Title: Tifa's Ring
Description: In AC she's wearing a ring...

FrogPeach09 - August 15, 2007 01:36 PM (GMT)
Ok! So, I kinda freaked when I saw this (and wanted to point it out and see what you all think). So, in AC a few times you get this shot of Tifa's right hand.... and she has some major rocks in that ring.... and I'm like

I just don't know what to think! I mean, did they get engaged (they were perhaps living/working together. His phone calls were recieved at the bar)? But in the photo he's standing way off to the side of everyone else looking very displeased... and I'm thinking 'there is no way they're together'. He looks so serene when he sees Aeris but so unhappy when he's near Tifa.... I'm not saying he doesn't care for Tifa ('cause I think he does)... but I'm wondering if the boy ( :cloud: ) isn't trying to move on from Aeris with Tifa but can't!

I'm just wondering what the heck is up with that ring (and that went you STOP the DVD there is a image of Tifa and Cloud there)... I need some help, guys! Cleanse my doubting soul!!!!

Love,

A newbie :cleris: fangirl...

Barret and Denzel wear the same ring. ^_^ Unless Cloud is a bisexual paedophile polygamist, it's not an engagement ring.

We already have many threads on this topic, actually. You should browse around a bit first.

Anyhow, the ring isn't an engagement ring. Tifa, Barret, and Cloud all have the ring, what Yukari said. It was stated by SE that Cloud gave his to Denzel (who's wearing it around his neck), hence, why you don't see Cloud wearing one in AC.

...er, I've never heard of that before. You mean there was an image of Cloud and Tifa engraved on the ring itself? O.o

Is there any way you might be able to provide a screen shot?

I think Froggie is talking about the background pictures, maybe of the DVD menu? The ring Tifa wears is a plain band, certainly nothing engraved on it that I saw.

And yeah, the ring's neither an engagement nor wedding ring (unless Cloud is so clueless he bought his bride a ring that looks exactly the same as the one Barret has...). Note also that Tifa's surname is still "Lockhart", not "Strife".

LOL! How did I miss that? I guess I just saw that they had been using the bar together (with Tifa's business and Clouds delivery service), and perhaps taking care of the orphans together (except he's been advoiding them) and wondered 'could they REALLY have been staying together in the past? And a ring could have been solid evidence. Thanks for clearing that up!

aerith blossoms, read through this thread and you'll see we've explained that the ring has no romantic connotations as far as we're concerned.

Not unless you believe Barret wears a ring also as a sign of his undying love for Cloud.

Like everyone's said before, everyone (As in Tifa, Barret, Cloud, Marlene and Denzel) has the ring. Maybe symbolic, a friendship ring or a symbol of being a family or something. But whatever that ring is, it can't mean Cloud LOVE LOVES Tifa, cause we all know he loves Aeris... Unless he's bi.

Marlene doesn't have the ring.
It's just Tifa, Barret, and Cloud(who then gave his to Denzel). The only real reason I can think of why Cloud would give his to Denzel is because the boy sees him as his hero. It sort of ties the two of them in that sense. Besides, Cloud doesn't need a wolf ring. He has the wolf practically stamped on his shoulder for the world to see.

This is just my opinion, but I think the size of the wolf symbol and the location of it on Cloud are both very symbolical. To me, his sin is much heavier than both Tifa's and Barret's. While Tifa's and Barret's sins are light enough for them to carry "with their hands", Cloud is using his shoulder to carry his because it's just that much heavier on him. It's pretty easy to see this when his two other companions are moving on just fine with life despite their sins while Cloud is clearly struggling.

Anyhow, I'm pretty sure those rings are all WOLF rings. It's easier to understand that Tifa's ring does not represent "undying love" when you realize this fact. Think about what the wolf means in Cloud's case. Does that wolf not symbolize sin/guilt? Also, CoT already explained that Tifa, Barret, and Cloud each carried a sin. Therefore, I think it's pretty unlikely that the rings themselves are symbolic of family/close friends. The three wear it because it signifies that they each carry a sin, and in that sense, well, I suppose one could say that they're all tied together.

WOW! very nice analysis <3 Doesn't Squall have a ring that he gives to Rinoa? What symbol was that?

Anyway, back on topic, i think your right about the rings representing their sins. And Cloud's sins are greater than anyone else's. But i never thought about how they are placed and such, i've never actually seen Barret's ring in AC D:

Love this thought too much.. How strange, I wonder why poeple never cliam that wearing pink ribbon means Luuurve? So the problem is who's wearing sth symbolic, not how many poeple are wearing it, no? If that's their theoretical base, then I won't be suprised at maniac fandom like "Tifa's wearing black apron and so does Cloud!ZOMG JUST MARRIED!"...
