Title: 5 Things That Are So Wrong In This Earth
Description: i was bored...so sue me
marcus_v3 - October 10, 2007 01:30 PM (GMT)
since im really bored today  i just wanted to whine about the 5 things that absolutely piss me off!!!
#5 PS3 being WAAYYYY too expensive!
i was planning to get a part time job and just save up for it but after my cousin told me its tag price i was lyk: "WTF ya serious!!!!" it was so frickin expensive so i guess i have to wait until i get a real job after i graduate before i can afford it.
#4 RACIAL DISCRIMINATION!!
being a guy who was born in a third world country, some people tend to treat us like were inferior to them!!! (ex: Jon Stewart making fun of our former Pres. Cory Aquino and calling her a prostitute, that "desperate housewives" episode that made fun of our nurses and other medical proffesionals, and jay Leno calling us cowards for bringing our troops home from Iraq w/c happened a few years back) its really sad how some people think that just because they belong to a certain race, they're already superior to other people and make fun of them
#3 Kobe still not winning an mvp!!!
in a country were basketball is our religion, the mere fact that the greatest player in the world TODAY!!! (greatest ever? Hmmm... probably not there yet :ermm: ) has yet to win an mvp is not only OUTRAGEOUS!!! its a :X travesty!!! (just in case you're wonderin, im also a big KOBE FAN)
#2 Manny Pacquiao not holding a world title!!!!
the greatest Filipino boxer and arguebly the best pound4pound fighter in the world and he doesn't even have a world title!!! WHATS UP WITH THAT!!!!!
#1 SE STILL NOT PUBLICLY DECLARING THAT CLERIS IS CANON!!!!!
SE knows it, WE know it, and im pretty sure that DA CLOTIZ know it!!!! CLERIS IS CANON :cleris: but SE wont publicly say it. THATS JUST SICK AND WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS!!!!!

I'll come up with my own top 5 list later (I'm off to class soon and don't have a ton of time), but I just wanted to address this, specifically the bolded part.
Jon Stewart is by no means a racist. That really wouldn't make any sense since he blatantly mocks them all the time. If he made fun of your president, it wasn't because he's racist; it's because he's the host of a comedy show that constantly satirizes the news, the political sphere, and ESPECIALLY politicians. He makes fun of everyone, including himself. He makes fun of Bush all the time. Does that mean he's racist against whites? He has made fun of Kerry, and he voted for him at the same time. The purpose of his show is to make crass and immature jokes, that's it.
Yes, he occasionally does make serious criticisms of politicians through such callous jokes, but he never criticizes on the basis of race. It's always based on their performance and actions. Honestly, I don't know much about Cory Aquino, but even if Jon Stewart was making an honest criticism (though I doubt he was; to me it sounds like he was saying something totally sarcastic), he would've been criticising her behavior as a politician and not her race.

like a friend of mine said, "we all see things differently"(actually he said that in our native lang. :ermm: ) if thats how you see it then i totally respect your opinion :P
It's just that some Filipino's (about 30-40% i think, w/c includes me) took what he said a bit differently... don't get us wrong though. We Filipino's (especially me  ) are a happy go lucky bunch. And were not that sensitive too since we basically harass (we boys atleast do <_< ) our friends with jokes to such an extent that some people think were actually fighting. We make use of the PI word (w/c is = to your F word). and when were playing basketball, dota, cs and other games we trash talkk like theres no tomorrow.
But it's just that... the way he said it, i kinda felt a bit different about that. and im not the only one who was kinda turned off. IT was actually publicized in newspapers around here and some of us did kinda felt offended. and also, i think we kinda lost it with that "desperate housewives" comment (and personally im actually striving to be a RN myself) and then john stewart followed 2 days after sooo it was kinda like addin wood to the fireplace you know what i mean
Anyway like i said, i respect your opinion and if thats the way you see it then i have absolutely no problem with that. :ok:

Ah, so that was Jon Stewart who made that comment. :o I was listening to the news a couple of nights ago and I wasn't able to catch on who said what to whom.

It is quite depressing. I'm actually annoyed that this issue tends to create a big media hype so they're earning more money because of the controversy.
For my list:
1. Corruption -- a guy I know once made a speech with the premise "we cannot fix a corrupt government if we ourselves are corrupt." Apparently he's the related of a corrupt politician. It's totally a Rufus Shinra moment but I can't help but wonder how people who get into power can get corrupted by it. It's one of the biggest problems of the Philippine government and I hate the fact that some politicians deny that it's a reality staring at them in the face.
2. The torpe boys ---in my local language, "torpe" is a term used to describe a boy who is terribly shy to court a girl or to express his feelings to a girl. I've been victimized by one.
3. Hollywood -- have you guys tried watching entertainment gossip shows like E!, E! News, The Daily 10, or The Insider? These celebrities are really "good role models" to society. Like, they're subtly telling us that if you want attention, all you need to do is to become anorexic, get arrested for DUI, try cocaine, release a clothing or a perfume line, attack the paparazzi, shave your head bald, get pregnant out of wedlock, or kill yourself.
4. Too many Emo bands -- lately a lot of emo bands are sprouting out everywhere like mushrooms. Whiny vocals and dark poetic angst-filled lyrics can be too much especially when it's ruling the airwaves of the rock radio station. It even became a way of life for some. Sometimes people even confuse them with Goth and punk. But I gotta admit, there are some emo bands that are good... although too much a good thing can be bad.
(hey, no offense to those who love emo bands here or those who belong in one. I admit I like a few emo bands too like My Chemical Romance, Breaking Benjamin and 30 Seconds To Mars. I even have friends who belong to emo bands in the local music scene)
5. The rabid CLOTI. --- Self explanatory. I don't need to elaborate here anymore on why I think they're one of the most dysfunctional things here on earth.

so u dont like shy guys!!! hehehe. My friend's one and it was an absolute LAUGH FEST :lmao: . The funny thing was the girl actually liked him  and we tried to get him to confess but he'd always freeze up when she was like 2 feet from her :brr: also every time we teased him about it he'd start going all wacko on us and say (and i quote...) " :X GAGO KAU AHHH!!!! DOTA N LNG ANO!!!! PUSTAHAN PA MGA DUWAG!!!" (roughly translated: :X you A-holes!!!! LET'S JUZ PLAY DOTA!!!
AND WILL MAKE IT INTO A BET YOU COWARDS!!!)
MistaCloudStrife - October 11, 2007 09:40 AM (GMT)
Filipino's take alot of pride in who they are. ^_~ And the older ones don't understand modern jokes, especially political jokes, so you can expect them to find it funny. Just the way they are. My parents were offended too, but I sat them down and explained it all to them after searching about what the big deal was.
I'll post my 5 thingies later too... 2:40am. Should be getting to sleep.

Shy guys are cute and I find them adorable but too much shyness is annoying. I liked torpe boy and he wouldn't say anything back to me until his silence totally killed everything. Haha. Very long story. :P But I waited for him for 2 years.
And speaking of racism, well, this isn't really racist but more on gender discrimination. Another thing I find wrong in this earth is.....
In the Philippines, there's is gender discrimination among drivers. If you're a female driver, the male drivers look down on you. It annoys me to the point that I drive tinted cars so no one can see me. Sometimes, when male drivers see that you're a female here, they'll tailgate you and honk their horns to alarm or surprise you. >_<
Another thing wrong in this earth:
Prom queen-quality girls hogging the rock stars.
This is based on observation on being present in the local music scene. And to make things worse, those "prom queens" (think super pretty faces with super fair skin and pretty skanky outfits) only want the to be dated by the rock stars because of fame. I hate it when I see a lot of them backstage flirting with the performers and rubbing their bodies against them.
Not enough band t-shirts for girls
All the band shirts I see being sold in stores are designed to fit the boys. The girl sizes have mediocre designs. Like once I was looking for Nirvana, Incubus and Tool shirts but I got presented with an Avril shirt. And the only Incubus shirt they had was a plain printed shirt with the name INCUBUS.

:o! My friend and I were complaining about that earlier as well!! XD So that's why my friend always wears larger t-shirts--she just buys the guy ones anyway. No way resisting their sickass designs. I don't know WHY they can't make the same design on a shirt for girls... -_-
I'll come up with my own list later, but I just wanted to comment on how true and interesting everyone's posts are! And yeah, the comments on the Philippines really annoyed my family when we saw the Desperate Housewives episode. :/

Yes, yes, yes! Why do guys always get the nicer prints? I hate some of the girls' shirts because the prints are too girly.

Yes. I was hoping to have my own PSP and PS3 but I know my mom will kill me if I tell her that I want both.
PS3, because I want to play FF versus XIII and if ever SE releases the remake of FFVII, I would be able to play it.
PSP, because of Crisis Core, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and Bleach: Heat for the Soul 4 and also because its portable. :D
So now ladies and gentlemen, I'm stuck. I don't know which one to buy.=/
Sky Strife - November 14, 2007 07:55 AM (GMT)
You aren't the only one with this situation in the Philippines. Sure, the PS3 is wayyyy expensive, but it lowers in time due to lowering of popularity.
Third-World Country is something I'm quite familiar with. Texting capital of the world, yeah. If all the money earned by Globe and Smart in a single day were given to charity, I expect that there will be no poor people, more education, and most of all, possible promotion to a Second-World Country.
I can't really relate to the entire topic of Kobe not being an MVP, because I don't like basketball that much.
Yeah, why isn't Manny the champion of the world yet? Answer: Floyd Mayweather. This guy is tough. If Manny got hit with a direct hit in the face by the one-hit KO, what do you think will happen? Not only will he go unconscious, but he'll go into a coma.
Yeah, and why can't Clorith be canon yet?
Things have to change here. Most of the teachers here in Pisay are quite liberal: I cannot mention them because I'll probably get kicked out of Pisay. Things have to change. We cannot just remain at zero (or negative).

No I didn't mean you were old, but you probably didn't see the original broadcast of the actual show.

=P Because girls get everything else. I hate going into a store and seeing 20 times more Roxy stuff than Quiksilver.
In fact that will be my first choice for something wrong with the earth. I want to go into a store and see an equal amount of Roxy and Quiksilver stuff.
Gas prices are going way too high. I remember when it was less than a dollar for a gallon and now it's almost 4 dollars per gallon. That's way too much money.
Square Enix not releasing any of the really nice FF merchandise outside Japan. They force everyone to pay even more money for shipping fees and paying the middle man for getting it for me. I want to see the FFVII potion cans in 7 Eleven! O.O And for a limited time they'll have a banner out covering the 7 Eleven sign as "VII-Eleven" Oooooh... I should be a marketing strategist. Hah. j/k
And I really can't come up with anything else... might post my last two later as I think about it. =)

1) Materialism and Consumerism - Who cares about iPods, cellphones, Wiis, and Playstation 3's? What someone has doesn't make them who they are. Plus why are we so obsessed with shopping!?! Save your money, people! Don't waste it on video games you don't absolutely want or pointless technology or such! Save it for when you REALLY need it!
2) Emo and Faux-Punk - Ha ha ha ha ha! So feeding gigantic corporations like Hot Topic and the music industry is leading a revolution, huh? What the heck! Can you all be THAT stupid? Or are you just lame teens rebelling against "mumsy and dadsy"? For the love of ...
3) "1337" and Chat Speak - Fully type your fecking words, world. Is it so hard to use grammar, punctuation, and proper spelling?
That's all for now.
Tifa Lockheart - November 15, 2007 11:12 AM (GMT)
*nod, nod* I cannot help but agree with Neko Dono.

Hell yeah! I hate it that iPods and cellphones are becoming status symbols. The older your model is, the poorer you are? Oh for crying out loud. There are rich people who like to use older models. Those who buy newer ones seem like the most insecure about their riches since they keep flashing them around.

Honestly, I hate these people. <_< And they call Emo a musical genre?
As for the Manny Pacquiao thing, I don't really like him because every single Filipino is glorifying him. It sickens me. It's becoming overrated. His face is literally everywhere! :puke:

Well at least we (that includes me :P ) don't have to worry about getting our cp's stolen every time we go to DIVISORIA. Back in my HS days my 3310 was stolen by someone (dis was back in the good old days when a 3310 actually meant something). I didn't even notice that my phone was gone <_<.

I've never been to Divisoria although I was advised by my friends that if ever I'm going to go there, I should really dress up like I'm from the slums. :o
Oh yes. Even coffee is a status symbol. In this side of the planet where I'm living in, Starbucks, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, UCC, Seattle's Best, and others are other status symbols. It's actually annoying that I get judged wrongly just because I go to those places to hang out. The more expensive your coffee is, the richer you are. Ridiculous, huh?

Well it is kinda ridiculous but then again...
As for me... a good ol packet of nescafe 3 in 1 does the trick and helps me stay awake for a steady 3 hours. Very useful especially when our duties are scheduled at around 5-6am  and is really far away.

4) GameFAQs Non-sense - The collective IQ of that forum is around...12. No one has a bloody brain there. It is infested with Halo retards, 13 year olds, and fan boys/girls who no nothing beyond their own gaming realm. And the FF games are among the worst for it. People who think that the FF series "pwnz all"... AUGH! Have you ever played anything other than an FF game or a bloody Anime RPG!?! Here's an idea: Expand Your Repertoire.
5) Jerks on XBox Live - Although it has improved a lot from the days of Halo 1 and 2, there is still a lot of pointless insults being thrown around. 25 year old drunks, 13 and 12 year olds that think that screaming into the mic makes them cool, neanderthal teen guys who think humping someone's face (which apparently means crouching over them) is oh-so funny, and little dorks who think they are "teh 1337 H4axorZ" and want everyone to know it!

I don't have that problem in my country. ^_^ For example Nightwish-shop (which sells other Finnish bands' stuff, too) has many and very pretty band shirts for girls, too, even tops. :)

Many seem to think that I'm rich or very wealthy (mostly because my father has a bigger car than others, but that's just because he sells those kind of cars and trailer lorries) and I have a simple and old mobile and I've never even touched an mp3-player.

Ah...the world just got better because you mentioned Nightwish!
Personally, I think it's tough to pick just 5 things wrong with the world because there seems to be so many things I complain about these days. I think the most important one though is the lack of respect shown in today's civilization. Things such as bullying, attacks on innocent people walking the street, etc, just aren't right and it seems to be an increasing problem, when really this shouldn't be happening at all. People have lost respect for their fellow man, in my opinion, and it's a real shame. It makes the world an uncomfortable place to live.
Sky Strife - November 20, 2007 10:44 AM (GMT)
Well, the world's getting worse for me. I'm a thirteen year old, and the :X they give us in school is just crap.
Projects due next week are killing me. No, us.
Periodical test is next next week.
In short, PSHS is killing me. No, killing us. I don't even feel my Christmas spirit, which should have come last September (start of ber season).

Apparently, yes. We all have a lot of things to complain about these days. It makes me wonder if people from a hundred or more years ago had the same amount of complaints about their world when life seemed simpler back then (although maybe in their POV, it was already hard).

PSHS, as in Philippine Science High School? It's standard operating procedure. Too much mental torture on the students these days.
It's just high school. You'll have more things to whine about when you reach college. Everyone has gone through high school and have experienced the stress that you are experiencing as of this moment. One day you'll look back and laugh and realize that the things you did in high school are just chicken feed. :giggle:
