FB wrote a fanfic o_o Been the first since what ... when I did a random piece on Kadaj and Aerith for a member here

Anyway it's for the contest. Everyone was having so much fun that FB decided to get off her lazy butt and join in :P

Title - Death
Themes - Cloud angst. Death and Life.

Cloud survived the bleak and barren landscape around him. So reminiscent of his state of mind. Bleak. Barren. The sword and flowers before him a blatant reminder of what he’d lost. Zack. Aerith. The two most important people in his life. Gone. All gone now. Gone.

He surveyed the sword.

“I promised that I’d try to live life for your sake”

Yet it was hard. Oh so hard. Without them. Especially Aerith. How could he live a life for Zack if he had nobody to live it with? The future now seemed dead to him. The landscape seemed to be mocking him. Reminding him. Bleak. Barren. Dead.

He studied the flowers. They too were fading. No longer fresh, their vibrant yellow colour was becoming dull. Death. Dying. A stab of pain shot through Cloud’s heart. The dying flowers now yet another reminder of Aerith’s death.

He had to get away from this place. It hurt so much to think of Aerith. To remember her. Yet it hurt not to remember as well. She deserved to be remembered. Sometimes he thought maybe if he remembered hard enough it would almost seem as if she was still alive. Yet he couldn’t do it. Couldn’t go all the way. Just couldn’t. It hurt too much. That’ he’d failed to save her. How could he possibly face her after that?

“ I let her die”

She’s dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Everything around him echoing his thoughts. The land, the sky, the flowers. Dead. Dead. Dead.

Unable to stand it he leapt onto his bike and started driving away. He drove mindlessly, heedlessly. No destination in mind. Just away. Away.

Behind him as yet unnoticeable to the surface dwellers new lives were stirring. Under the earth tiny roots sprouting from the seeds dropped by the flowers Cloud had left.

Further down. The life stream. Aerith. Her will power guiding water from deep within the earth towards the surface to nourish the newly sprouted seeds.

Remember Cloud. In Death there is Life.

Please review! :huggle:

Also comment on what you think of the ending. I was going to end it at "Just away. Away" but I thought the entire fic might have been too depressing that way
