I love it.. O.O I'm getting it for sure.
I want that FFVII 10th anniversary PSP. T_T
NekoDono - August 27, 2007 05:27 AM (GMT)
That trailer was great! Aerith hearing Cloud's blood curdling scream was such a good ending. Although that song really sucked.
Kaldea - August 27, 2007 06:41 AM (GMT)
The FMV scenes look amazing as usual when it comes to Square. The only part I was excited about was near the end when it showed Cloud and the blood on his face when Zack dies. Ugh, I wanna see that scene in updated graphics so bad. <333333
The song is not my style at all. I wouldn't say it sucks though.
Pyra Kurai Akaidra - August 27, 2007 10:46 AM (GMT)
Such...an awesome trailer...
What really gets me is seeing Cloud smiling while talking to Zack in ShinRa, then him confiding in his friend about his feelings, all the way to him giving that heart-clenching scream just after seeing that scene with Zack and a feather. Clack or best friends, it shows the importance of Zack's prescences in his life to me. :cloud:
Otherwise, I grin when Reno and Rude appears; drools a little over the FMVs (unsurprisingly, coming from SE) and the song...
"Why" is a good song, but it didn't give me enough impact.
aerithlove527 - August 27, 2007 11:43 AM (GMT)
:hyper: Waauwooooo!! CC's new trailer's awesome!!(*Burst*)
I like Zack's "Huh??" in the very beginning~~puppy cuuuute!
And wow~Genesis is strangely handsome in this vid! wander whakinduf relationship between him and Sephyroth..
If I didn't hear it wrong, Zack's conversation with Aerith is about Aerith's praising his eyes, right? and Zack's last call with her is about to go meeting her..(she says "Um! I'll be waiting." ) Zack's being protraited as a reaaally tragic hero in CC...(*shake head)
Sephy stabbed Cloud at the shoulder.. i somehow know that scene in LO, bit that's still pretty brutal to me(OMG, Sephy's got monstrous physical strength..)
Cloud's last scream breaks my heart~~
btw I don't hate that song, actually this vid makes it not that terrible to me~
Our beautiful Aerith's face! kinda awaring something's wrong happened to Z...
Lynn - August 27, 2007 02:32 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the link, TS! :huggle:
Wow, the scream is--- *shivers*
...
*replays it over and over* Cloud has a lovely scream, yesh. Ohoh! Cloud's EXPRESSION! :cray: I hope to all the freaking gods out there that somebody rips that part from the actual game and puts it online!
I agree that while the song isn't bad, it just doesn't stand out. Maybe it's because of all that dialogue going on?
Hmm, Angeal and Genesis still aren't doing it for me. The three-way battle comes on and I actually find myself rooting for Sephy, and I'm not even a fan anymore! Though I could be the only one still LMAO-ing at the image of three people with wings on one side. :lmao:

Which part is that? I could've sworn he stabbed Cloud through the stomach in the trailer (...just like he did Aerith. Huh. Sephy, you have a cruel sense of humour).

*demands SE for more Aerith*
I squeed when she said "Hitomi". Brought back memories of Escaflowne... ^^
...and is it just the Cleris in me, or did it look like she felt Cloud's cry? :P
Looks very interesting overall. It's too bad I don't have plans on buying a PSP.
Thanks for the link, TS.

Oh my goodness...that scream... *has the chills*
Somehow, it gave me a major fangasm and the shivers at the same time. Such a powerful moment.
I've been half-anticipating this game and half-dreading it. On the one hand, I'd love to see more Aeris, more Zack, a sane Sephiroth, some Turks goodness, more on Zack and Cloud's friendship, some cute ZackxAeris, and Cloud as a regular Shinra grunt, but the army of overhyped original characters just seem to be getting in the way of what I really want to see...oh, well. I guess I'll just have to try and ignore them. -_-
But I LOVED the ending. It gives me such high hopes for this game. The look on Cloud's face, the blood, that scream. And the cut to Aeris' face! Haunting. God, it'd be worth putting up with all the Gary Stus original characters just to see that scene in updated graphics.
QUOTE (Hades' Daughter)
...and is it just the Cleris in me, or did it look like she felt Cloud's cry?
You're not alone - that scene/moment just screamed of Cleris to me, rather than being a "Oh no, something's happened to Zack!" moment. Because it's the moment of Cloud's breakdown when we see her face, and not the moment of Zack's death, I definitely interpret it as more of an attempt to connect Cloud and Aeris rather than Aeris and Zack. And it just seemed like such a horrible (and I mean that in a good way) foreshadowing of Aeris' death to show her face as Cloud screams...
Oh, that moment really got to me.

Go, Sephy, go!
I don't feel anything for the new characters in CC, not even mild interest. I hope they don't forget the really interesting things...
I loved how they cut back to Aeris face, too. Aside from clerisness or whatever it was just nice to bring this three people back together at that moment - even though Aeris did not even think Zack was actually dead in FFVII, so her feeling Clouds scream about Zacks dead would be kinda off if you think about it.
I like it anyway.
Thanks for the capture aerithlove527. Is it me or is Aeris back to FFVII style clothes in this picture?
Yukari - August 27, 2007 08:30 PM (GMT)
I think Ayaka's voice is gorgeous, and the album of hers I have in iTunes is amazing, but I don't think the song really fits the video.
Cloud is so friggin' adorable in that video. And Aerith! How anyone can say she's not utterly beautiful after viewing that trailer is beyond me. Like everyone else, the ending of the video really sent shivers down my spine. I wonder what Zack said to Cloud right at the end when the feather fell?
The only thing that I'm kind of afraid of is retconning. Please don't go crazy changing stuff, Square, like the producers of Last Order did.
YamiNoAeris - August 27, 2007 09:26 PM (GMT)
The trailer really was incredibly good..!
Japanese voice actors are really very good at their job- they put their emotions into it and, like the scream that Cloud lets out- you can feel the sorrow/ pain.
I am confident now of my theory that Aeris would have known when Zack died. I mentioned it in a previous post in this section in reference to what she says about Zack in Gongaga in FF7.
Aeris wouldn't have heard Clouds scream as he was miles from Midgar. But the planet must have let her know he had gone. Afterall, when she was younger she had been able to tell Elmyra when her husband had died.
I think she is also able to hear the planet even easier from her church- where at the end, you see her in her FF7 outfit~!
I love how this showed Zack and Clouds relationship and it'll be interesting to see how their relationship developes through-out it~! It's so sadenning to see a heart broken Cloud at the end..
Can't wait to play it!!!!!!!!!!!! :woot:

Seconded - the first clip we see of Cloud in this trailer just melts me. He's so wide-eyed and eager-looking, and it breaks my heart to see him like that and know what's going to happen next.
And Aeris in her FFVII garb in FMV is just so beautiful! :fangirl:

I'm worried about needless rectons too. The game was better than fine the way it was, SE, so please don't change more details! I have a feeling that the Nibelheim incident will play out the way it did in LO (which means Sephiroth's probably going to jump again... <_<), but hopefully everything else will remain untouched. *crosses fingers*
And the fact that Gackt/Genesis is still around is making me twitch and cry, so I've learned to just seperate the original FFVII universe from the compilation FFVII universe in my head. Makes everything much less painful.

I don't think anyone here meant to suggest that Aeris could actually hear Cloud scream, just that she sensed his anguish, and that something terrible had happened.

In FF7 in gongaga, didn't Aerith say she had assumed he'd found someone else?
I can't remember if she had thought he was dead, but I kinda think remember her saying she'd assumed he had found someone else. Hmmm...
EDIT: Whoops, forgot to talk about the trailer....
For some reason, "Why" doesn't do it for me... It's nice and all, but it doesn't really seem fit the mood of the game IMO. Great, I get to see my favorite characters in awesome graphics, but this means I gotta go buy a PSP now. But whatever, I'm still all for it. I wasn't expecting the Clerith connection at the end, but still if the game has any more, that'll make my day.
AugoraTheMateria - August 27, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
When Cloud screamed, I felt like this is the end. Like when your favorite show or anime/manga series is over and you feel a kind of feeling that you can't describe and you're disappointed that it's over. That's what I felt. This is the last game in the compilation (well, it should be but who know if SE will make another one).
Man, I really want this game... But first, I want to buy a PSP... Jeez... I don't have that kind of money.

Ah~ Well, I had thought that is the idea people had as NekoDono had said "Aerith hearing Cloud's blood curdling scream was such a good ending." So I pressumed. :P
I think it is a little wrong to say that she sensed Clouds anguish though? I mean, they hadn't met before and perhaps Zack only mentioned him a few times- therefore being nothing to tie them together on that level yet? This is why I suggested it is that they both react at the same time- to Zacks death. It does still initially tie the three together and this is where Cloud and Aeris seperately say goodbye to Zack and not too long after actually meet eachother in the streets of Midgar.

Ah, oops. Well, I still think what was meant (even by NekoDono) was sensed rather than literally heard, because Cloud would have to be a pretty loud screamer for her to hear him in the Sector Five slums.

Oh, I agree with you that this moment ties the three of them together very nicely. It's just that I think the implied indirect connection is still between Cloud and Aeris here (the primary connection is between Cloud and Zack, obviously). I'm not trying to suggest that she recognised that it was his suffering she sensed in an "Omg, Cloud's in trouble!" kind of way, just that that it's being made to seem as though she senses his scream on some level. It symbolically represents the connection between the two. Cloud takes it all in for a moment and just as he lets this incredible scream go, Aeris' head rears up sharply. It's his scream we see her responding to and because we as an audience already know how Cloud and Aeris are connected (or will connect later), it's okay to show that level of weird closeness. ^_^

*Agrees* Based on the trailer, it is Cloud's scream that Aerith responds to. We didn't see her responding when Zack took his last breath. Of course, it could all be different in the game. But, in this trailer at least, Aerith's head snaps up, eyes wide, at Cloud's heart-wrenching shriek. The implied connection is that of Cloud and Aerith.
Lynn - August 28, 2007 05:18 AM (GMT)
I find it hard to see any Cloud-Aerith relationship in that last scene, since this is just a trailer (they could be two separate scenes edited together for this purpose). I think it's just showing the two most important people in Zack's life reacting to his death. I doubt SE will show the main part (Zack's actual shooting/death) in a trailer, so I wouldn't give that last scene much credit just because Cloud's reaction is followed by Aerith's.

From her expression, it seems like SE has canonised Aerith knowing Zack died (or at the very LEAST, she has reason to suspect it). But didn't she seem surprised when he appeared in the Lifestream in MOTP? If that's the case, I have a feeling SE either forgot about that little info or they're sacrificing canon in favour of a more dramatic death sequence.

Yeah, though of course some players suspected that she was simply in denial/making excuses instead of acknowledging his death.
[EDIT] I just have to say, it would be hilarious if someone new picked up this game, played it till the end, then goes, "WTF? HE DIES?!!!" :lmao:

Thanks for posting many interesting comments, guys!! ^_^
And no problem for the link. (o;
I agree that the trailer was pretty hardcore, though the ending completely broke a little part of me inside. I just can't get over Cloud's scream right now after watching the video again. Aw. :( But at the same time, it's another factor that makes me so drawn to the game. Insightful, emotional, truthful (<--just hopefully they don't contradict anything from beautiful FFVII; LO was like... whoa?).
Zack's story seems pretty tragic; CC might only depress me after all. However, I'm really interested in seeing more about Cloud and Zack's friendship. I like how they showed how 'tight' they were when they were talking, heheh; it's cute how they trust each other well. But still, Cloud's scream... poor, poor Cloud... They were like brothas from other mothas. MAN THAT'S SAD.

Yes, I also agree that the moment nicely ties Cloud, Zack & Aerith together too. ^_^ But to be honest, I don't really think Aerith's reaction was in response to Cloud--I just thought she felt/sensed something terrible had happened to Zack/in general (Cloud and Aerith haven't met each other yet either). It makes sense to include the reactions of two people that were very close to Zack, right? I do think that they are somehow portrayed "connected" in some way, though, or at least to hint something for the future (I don't know, I'm just inferring right now.). It seems that the little clip of Aerith's head snapping up was added in-between Cloud's scream -also- for that purpose... Could be that, or just to show Cloud and Aerith in regard to Zack's death.
{EDIT: Lynn said it all for me, again!! Haha, YOU ARE SLICK! <3}
The game seems worthy enough for me to finally purchase a PSP, even though I've wanted it for so long already. :P The theme song was nice imho, but I wouldn't say it was the best song to choose for the game. After hearing it, I just know it's gonna be a very depressing ending. On a side note, the CGI graphics from S-E--as always--blow my mind!! And, wow, does Aerith look as beautiful as ever... ^-^ <3 *dorkeh* Finally we see her whole entire face clearly rather than just her profile. I hope Mena Suvari *teeny weeny grudge rises after remembering her KH2 performance* delivers her character nicely here for the English version (there will be one, right?), 'cause now S-E shows us her young, playful, cute, living self in more light. Aerith still had those same fresh qualities in AC too, but sadly she didn't have as many lines as the other characters of course. ^^;

Well...you're right(and Lynn, TS..too) having a second thought of it and considering MotP again, I now think it's Cloud's cry that she awares. If it's Zack's, the timing would not be correct. In Motp, Cloud's cry for her death is what reaches her first and astonishes her.. :cleris: But that doesn't mean she onlyhas that connection with Cloud(not to say she didn't even know him at that moment). IMO, she couldn't aware ppl's sudden death but she can sense their grief/wail.
I forget who mentioned this question before but I'm pretty sure that Zack's saying"Cloud, I have to go to Midgar" during the feather-falling scene.( I read a little Japanese  ) So that'll become another unfulfilled promise...

Aerith looks gorgeous *^_^*
I think people are looking into things too much. To me it is simple. Aerith and Cloud are connected by soul. Why shouldn't she sense him? The entire compilation of FFVII shows that they are connected on so much more than a material level. In spirituality people are able to sense others even from a great distance away even if they do not know each other yet. To me Aerith looking up then - is sensing a soul that will become an important person to her :gift:

YamiNoAeris - August 28, 2007 03:37 PM (GMT)
I don't mean to look into this so much- but it's just confusing how people can have opinions on the ending at a level where you can connect Cloud and Aeris directly together. I do think they have a connection at this point but through Zack rather than together.
I am a huge fan of Cloud and Aeris- always have been since playing the game since it came out- but I think some opinions are a little bit bias?
I understand that Cloud and Aeris have a spiritual bond- but surely that would be after they had met? Afterall, you can't have a spiritual bond with someone you do not yet know?
Cloud and Aeris' relationship in CC is practically non-existant. They do not meet eachother, and do not talk to eachother (to our current knowledge anyway.) When they meet on the streets of Midgar in FF7 they don't recognise eachother at all. Therefore there is no bond, and no feelings towards one another. However, when Cloud falls into the church is when they are both able to start their connection and at this point start to form their spiritual connection.
I loved the ending of the trailer of CC- but as previously said by Lynn and True Serenity- the trailer could very well be of two completely different scenes. Afterall, Aeris would most likely have sensed when Zack had been killed and joined the planet whereas, you can see in FF7 it takes Cloud a while to recover and shuffle his way over to Zacks body before screaming out. Afterall, the Shinra troops had long left by the time Cloud had made his way over to Zack. The troops had even left Cloud for dead because of the state he was in.
So indeed it was most likely at two different times.

I believe this is because the events of FF7 take place shortly after~ :)

I find it hard to see any Cloud-Aerith relationship in that last scene, since this is just a trailer (they could be two separate scenes edited together for this purpose).
Not saying it's going to be like that in the actual game, but just in the trailer, it did seem as if her reaction was to Cloud's cry since that's what the focus was on before the scene cut to her face. I know Cloud and Aerith haven't met yet, but like HB said, it's possible that it's foretelling the bond they'll eventually have. Of course, that's just the Cleris in me speaking. Like you all said though, whoever or whatever Aerith was reacting to, this scene appears to link these three characters together.
I still have to believe that Aerith did not know Zack had passed away. She was genuinely sad when she learned about his death. Perhaps she had sensed something was wrong but never pin-pointed it to Zack. Or maybe Lynn is right. Just maybe SE overlooked the idea that Aerith wasn't supposed to know Zack had died because they're just too focused on a dramatic conclusion. :P

I am a huge fan of Cloud and Aeris- always have been since playing the game since it came out- but I think some opinions are a little bit bias?
I don't think that's very fair. As of right now, none of us have played the game. We're simply talking about possibilities. Since, in the original game, Aerith didn't know Zack had passed away until she found out in Gongaga, what we're saying about her sensing Cloud's pain rather than Zack's death is a possibility.
QUOTE
but surely that would be after they had met? Afterall, you can't have a spiritual bond with someone you do not yet know?
Cloud and Aeris' relationship in CC is practically non-existant. They do not meet eachother, and do not talk to eachother (to our current knowledge anyway.) When they meet on the streets of Midgar in FF7 they don't recognise eachother at all. Therefore there is no bond, and no feelings towards one another. |
As HB said, with stories, it's not unusual for authors to add elements in that will foretell events to come(Cait Sith's predictions, for example). I don't see why she has to know Cloud in order to have felt the strong, strong pain that must have been emanating from him. I personally feel that if feelings or if something is strong enough, Aerith would probably sense it. After all, she was able to sense that Elmyra's husband had passed away even though she has never met him before. Also, if one happens to believe in things like destiny, then one can argue that perhaps SE is showing that this connection between Cloud and Aerith already exists though they haven't met yet. Again, we're talking about possibilities to a game none of us have actually seen or played...so in that sense, I think it's a tad bit unfair to be pointing fingers at people. Aren't we all, at the very least, a bit biased in some form or other? :P

I acknowledge and accept that possibility...but again, we won't know until we've played the game, therefore, I really don't see the point in beating something like this to death. I suppose I shouldn't have made that little Cleris remark in the first place.
MistaCloudStrife - August 28, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
About the whole Aeris and Cloud scream thing. I think she just might have been able to actually literally hear him. He's on the outskirts of midgar and from the looks of it, she was at the church.(saw a flower =P) In FFVII the church is right next to one of the entrances of midgar, so echoes of Cloud's scream could be heard if the church was right there.
Mmm..
And again. I can't wait for this game. We also get to see a non-angsty Cloud. Saw how Cloud smiled so easily after Zack just said, "Yoroshiku"? Love it.

Beautiful trailer. The ending had me in tears, I listened to it over and over and over again. I normally find all the FF7 retconing a bit annoying but I am very interesting in getting this game, though I know I never will. But I mean come on, fmvs will be up on youtube within a week of its release so.
And I don't think Aeris' looking up was because she 'heard' Cloud or something. Keep in mind, they very well could have edited it for this trailer. As well, I think it's more likely that she sensed Zack's death in a very subtle way (like a disturbance in the force- er - lifestream) though maybe not enough to fully realize that Zack was dead (since she seemed shocked when she learned about his death in FF7). She probably had just kind of a weird, gut feeling that something bad had happened.
But poor Cloud. Sakurai-sama why is it that you play all my favourite bishounen? I wanna lick your voice XD
Anti-R - August 28, 2007 11:25 PM (GMT)
I agree. Kind of like Obi-Wan sensing a planet blowing up. He couldn't pinpoint where its from. I can see that with Aerith.
Still that doesn't explain why she sees Elmyra's husband early in life, but not Zack, who was dear to her at the time. The only theory I can put up is that Aerith denied her Cetra heritage too long she unwittingly dulled her senses. Or maybe because she's half-Cetra (though that didn't stop her when she summoned Holy and traveling the Lifestream).
Anyways, I'll see how CC goes...

Ok, I don't mean to be turning this into an arguement or anything- I do apologise if people have taken it the wrong way or anything. But it's a little disheartening when I voice my opinion and quite a few people go entirely against it rather than considering it.
I didn't mean for my opinions to seem 'demanding' or 'arguementative' I'm only trying to discuss it and break it down by giving examples. I guess it's hard to show the way it is being said without any tone- the only problem with writing I suppose. :P
Aeris using the force~~
Anyway, away from this- because it's getting out of hand and I don't think it's going anywhere.. XP
I really am curious as to what happened with the phased Angeal and his dead mother. Surely Angeal wouldn't have killed her? If he did- why? It seems Angeal took it in a simillar way to Sephiroth when he believed he was a monster. Perhaps Angeal just snaps.. o,o Or perhaps it's not him at all, perhaps Shinra did it? And Angeal was there in a sort of shock?
I'd like to believe it is the latter due to Angeals look on his face- it doesn't look as though he would've done it- more that he failed to prevent it..
I'm very happy with Zacks impression on others as a 'little puppy'. Because he is still young and still learning under Angeal- not yet a mercenary dog. He has simplistic looks to him and is quite naive during the first part. Then during the second half- once he changes- he is matured, responsible and strong. It's lovely to be able to see more into Zacks personality.

I'm sorry it's left you with a sour taste, but as you noted in an earlier post, TS and I actually agree with you. Though, IMO, it doesn't really matter who supports whom--in a discussion, you're bound to find people disagreeing with you. But I doubt anyone's approaching it as a full-on debate, moreso as fleshing out initial ideas.
Let's both sides not take it too seriously. :gift:

"Gut feeling" is good. It's just enough to show a connection between Aerith and Zack, yet vague enough to fit into the game & MOTP.

*takes out speculation glasses* Perhaps she didn't want to believe he had died, and so subconsciously blocked any chance of Zack's ghost visiting her?
But yeah, the lack of anything subplotty/deeper between Aerith and Zack in the game is amusing. He really is a past flame to her, and it's only in CC where we see them really acting as a couple in love.

I loved how understanding Aerith was. "No, you don't have to." Okay, so maybe that's actually quite a normal reaction, especially when your boyfriend's an up and coming 1st Class SOLDIER.
But it just so completely kills the idea that Aerith is some whiny little girl who demands attention.

If Aerith had been able to connect this bad "gut feeling" with Zack...don't you guys think she'd try her hardest to find out what happened to him when he didn't come back rather than just saying to herself that perhaps he'd found someone else? To me, not a lot of this seems to quite fit together... @.@

Well shoving CC aside for a moment, Aeris and Zacks relationship didn't even make sense in FFVII. The fact remains that Aeris should have known he was dead - I don't think she could delude herself so much. She tried to hide her powers early on but she never feared them to the point of ignoring them. And she certainly isn't the type to repress things happening to her. I think SE just forget about that like this little error when Aeris said, she knew Tseng since they were kids, despite him being an adult in the flashback of her youth.
Not a good explanation but it just doesn't make sense. Aeris was so shocked when she heard in Gongaga that Zack was missing..if the thought should have ever crossed her mind or if she had ever felt something that could mean he was dead, she would have realized it then and there.
I DO think she was in denial but not about Zacks dead but rather their relationship. Well, a theory of mine is that Aeris suspected Zack of leaving her - because he was known to be a ladies man. So when he didn't come back, she immediately thought he found someone else.
She said in FFVII they weren't close but her reaction everytime Zack is mentioned seems like she is really hurt. So, in my opinion she feels like a fool for having fallen for someone who would leave her that easily and tries not to let to much emotion into it (eg. "We weren't serious.") despite feeling a lot for him.
Zack on the other hand really wasn't serious (that's what I think, at least). When he was with Cloud in the truck he said something about "a place to crash for a while" followed by "But the mother lives there too, guess that's out." Doesn't sound like the return to someone you love and missed dearly, doesn't it?
The way things look in CC SE is going to make a dramatic and romantic love story (which will make the game more emotional, no doubt) but I don't think that is how it was meant to be in FFVII.
And here we are back to the old Zack&Aeris relationship discussion - sorry.

+ Nomura tried to order the white PSP edition but failed. + There will be 300 missions of varying difficulty. + There will be a New Game+ type playthrough after the first. + There will be a suprise for Cloud fans. + Zack will receive email on his phone from others. Probably called the PHS. + Aerith won't send Zack email because she doesn't have a PHS-phone. + 20+ hours of gameplay until the Nibelheim incident. ( No word if this is the end of the game or before the time skip. ) + In the middle of the game, there is a large event scene during battle. + The battle difficulty is more casual, but some missions are extremely difficult. + They recommend that extremely difficult missions be tried on the second playthrough. + Lazard will have a larger role than Tseng. + Shisune is called Cissnei. + Cissnei is 16 years old, and the youngest member ever to join the Turks. + Cissnei may be from Wutai. + The ending is really good, according to Square-Enix. + They re-made the ending 20 TIMES and chose the best one.
