Title: Favourite Engrish Phrases
Description: In anime/j-pop/video games etc.

Yeah, most of us here have probably heard them a few times before. Those god-awful engrish phrases that are interjected into a japanese song or speech even though the grammar's totally wrong and the meaning's totally off. It's an honest attempt to interject some (apparantly trendy) english but it's just so off it's funny :P

So I wanted to ask you guys, while watching anime or playing video games or listening to music, what are the worst Engrish phrases you've come across. Some examples:

Gundam Seed Destiny ep 46: There's a note that reads: "Help! I'm going to killed, Ms. Lacus!" (she meant I'm going to be killed)

Kaleido Star Opening 2: "Yes, growin' up. Oh yeah! Yes, time for jump! Oh yeah!"

I guess it's not so bad but still makes me smile :)

Scry-ed Ending: "I believe in drastic my soul!!!"

I'm not kidding. And he yells it all passionately too XD

Any other takers?

By the way, just to preempt any dissent this topic might cause, this isn't me trying to be insensitive. It's the equivalent of me writing a song in English, and putting in a phrase in Spanish because I think it sounds cool, even though the grammar and meaning is totally and completely wrong. In that case, I would almost except people who can read and write Spanish to laugh their asses off. It's all in good fun really.

LOL I've heard that one a thousand times before but I'd love to know the story behind it. I mean, was it just a break down in translation or was that the original phrase in the japanese version? Wth XD

Slayers and all the other anime from the 90's and older decades are veterans for Engrish phrases. Even their songs.
One song from Slayers said, "Keep on running, running, running on, and fighting, fighting, fighting road." *scratches head*

In Final Fantasy 7, the pick-up truck that Tifa and Aerith rode said "Midgal" instead of Midgar. It never fails to make me stare and wonder who among the Shinra staff the hell wrote it.

And this one is not anime or game related but it came from one of the Japanese nori biscuits that I love to eat. It said. "Has vitamin nutrient mineral for modern men." So it's safe for me to assume that if I fed it to primitive men, it's not suitable for them... or since I'm a girl, I can't eat it! Haha. Oh well.

O.O I feel retarded.. I totally forgot Initial D!

The eurobeat music from the first stage had some pretty addictive music, but almost none of them really made any sense if you were to actually pay attention to the lyrics and not the races.

For example... Spaceboy.

Here's the song on youtube. The song is used as AMV material.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=0G8lwLlrSYo

And here are the lyrics.

Every night you light me with your gasoline
Everytime I feel delight when you recall my name

So you can be my shining star tonite
I'm not alone with all your love
Fly across the sky you will be mine
I can feel your dream with you BABE

Gonna get you like a space boy!
Wowowowo
I'm ready Babe
Gonna get you I'm your space boy
Dive into your heart baby
Gonna get you like a space boy!
Wowowowow
I need you babe
Gonna get you like a space boy
Take a chance with me baby

Every night you drive me crazy like you know
Everyday I scream so loud you'll always be my queen

So you can be my shining star tonite
I'm not alone with all your love
Fly across the sky you will be mine
I can feel your dream with you BABE

Gonna get you like a space boy!
Wowowowo
I'm ready Babe
Gonna get you I'm your space boy
Dive into your heart baby
Gonna get you like a space boy!
Wowowowow
I need you babe
Gonna get you like a space boy
Take a chance with me baby Gonna get you space boy

Gonna get you I'm a space boy!

Gonna get you like a space boy
Wowowowo
I need you babe
Gonna get you
I'm a space boy
Take a chance with me baby

I pray to God your soul is gone.

From the anime Gravitation. The funny part is that its written in a tombstone of the main character's dead lover. I loled. Repeatedly.

I wanna be thank you!

From one of the Prince of Tennis Musicals backstage things. The guy who said it was like, "Like we need proper english!" I stared at the screen and had to replay it so many times. I was like, "I'MA KEEL YOUUUUUUU!!!! *fires comes out of mouth*"

This thread seriously has me laughing out loud!!

Examples:

Gundam Wing Second Op: "I just feel Rhythm Emotion!" which is bad itself, except it's also pronounced so badly it sounds like "I just feelesu muremotion!" It's a kick ass song though.

Oh and how could I have forgotten the DBZ example? The opening song is called Cha La Head Cha La which means nothing. They're literally just random 'words' thrown together and forced into the chorus. Then, out of nowhere, at the end of the chorus the singer randomly screams 'SPARKING!' Hilarity.

DUDE! This line is referenced in the PSP Final Fantasy Tactics! I laughed so hard!

The entire opening of Persona 3. >.< Like the song, singer has Engrish problems (Burn My Dread sounds like Burn Madrid).
