The music playing in the background of Aer-chan's flash was cute. They changed her ribbon too, it's no longer a pink ribbon but a light blue hair tie, it seems.

I wonder if there's a reference for Aerith's status as a Cetra. Zack calls her an angel - which are beings from Heaven, the skies (like JENOVA "The Calamity that came from the Skies"); Aerith negates that, and says her name (Aerith/Earisu), which sounds like Earth (land/part of the Planet, or the Planet itself). Maybe I'm reading too much into this. :P

I also saw Sephiroth's video. I think it can be understood why he was admired so much. His fame was not baseless; he seemed to be a good bloke before the Nibelheim incident. He did have an air of loneliness, and, it seemed to me, he also had sad eyes.

Cloud's video showed his relationship with Zack. Cloud seemed to respect Zack; Zack seemed to see Cloud as a little brother, and they seemed to be quite close.

I am having high expectations for this game, honestly.

I noticed the ribbon problem in the vid too, but I have no trouble enjoying her pertty look without that pinky one, maybe Nomura just thought the original ribbon does not fit her new dress anyw, or he wanna emphasize Aerith's pinky outlook at the later scene. :ermm:

Umm... The ribbon shouldn't matter. I dunno why anyone would freak out over such a little change. How many people wear something that they never change for as long as they live? Especially as a hair tie.

I honestly wished they changed her style a bit. Maybe even give her a dark and light contrasting theme, or even pants. AND I WISH HER HAIR WASN'T TIED UP. D:

Er, young Cloud is adorable, but I like emo adult Cloud way better. Maybe it's just me but it's kind of difficult for me to imagine a friendly, cheerful Cloud who smiled freely as CC seems to portray. Even in the original game I never saw young Cloud as the cheerful type. To me, he seemed to be the troubled child who probably didn't talk or smile very often. I really can't imagine the other children in town thinking so oddly of this Cloud. O.o

Most likely, Cloud behaved that way only around Zack.

I honestly never saw Aeris' ribbon as a classic detail that always has to be there. I think it's nicer to see that she chose it as she grew older. And wasn't her ribbon in BC red anyways?

And about Aeris' hair, I actually like how it was only let down during her death scene. I thought the symbolism of that was really beautiful. But having said that, it'd definitely be nice to see more of a variation on the classic braid - a ponytail, how she wore it at Don Corneo's, or only wearing it partially up but not completely loose... Something different would be nice, and I'd expect it of a younger Aeris.

I agree, but he's also been shown having a couple of depressed moments in this game, hasn't he? And I like to think that a big part of his more positive attitude here is down to Zack's good influence. He's Cloud's first friend after all, and that has to be a major confidence boost so it's natural that he'd show more of his real personality at this stage. ^_^

I hope so...otherwise, I'll be sad. :(

I can't recall.
Most of what we've seen are his interactions with Zack. If Clerith-son is right then maybe that's why Cloud isn't what I had thought he would be like. *shrugs*

These are only some moments. None of this involves how Cloud is personally, it's how he is in public. Many people are completely different in public and with friends. :mellow:

I dunno. Sure, Cloud has his moments, but I thought he was always more...awkward with words and people, even around familiar people like family and friends.

Just saying that based on what I've seen so far, Cloud isn't really like what I'd imagined him to be. Aerith, on the other hand, I feel like I'm completely familiar with.

A young girl who Zack meets while on a mission in Wutai. Because Wutai and Shinra at war with each other, she challenges Zack to a battle.

A girl living in Nibelheim, and Cloud's childhood friend. She acts as a guide to the Nibel mako reactor when Zack and Sephiroth come to investigate.

I'm finally taking a look at this. *kicks classes*

From the small pic of Yuffie, I adore her new outfit! It looks like something right outta Suikoden II, it's awesome! (For SuikoII fans, I'm thinking of Riou's red top specifically. :D)

As for the videos:

Aerith: Love it! I'm not bothered by the removal of the pink ribbon-- she's got the blue ones on her dress, but more importantly, it makes me feel like the red ribbon of destiny ties only Cloud and Aerith together. :giggle: And I LOVE that flirty, sweet smile she's going into just as the video stops ANDIDON'TKNOWWHY. <3

Cloud: SO. MUCH. SQUEE! :wub: I just wanna hug this boy, argh! And the way Zack watches him run off? Clack all the way, baby!

If nothing else, I like watching this side since it rounds off Cloud's character, because we've been getting nothing BUT his emo side recently.

Anyway, I don't think SE's making him out to be extremely comfortable socially in this game. There's still that shy quietness to him. We don't see him interacting freely with anyone else (especially not in a group). He only stands out because we know him and because Zack knows him. CC!Cloud strikes me as being just as soft-spoken (even wallpaper-material) as I imagined him to be as a child-- and for such an effiminate boy growing up in a mountain village, that's enough to make him the target of any bullying.

But then I imagined Cloud as a rather normal child, albeit with some problems because of his missing dad (and the fact that he lives in a town of asshole adults). It felt like the tragedy of Hojo's experiments were that they retarded his emotional growth for five years (perhaps just as he was beginning to develop some confidence from his friendship with Zack) and crushed that kind spirit within him, and it's only facing the past (and meeting Aerith :P) that drew out the real Cloud from within.

...Oh, and we can't forget Zack's super socialising powers. :giggle:

Haha, I absolutely love the beginning of Aerith's video. The way she talked--it was too cute! x) The whole entire thing was adorable actually. "Tenshi?" I've noticed the change in Aerith's ribbon too, but I don't think it's much of a big deal unless there's some special meaning behind it. ^^; But yes, it does look somewhat funny and inconsistent that the ribbon appears in the same scene's images of her. Wonder if they're gonna change her CG CC pic? (I hope not, though!)

Cloud's video---eeeeeee!! That was incredibly love. I squeed inside so much like whoa. Like Lynn, I just wanna hug him till he cries. (Clack is igniting!)

Cloud was never good at social skills but, that doesn't mean he didn't want any friends. Zack walked into his life; Cloud made his first, and (quite possibly) best friend he'll ever have. Obviously, he was a bit happy.

We cannot compare CC's Cloud with FFVII's Cloud, since FFVII's has experienced much more, and lost many things.

In my opinion, CC's Cloud is a Cloud with hope, FFVII's Cloud, is an indifferent Cloud who only wanted revenge (at the beginning, once he realised that Sephiroth was back), AC's Cloud was a hopeless one, but regained some hope at the end.

I'm not saying he didn't want any friends. What I'm saying is that I thought his social skills were always a bit more awkward with people...and so far, I'm not really feeling that with CC Cloud.

I guess I had imagined young Cloud being awkward around people too, an awkwardness he always had rather than an awkwardness that was caused by experiencing tragic events.

I agree, in VII during the Lifestream incident we saw young Cloud was very much eager to be apart of Tifa's gang. Even though he started to feel a hatred for them in jealously he told Tifa that even through that he still wanted to play with them. People can also act different around their friends or bring out more personality in them, I think that since Zack was probably Cloud's best friend and considering Zack's cheerful act that he opened Cloud up a bit more. However when Zack was killed, in VII you saw that Cloud was extremely saddened in the flashback and this along with other things turned into into the cold hearted being at the beginning of the game.

Argh! I cannot say how much I loved Aerith's video. Maaya's acting just makes me squeee because of how she is able to portray Aerith. One thing about the ribbon, I wonder where she keeps the Holy Materia now?

As Kuki said, and also remember the "I wanted to be noticed" line; that's Ko-Cloud for you (Ko = child). Remember, Cloud is not meant to be a one dimensional character; the way he behaves in FFVII and AC has its reasons.

Also, we did see a bit of a cheerful Cloud in VII, around Aerith. I'd say that would show that around cheerful and kind people, he can be a bit social. Hey, he even was in a good mood at the beginning with Tifa (when she was not emo). Needless to say, it'd be difficult to see a social Cloud around people like Barret and Co.; Yuffie was far too cheerful for Cloud, though, methinks. XD

And about Cloud's behaviour, now that I've seen a translated version of that cutscence, he seems more enthusiastic about doing his job well than "social". Before Zack recognises him, Cloud seems like he's trying to act professional (he still looks up to Sephiroth very much at this point) and then it looks like Zack's friendliness encourages him to relax a bit, and it gives him a boost too. He seems very eager to please and keen to impress, which I think is very IC for him at this point in his life.

But now, onto more important issues: Am I the only one who can't get enough of a sane Sephiroth? :D

I just fear that he won't be presented like SE could (and should)...With so many other characters around making things complicated and taking away from what we know. Why not concentrate on what troubled him, what he felt, what exactly made him believe what he came to believe in FFVII? Why do they bring Genesis into the picture and whatever it is, that is going on in CC?

I certainly wouldn't have needed that. But I love sane Sephiroth.

Sane Sephiroth has so much potential to be sexy, I'm probably looking forward to him more than Zack! :lol: So far it feels like SE has really brought out that lonesome, dignified aura of his that we only got a glimpse of in Nibelheim (before it was lost in a haze of insanity and Cloud-obsession), and It Is Good. Just comparing the clipped, steady voice he has in CC to the manic drawl in AC makes me all tingly. XD

Sternenstaub: About Genesis and Sephiroth: I have no clue what their relationship is, but perhaps Genesis will be used as a way to explain Sephiroth's character, troubles etc. I suspect he'll plant, if nothing else, the doubt in Seph's mind about the true nature of SOLDIER.

Short hair is actually good. You don't need to maintain it so much and removes the inconvenience of having hair in your face when running and jumping.

I dunno how Tifa manages though, considering how long her hair is... but then again she sports a miniskirt while somersaulting and lifts WEAPONs over her shoulder, so I guess she's simply immune to physics.

I love sane Sephiroth aswell, its good to see a normal side to him and that he isn't doing Rule no. 3 in the Villian's Rule Book "Always gloat about your evil plan to your enemies". I personally hope that he will be developed well because there was always so much potential in her sane persona, I've always thought that he would of been just a normal guy if Shinra didn't screw him up.
