Title: I Need Prayers - Wildfires

Tacofoolio - October 22, 2007 02:30 PM (GMT)
We're having serious wildfires here in San Diego, and I'm very scared. I may have to evacuate today, and have no idea if our home will be safe. I'm packing my things right now, so if I'm gone for awhile, that will be why. I was outside for only a minute to get my luggage in case, and immediately had an asthma attack from the smoke in the air. I'll try to inform you all, but I may not be able to if I have to leave quickly.

Hades' Daughter - October 22, 2007 04:28 PM (GMT)
I would be terrified as well if I were in your shoes, Taco. *hugs*
I'm not from that part of the states, but I've heard a lot of horrifying stories about Cali and its wildfires. If any, what types of measures are they taking to help ensure the safety of the people there? I really hope you can find a good, safe spot to hide out at for a while. Will you be staying with family? ^_^

Let us know how things go.
I'm wishing you guys the best of luck and pray that nothing bad happens.

Tacofoolio - October 22, 2007 04:44 PM (GMT)
There are a lot of evacuations happening currently, and many schools are being used for evacuation centers right now. I'm not sure if we'd have people to stay with, perhaps friends of my husband's parents. My family lives in Oregon, so not of much help. My husband's at work right now, so if we evacuate, I'm not sure if I'd have to wait for him to get me or if his parents will. Right now everyone's calling each other like crazy, so it's difficult to know. I'm just glued to the news waiting to find out anything for this area. I'll do my best to let everyone know if I have to leave, hopefully the power doesn't go out.

Kaldea - October 22, 2007 05:51 PM (GMT)
That sounds horrible. :( I've had an experience like that in Canada once but it was no where near as bad as this one sounds. I'm in Vegas so I'm pretty far away from that area. I really hope things get better for everyone there soon! I don't know how I would deal with that myself. :( You're very brave! You have everyone's support! :huggle:

Tacofoolio - October 22, 2007 06:27 PM (GMT)
Still here so far, and keep packing things. I think I'm both calmer and more afraid now, and just incredibly sad. It's incredibly bizarre for me to have to truly decide what I want to keep, and every time I think I'm ok, I'll realize I need to take the pictures from their frames just in case. So far I'm not in immediate trouble, and I'll hope it's under control before it gets closer. Even so, it's so sad to see houses burning on the news and smoke in the air. Not to mention hearing about people who had to leave their pets. :(

aerithlove527 - October 22, 2007 06:58 PM (GMT)
(*praying wholeheartedly)
sorry to hear that, Taco. I've never experienced evacuation but that must be very horrible. I hope everything's gonna be fine, and you'll able to back home soon. Take care of yourself and all members here will be waiting to hear your good news.
...(*so worry)

Lynn - October 22, 2007 07:14 PM (GMT)
Oh man, that... just really sucks. I'll be hoping for the best for you, Taco. And everyone being affected by this too. Keep us updated as much as you can, ya?

Anti-R - October 22, 2007 09:13 PM (GMT)
We never had forest fires here. I can only watch those kinds of things on TV.

It's distressing to know you and your family in that kind of situation. I hope you'd be alright.

I'll be praying. Very hard.

Oddishness - October 22, 2007 11:07 PM (GMT)
Oh Taco, I'm so sorry!

I hope that everything works out for the better, with any luck you'll be able to stay. :( I'm sorry that you have to go through this, I live in the desert (in California as well) and I know how scary it can be. :huggle:

You'll be in my prayers~

p.s. I grew up in San Diego, and I sure hope it doesn't burn too badly, I loved it there.

Heavens Cloud - October 23, 2007 01:48 AM (GMT)
I'm sorry, Taco. :( You have my prayers as well. I hope the wildfires calm down soon.

::CloudSmiles:: - October 23, 2007 02:57 AM (GMT)
That's horrible, Taco, I'm sorry. You know, I'm in Montana, and we got over our fire season recently. We get many horrible fires here every year, and this year was no exception. I swear, people everywhere were evacuating and it seemed like the state was just going to burn to a crisp. I can understand what you're feeling.

Please keep us updated Taco, and you'll be in my prayers too, of course. Just keep staying calm and I know you'll pull through.

Tacofoolio - October 23, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
Things were ok yesterday, been awake most of the night. Things have gotten worse though and the fire is starting to head our way. Still uncertain if we will evacuate, but the chance is high again. Still very scared and tired, still very smoky as well. I'll update later if I can.

aerithlove527 - October 23, 2007 06:58 PM (GMT)
(*cross fingers in deep prayers)

Gawds I read news today and came to know the current condition there....it's really scary, but I' glad to hear you're just fine now. Taco, plz do take care and update as long as you're permitted. I won't stop praying till I got your good news. (*big huggy)

Tacofoolio - October 24, 2007 04:59 AM (GMT)
Things still are bad, and we're keeping a close eye on things. We're right between two fires currently, and one is heading our way, the Harris fire. The other one is the Witch fire, which is currently the highest priority of all the fires. Still praying, and with the winds it's very stressful. We're all pretty tired because of watching the news all night and day, but prepared at least. We'll just have to see what happens.

Oddishness - October 24, 2007 05:33 AM (GMT)
:huggle:

On a similar note, my best friend goes to Art Institute San Diego, and they've all been evacuated and classes were cancelled. :(

I hope everything works out....

Key - October 24, 2007 07:05 AM (GMT)
I'll keep you in my thoughts that everything will be all right. Hopefully the firefighters can get these crazy fires under control, and the wind lets up.

Keep us posted too, ya?

Tifa Lockheart - October 24, 2007 09:55 AM (GMT)
I've seen what happened on CNN and the Today Show. My prayers are going to the people in California, don't worry. :gift:

I hope everything will be fine.

aerislives - October 24, 2007 03:42 PM (GMT)

Princess E. - October 24, 2007 06:13 PM (GMT)
Be strong Tacofoolio!! :(

Please keep us updated!!

You have my prayers!! I hope that everything goes well! :huggle:

Amathala - October 25, 2007 01:50 AM (GMT)
I'm praying for everyone in California as well. I also hope that you don't have another asthma attack when you go outside, that is scary too. If you do have to evacuate, I also pray you don't lose the place you call home, but your good health is what matters the most. Come back to us safely.

KeKe - October 25, 2007 03:20 AM (GMT)
You're in my prayers. Our valley is starting to fill with smoke, and its all from the San Diego fire. I can't imagine what you must be going through.

People here, also pray for the firefighters. We lost five of them in the last wildfire and I'm praying to God that doesn't happen again. I personally know two firefighters and I'm worried.

May God protect you, Taco! :huggle:

Mine is too!! It's so so smoky out, it's horrible.

Taco Taco Taco, I hope you're okay.

Coral - October 25, 2007 12:51 PM (GMT)
I hope you're okay too...be careful please... :(

Wildfires make me think about the hurricane Katrina...it's so difficult to control that people have the same need to be evacuated...

I hope you're fine, take care of yourself and people you love...everything will be fine :huggle:

illwaitforever1 - October 25, 2007 12:59 PM (GMT)
Your in my prayers too Taco, and the people in San Diego and California. This must be horrible.

I hope you, and the people you love will be okay.

marcus_v3 - October 26, 2007 08:48 AM (GMT)
My prayers are with you... :gift: Stay safe and keep praying!

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - October 26, 2007 10:45 PM (GMT)
My thoughts are with you, Taco. The wildfires made me think of bushfires during summer and especially in the middle of a drought.

I hope everything is okay.

~Fury Brand~ - October 26, 2007 11:31 PM (GMT)
Pray beams coming in here from Scotland! :huggle:

I saw footage on the news of what was happening and I feel so much for everybody and everything. It must be so horrible to have everything you've ever known destroyed and to have to leave it and perhaps pets too behind to that :(

As Amathala said though people's health and indeed their lives are most important - please come back to us safe!

Remember too that there will be people to help you in your hour of need if it comes - I saw rescue centers being set up on the television and lots of people all pitching in to help one another - things like that are inspiring so try to use that as your strength if you can :huggle:

*prays*

i pRomiSe** - October 27, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
Oh goodness, Taco, please tell us you're ok and come back ok! ): I saw the wildfires on the news, and I realized that these are the ones that you're talking about. ): They really are horrible, and I hope they die down soon. I pray for everyone out there. Please come back safe. <3!

Tacofoolio - October 27, 2007 04:47 PM (GMT)
Thank you all so much. :huggle: I'm safe, and incredibly lucky, I'm certain the prayers helped. I ended up having a bit of a breakdown at some point, but now I'm feeling calm. It's still awful knowing that we're safe only because others lost their things instead, but still sadly relieving. I still have to avoid going outside as much as possible, and wear a mask when I do, but it could have been much worse, so I'm grateful. I'm exhausted now though, so I'm trying to catch up on lost sleep, but wanted to let you all know I'm safe, and hopefully all of my husband's family is, I know one of his aunts might have had her house go down, so we're praying for her still.

::CloudSmiles:: - October 27, 2007 10:11 PM (GMT)
It's great to know that you're safe, Taco! :huggle: Thanks for keeping us updated, I was wondering what was going on over there. Focus on recuperating from the ordeal, it sounds exhausting.

Heavens Cloud - October 28, 2007 01:07 AM (GMT)
Glad to hear that you're safe, Taco! :)

Sadhana - October 28, 2007 06:36 PM (GMT)
Oh, thank goodness! I suppose it's a good thing I didn't know about this topic until after you clarified that you made it okay or I would've been worried sick. I hope everyone's doing okay, and I'm sure that although the rebuilding process will be long and difficult, it'll all be alright eventually.

Anti-R - October 29, 2007 09:13 PM (GMT)
I saw the aftermath in CNN. It's horrible.

Regardless, I'm so happy you're alright. And I hope your friends, neighbors and family are fine.
