I know, I know this is such a ridiculous topic, but do you think perhaps Cloud liked Aeris because she was younger than Tifa and exceptionally more beautiful? *....I wish this was true but I'd like to hear other peoples opinions too! :) I mean, Tifa is pretty too but in my opinion Aeris is #1, you know :angel:

Actually, Tifa was 20 years old in FFVII while Aerith was 22 years old. Cloud's age preference was never shown, but his mother did say an "older girl" would suit him most... and as they say, mother knows best. :razz:

As for beauty? Another unknown with Cloud. Though IIRC, there is an option, when the group arrive in Costa del Sol, where you can choose Cloud to say he likes tanned/pale women (I forget which). Kinda a mute point, since it's up to player preference.

But in the idealised world of fiction, I feel looks become a non-factor for love interests (the leading characters are almost always good-looking, anyway). It's usually about personality, fate, all that.

yup Aerith is 1 year older than Cloud much to his mothers preference and from what i can see to Cloud's preference to so no i dont think Cloud liked younger women and yeah everyone knows Aerith is absolutely gorgeous but its not only that its all her whole personality and all shes got the whole package

Hhm, I think one year doesn't make much of a difference, doesn't it. I mean, usually for people to say "I like older women" the have to like women that are at least 8 years older than they are, so that the age difference does affect the status they have, the behaviour they show, the points in life they are going through and so on on a significant level. One year age difference just doesn't really fall into account, in my opinion.

When Cloud's mom said he should have an older girlfriend she probably meant a "motherly" grilfriend (quote:) "to take care of him" not just someone being a year or a month or a just a day older than him but someone having much more experience in live, someone who has already passed the stages he was going through then. I think she just suggested it, so that Cloud would have someone watching over him like a mother should, because she was worried about him and he wouldn't let her watch over him like that.

I dunno, I always cringe in pain, when I hear the argument, that his mom said he should have an older girlfriend would qualify for Aeris. Remember he said, he was "not interested" in reply to this and Aeris really doesn't fit the image described above (neither does Tifa).

Now here's something for you guys to chew on. Did anybody else realize that Tifa is a bartender, but is actually a year under the legal drinking age? Yeah. Mull that one over. :lmao:

According to my Japanese teacher, the legal drinking age is about 20-21 in Japan since he partake it unknowingly around when he's 18-19.

I always think that those whole Cloud-mom conversation is kind of hidden/subtle hint of who cloud loves though.. Since he had recall those flashback/dream those conversation shortly after he first met Aerith.. (Altough it's debatable he got this dream to react for "I haven't slept in a bed like this ....in a long time." line, but still it was happened in Aerith's house, so..)

You know, I found that it's interesting in FF7, when he found/knew something new and important, he will immediately had flashbacks/dreams regarding those things.. Example..

This is happened shortly after he first knew about the Ancients.. After Aerith got kidnapped by Tseng and Sector 7 fallen..

Besides, IMHO, this whole Cloud-mom conversation shown that Cloud was not interested in any woman, by the time when Cloud had this conversation, not like "I'm not interested in an older girlfriend" kind of thing..

The lines that I've bold makes me think that Cloud was uncomfortable with that girlfriend thing.. And didn't has any girl in his mind by that time.. :)

I think sha answered that one pretty well. :) He never flat out stated he didn't care about older women, he just wasn't interested in a girlfriend at all at that time.
