favorite FF. I love everything about it. Plus it introduced me to Cloud Strife. Automatic favorite.
Starfox 64: I am a huge Starfox fan. Great series, this is probably the best game in it, though I love them all {aside from Assault, which was crap}.
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past: Great fun.
Metal Gear Solid: Meh. I like the whole series, but the original is the one I remember enjoying most. Imagine that.
Kingdom Hearts Series gets an honerable mention.
I'll add more later, gotta go...

My Top 10 GAMES
#10. Digimon world 2 - Hmmm, I like this game but I have no idea why.
#9. Counter Strike - Headshots and backstabbing. Made me want to join the Army!
#8. Diablo II - Got addicted to it when I was in 1st yr. HS
#7. NBA Live - Kobe is unstoppable!!!
#6. Dead or Alive series - Hmmmmmmmmmmm... bouncy...
#5. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw - Very nice way to vent some anger.
#4. Monster Rancher 2 - I have absolutely no idea why but every time I play this game, it produces the same effect as me smokin crack.
#3. Kingdom Hearts - Revived my fervor for Cleris (still believe that Sora is Cloud and Aeris kid.)
#2. FF7 - need I say more
#1. DOTA - There's just something about hearing the words: HOLY SHIT!!! And reading the words: ZAIDO BLUE IS GODLIKE!!! SOMEBODY KILL HIM!!!
Pyra Kurai Akaidra - October 26, 2007 10:26 PM (GMT)
Though I never did played those US/Japan-only games (I'm looking at you, Chrono games) that people seems to like very much, I did manage to form a list in no particular order.
Shadow Hearts: Covenant
The story, the colourful cast and oddly addicting battle system (COMMAND THE JUDGEMENT RING); I just plain love it. Many scenes made me laugh, gape and cry (i.e. Yuri/Alice scenes), even if I haven't played the earlier games. For players, remember the Man Festival? :lmao:
Breath of Fire IV
What got me into serious RPG, seriazly. There's something appealing about the interwining fates, the use of dragons, the fun battle system that actually let you switch party members in battle for the PS1 and the best part; playing as Fou-Lu = WINZ :fangirl:
Ape Escape games
Though some characters' names vary between regions, it is what videogames is at one fine point: Fun. Who knew running after and capturing monkeys before they succeed in world domination or whatever Spector planned is fun? You just can't go wrong when one of the Freaky Monkey Five use FARTS as his weapon.
Dragon Quest: Journey of the Cursed King
One of the reason why I like the merger between Square and Enix, it actually brings some of the Enix games to PAL shores and I found myself enjoying this oddly nostalgic game. Must be the fairytale-like plot, or the characters (gotta love Angelo's comment on Morrie when you consult your party members), or the simple battle system. I get many LOLZ from Toriyama's artwork on the move.
Kingdom Hearts
You can't go wrong with a kid beating up villains with a giant key. And when you get certain FF characters talking to Disney seriously.
Final Fantasy IX
First ever FF to play, I love it. Likeable characters (not sure about Amarant), awesome villain and whatnot. It got Vivi and Kuja, what more can you ask?
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Playable Moogles and Vieras = Held the record for the most hours spent and wasted of my life.
Megaman Battle Network: Team Protoman
Improved battle system and instant win for having Protoman as a playable character. Though I do questioned having a Fire-type boss after going through a water-type dungeon network...
Pokemon series
Admittedly, one of the most replayed games yet whenever I feel like trying a different starter Pokemon and to see if I can manage to get the best team ever.
Final Fantasy X
Auron. Yuna's Sending FMV. Auron. First FF to own. Auron. Unique characters. Auron.
Yeah.

Thanks! <3
And I guess I mainly found her voice very irritating. That and all the delusional Claire/Leon fans really messed her up for me. If she's in a new RE game and she's actually more tolerable (I still didn't like her much in Code: Veronica), I'm sure I won't have much of a problem with her.

lol I really like Claire/Leon(LeonxAda rock though) but in no way believe they're an official couple or were ever intended to be.
I think a huge reason why I do like them is because of Steve and I'd enjoy never seeing him in anything RE related ever again. :puke:
Ultima Star - October 27, 2007 01:31 AM (GMT)
Ok ten games..ok..no particular order:
Final Fantasy VII.-
No specifical reason :cleris:
Kingdom Hearts
An awesome SE game I love it ^^ and Sora it's just so cute, the gameplay it's awesome and I was like 'wow' when I played it haha.
Final Fantasy VIII
Eh..a really lovely FF I so enjoyed playing it haha it was so cool and romantic hehe and Squall was hot..I mean..eh..ah...haha XD
Bust a Groove
A game made by Enix (wihtout Square haha) it was just so awesome and the first game I played on my PS1 ^^
I'll add more when I remember....

I agree with you there. I never liked Steve. There were very few characters in C:V that I liked, though I adore Alexia's first transformation. :fangirl:
The rabid Claire/Leon fans are quite ridiculous. D: I personally can't see them together at all since there is no chemistry there (they were the two main playable characters and that was it. Same logic as Vincent/Yuffie to me), but I can see why people can casually pair them up.
Andina - October 28, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
1. Final Fantasy VII takes this spot, first game ever that made me really emotional.
2. Suikoden II is as clear 2nd as FFVII is 1st.
3. This spot is hard to decide, but I think I have to give it to Planescape: Torment.
4. to Infinity! All other FF games, including Tactics, Kingdom Hearts I and II, perhaps Baldur's Gate I and II and Suikoden I, the first Wild Arms and the Ocarina of Time.
Mmm, and last but not least my very first rpg ever that I never forget, Knightmare II: The Maze of Galious.
Wintercream - November 16, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
-Drumrolls.- xDD
1. Fire Emblem: Path or Radiance - The Gameplay, storyline, graphics, music, Charactors, Battle System were all simply amazing IMHO.
2. Poke'mon Diamond - Need i say more?
3. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess No comments needed here.
4. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (PoR II) - Agian, simply amazing
5. The Kingdom Hearts Series - I can't wait until II comes out!!
6. DDR - Just in general
And my brain stops here.
:/
EDIT:
7. Sonic the Hedgehog games.
I can't belive I had forgotten those!!
Yukari - December 11, 2007 01:23 AM (GMT)
How have I not seen this thread before? Must lurk moar.
Okay, list.
1: FFVI
I adore this game. There are so many perfect characters. I loved how Terra found out what love was from the orphans in Mobilz instead of falling for Leo or Locke or Edgar or whoever (though I do love Terra/Locke and Terra/Edgar), it was a real breath of fresh air. And who can't love Edgar, with his purple bow in his hair and his double headed coin, and his special machine attacks, especially the goddamn CHAINSAW? This game also has some of the best lines ever (some of which were sadly missed out of the GBA version) such as 'Call me a treasure hunter or I'll rip your lungs out' from Locke, and Kefka's 'Son of a submariner!' and 'Wait, he says! Do I look like a waiter?'
2: FFVII
It may be uncool to like a game that has such a crazed fandom, and everyone knows is vastly overrated, but you know, it seems that everything popular has to be 'overrated' these days. Well screw that. I love it. I could go on about the beautiful music, the immersive storyline, the now terrible but back then A-MA-ZING graphics, Cloud's unicorn hair, how Barret looked like a bear wearing a marshmallow, Tifa's life affirming jumblies, that h0r Aerith, and 'this guy are sick'. But I won't. I don't think I really need to.
3: Phoenix Wright
The brilliant reaction animations from the sprites. The genuinely challenging trials. The groan-worthy puns on people's names. The really really stupid judge. And Edgeworth. EdgeworthEdgeworthEdgeworth.
4: Haunting Ground
I'm playing this at the moment, and it's kinda like Resident Evil: Nemesis with the whole nasty -enemy-stalking-you thing, but better. You have a dog called Hewie and some exploding magnesia for protection, and your protagonist gets more and more afraid the nearer an enemy gets, until eventually, if you can't escape or knock the enemy down she panics, and runs and stumbles and bangs into walls. But seriously, it's a creepy game. You don't have loads of enemies after you, just a character who you eventually have to confront in a boss battle. Unfortunately, once you kill them, another character cracks up and takes their place as the castle lunatic who won't leave you alone. Fortunately, you can hide under beds and in wardrobes until they go away.
5: Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection
Simply the best Tekken game there is. (Until Tekken 6 comes out, most likely.) A great stress reliever. Work bothering you? Kick someone's virtual ass. Plus, there are awesome female characters (Anna Williams, Ling Xiaoyu, Asuka Kazama), sexy menz to look at (Hwoarang, Jin Kazama, Hwoarang, Kazuya Mishima, HWOARANG) and customise items you can buy with your hard earned prize money.
6: .hack//INFECTION e.t.c
The .hack games are love. I just wish they'd hurry the hell up and release .hack G.U on PAL. Fer chrissake, it's been out for how long now in America? I like how you can choose between the original Japanese soundtrack or the English dub (the English VAs are fine by me) and how the people you speak to in the root towns actually speak like you'd expect them to if it were a real MMORPG. Plus, Mistral is awesomeness. And Balmung is brilliantly snarky towards Kite.
7: Project Zero/Fatal Frame
I seem to like survival horror games where you don't get a massive arsenal of weapons to kill nasties with the best. With Project Zero, all you get is a camera and healing items. Luckily, your camera happens to have exorcising powers and your enemies are ghosts. Jee-zuz, it's a scary game. The soundtrack is creepy enough, and couple this with ghosts like Broken Neck Woman, Blinded, Family Master (who went on a killing spree with a huge sword and still has it) Headless Priest (who lost his head due to the aforementioned Master's killing spree) and the unforgettable Shrine Maiden Kirie, and you've got yourself gaming gold right there.
8: Final Fantasy X
Tidus was annoying, but if you managed to get past that little blip, or at least accepted that he had some uses - his Jecht Shot was quite useful for making the Luca Butt-Designers (TM Videogame Recaps) goalkeeper cry - then it was an awesome game. The storyline was amazing, and there were some great characters in there. Lulu, the grouchy black mage. Yuna, the soft spoken Summoner who was ready to die to bring a Calm that would only last a few years. Auron, the awesome awesome awesome Legendary Guardian who somehow managed to put up with Tidus. Plus, I loved the sphere grid method of learning abilities. The only thing I didn't like about the game were the ridiculous things you had to do to get hold of the ultimate weapons. Get enough balloons to end up in negative seconds in Chocobo racing on the Calm Lands? Dodge 200 sodding lightning bolts on the Thunder Plains? I mean, yeah, I managed it, being an asshole completist and all, but GAWDS.
9: Resident Evil 4
The first thing me and my brother said upon playing this game was "When did Leon get so tough?" He was a big dork who banged on jail cell doors to be threatening and nearly fell over every time he fired his custom shotgun in RE2, but RE4 showcased a vastly improved Leon, with 100% extra manliness. I loved how much longer than the other Resi games this one was. I loved how they moved away from T-Virus infected zombies and onto crazy villagefolk with torches and pitchforks and chainsaws who had a penchant for trying to squash Leon with big boulders, or blow him up with dynamite. I loved Luis Sera, and Ada Wong, and Wesker (I've always loved Wesker), and Merchant. I loved Leon's little quips. 'Your right hand comes off?' In fact, the only thing I did NOT love was that damned jetski minigame right at the end.
10: Sonic the Hedgehog
The original, on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. The first game I ever played, so I'll always have a soft spot for it. There's never been a platformer that's come close to being as brilliant as Sonic was. The music was fantastic, the levels were colourful, fast and entertaining, the ending was short and sweet, and infinitely satisfying for a kid. No, it didn't have a deep plot. Yes, it was simple gameplay. But it was unforgettably great fun, and the villain will always be Dr. Robotnik to me, not his modern version 'Eggman'.
BulletProofMarshMellow - December 17, 2007 06:03 AM (GMT)
Wee! So fun.
1.Final Fantasy VI-
I love this game to pieces. Kefka was an amazingly evil/humorous villian, and the storyline was just in my eyes, flawless. The characters--- all of them had such different personalities, and I fell in love with each one at some point and time during the game. I even like Terra for awhile. >_>; Locke and Celes were my absolute favorite, and the opera scene and the phantom train were SUCH amazing parts of the game! The ending was so sad. -sniffle-
2.Final Fantasy XII-
Gosh. I love all of the characters (Excluding Ashe, cough cough). The story line is so different from all of the other Final Fantasies. I liked how there was no canon love for the main hero, and you could draw your own conclusions about which character liked whom. :] Well, Ashe obviously loved Rassler and everything, but that's it. ^^
*Hardcore LarsaxPenelo fan... that's why I refuse to play Revnant Wings, lol.*
3.Final Fantasy IV-
EGADS. I love this game so much it's unbelievable. Playing it never gets old, for me! The events in the game are so exciting and random, lol. Cecil, Kain, Edge, Rydia--- every single character is just so lovable! *huggles Edward*.
4.Resident Evil Code Veronica-
I can't get enough of this game. Alfred is the most awesome villian ever. He's got a creepily annoying laugh, an obsession for ants, AND to top it all off, he cross dresses, lmao! Steve may just be the best male character in the RE series. He definitely captured my heart. XD I loved the love story between himself and Claire! Claire is my favorite RE girl, so it was fun playing as her. The ending made me cry so damn much! AUUUGH! DXXX
5.Resident Evil 4-
Leon is sexy.
And I like killing Ashely.
6.Silent Hill 2-
PYRAMID HEAD! <33 I can't get enough of horror games. Silent Hill is so delightfulyl twisted. I just love getting creeped out!
7.DrakenGuard-
Best hack and slash game ever. I really loved that all of the characters were basically insane, and I loved all of the twisted alternate endings. This game is just CRAZY!
8. Kingdom Hearts Series-
I love all of the Kingdom Hearts games to death. Just so... creative and fresh, lol. I love Sora, Riku, Kairi--- everyone. :] It's so beautifully done.
9.Zelda Ocarina Of Time-
Ah, how I adore thee! Hehe. I love Link, I love Sheik (Who is a man xDD), and I have loved this game ever since I was like, nine, lol. It never gets old, and I love replaying it. Especially with friends!
10. Animal Crossing--
SUCH A CUTE GAME! My character is so cute. She has pink hair, and cute little eyelashes and a pink umbrella and a pink dress and.. and...
Wow. I am obsessed with this game.
I made my house so damn HUGE and PINK. I wish it were real. xD
Alantie - December 29, 2007 05:18 AM (GMT)
Because I'm a bit bored at the moment. ^_^
1. Final Fantasty VII
Yeah yeah, you all saw that one coming. But seriously, it is one of the most wicked cool games ever. So much depth, the plot is amazing, the characters believable, and overall, a simply unforgetable game.
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Despite its now sucky graphics (even though they were awesome for their time!) it has a beautiful, magical story done in the classic fairy tale style. So we all know the princess will be kidnapped and that the hero will triumph- but it still keeps you guessing the entire time!
3. Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2
Disney meets Final Fantasy in an incredibly neat mix. I simply love the orginality of it, and the twist on the stories we all know. Even though you know what's going to happen, you're still as deeply drawn into the world as you were the first time you heard it. The original characters rock, and the story is awesome. We can only hope they don't screw up a good thing with these future games. . . *shakes fist threateningly at SE*
4. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Much the same as OoT, a very classic tale, but still so beautiful. Enemies that you can really hate, characters you can love and connect with. Not to mention you get to go to another demension and turn into a wolf!
5. Okami
Though this game has never recieved the attention it deserves, it's truly a masterpiece. The graphics are unique and lovely, and using traditional Japanese mythology makes for a great game! The downsides are the annoying voices, though you learn to block them out after a time. :P
6.Mario Kart
Funfunfunfun. You can easily play this game for hours on end. The courses are fun, and the battles can become deadly bloodbaths! Plus it has all the original characters we love from Yoshi to Wario.
7. Dirge of Cerberus
A continuation of FFVII. Though some aspects are a bit wierd and the control system takes time getting used to, all my favorite characters (well, with one exception  ) return for a broadening on Vincent's tragic past. I love getting more of a story that was only touched briefly on in the original game. Plus I adore Shelke. :)
8.Pokemon Crystal Version
*dodges tomatoes* Don't hurt me! This is probably my fav Pokemon game ever since most of the games have completely gone to pot. . . It had interesting encounters with Team Rocket, the legendary Pokemon, yada yada. Anyway, yeah, this makes my list. :)
9. The old Sonic the Hedgehog games
I can't remember much about them, but I do recall how much fun I had playing them. ^_^
10. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons
Fun, if hard game for the Gameboy. The storyline is also much more in depth if you play the two games linked. Once again, Link is awesome, saving the day as always. The graphics are cute too. :D
TheMachine - December 29, 2007 04:20 PM (GMT)
1. FF7: Aerith... best game character ever. Enough said.
2. Chrono Trigger: Never would have become interested in square RPGs (or RPGs at all) if it weren't for Chrono Trigger, which a friend twisted my arm to convince me to play... I love the game. I still play it once a year or so... It had the most fun and interesting time travel plot I've ever seen in a video game, and the part when you finally reach the Kingdom of Zeal was just.. breathtaking.
3. Starcraft: My favorite PC game ever. Addicting and way too much fun, and it even had a good plot... which is generally rare on PC strategy games. The Gameplay was perfect, and I don't think I've ever played a more balanced strategy game. Plus, you could shoot off nuclear missiles.. how cool is that? Nothing beats suddenly surprising an enemy with "Nuclear Launch Detected" and watching them scramble around, panicking, trying to find out where it's going to hit.
4. Doom: This is the grandaddy of all shooters. Doom along with it's early predecessor Wolfenstein 3D practically invented the FPS genre. The game was way too much fun. I remember first getting the rocket launcher and smiling with glee as I turned monsters into piles of red, bubbling goo.
5. Donkey Kong Country: Excellent graphics for it's day... but there was just something else about it that made it my favorite platform game of all time. The gameplay was tons of fun, and the introduction of the ridable animals, weird baddies and cool music was just perfect. I still like to fire it up on ZSNES on occasion.
6. Quake 3: All time favorite shooter. I played this so much and became so good at it that I made the leader boards at a few cons. I even got to play the famous "Fatal1ty" a few times, though I couldn't beat him. My clan made it to the #2 slot. Gah.. I used to play this like 3-4 hours every day.
7. M.U.L.E.: I doubt anyone would have heard about this game.. it was was released on Commodore 64 and NES. It's a completely ruthless game of economic domination, which normally doesn't sound like much fun... but wow, nothing beat the feeling you get in this game when you completely screw your opponent over. A drought happens and food is rare? You have a stockpile of food and your opponent doesn't? (You need food to do anything). Ah, okay, lets charge him 1000x what the food is actually worth! Muhahaha!
8. Descent: A very strange game... combined elements of FPS and elements of flight sims/space sims. You fought in a small spacecraft, but all of the fighting was done within twisting mine shifts buried underneath the planetary surface. It was the first "true 3D" game, allowing complete 360 degree freedom of movement, and unlike flight sims you did not have to be flying forward.. i.e. you could hover or strafe in any direction. It allowed for some very bizarre and amusing gameplay.
9. FF12: It restored my faith in square-enix RPGs which had been lost due to FF8 (I know some of you might think I'm an ass for not liking FF8). I'm not finished with it yet though, so it's ranking on my list could change in the future. It seems so fresh and new, and the cut scenes are incredible. Gameplay is also very innovative, it's a nice modern take on RPG battles. Graphics are incredible when you factor in that it's a PS2 game... almost looks as good as some PS3 games.
10. FF6: I played this right after Chrono Trigger, and it's what eventually convinced me to play FF7. It's an epic game with an incredible story, and though it doesn't hold a candle to FF7... it still makes my top 10. Also, it's relatively simplistic gameplay made it a ton of fun even for (at the time) a novice RPG player. Celes, incidently, is one of the coolest women ever to grace an RPG.

oh i knew you where a starcraft fan by your aim name xealot 2
my fav too
you have excellent taste in games my friend
and you had the pleasure of playing against fatality ive played him in quake 4 i don't like him too much though kind of cocky our scores [DM -40-38 fatality] i blame lag i so want to go to wsg and play. don't have the funding though nor the time anymore.
Rikkulicious - December 29, 2007 09:27 PM (GMT)
Some of my favorite games in no particular order:
Tales of the Abyss
GREAT cast of characters, very funny and light-hearted then yet at the same time has its serious moments. I liked most of the voice acting too.
Shadow Hearts
Just got this game, and it does NOT disappoint! Awesomely dark, but doesn't seem to take itself too seriously. I find it very original. My only complaint would be that it might be too easy, not once did I need to level up.
Lunar Series
Pretty simple, cliche story, but it has such a great charm to it. The characters are awesome, and I adore teh couplez. I usually don't replay video games, but I find myself replaying this one many times. :D
Phoenix Wright
When you first hear of a game about lawyers, I know the immediate reaction is 'wtf, nawt playing dis'. But those who give Phoenix Wright a chance will be amazed by what a cool game this is. It's actually fun to find all the contradictions and meet the crazyass characters. Get. It. Nao. D:

I would have to agree about Fatal1ty, he's a cocky bastard. Once, just to piss off people in my clan, he attempted to "try out" for the clan under an alias, then of course he trounced most of my people and revealed his identity. But then again, the guy makes enough money playing games that he can afford to do it more or less 24/7. Anyone who plays that much better be damn good at it.
All the cons and tourneys I used to go to... lol... I almost never had the money, but had plenty of time. I'd find a way to do it anyway. Now I have the opposite problem, plenty of money but no time. Oh well. I probably suck now anyway ;p.

*raises hand* I love Warcraft... and not just WoW either.
