Title: Transformers Movie
Description: More than meets the eye...

MistaCloudStrife - July 3, 2007 06:17 AM (GMT)
Just watched it today. Special one time viewing for the 2nd of July.

LOVED IT. I dunno if I'm just being biased because it's one of my childhood pastimes, but I think unlike several several similar movies, this one actually lives up to all of it's hype. The movie was kind of lengthy, but all of the comedy and action make it more than worth sitting through.

I think for all those who have seen the original Transformers as a child, this is a must see. Hell, I think this movie will probably be the number one summer movie to watch. It was amazing. It actually received a standing ovation; something I have never seen at all before.(Clapping yes, standing and clapping, no)

Anyways, here's the thread. And I won't spoil anything yet. =)

 I didn't like it. Megatron didn't look right at all!! He was all...white! Besides Optimus Prime sounded strange to me. I miss you black and purple Megatron...

MistaCloudStrife - July 3, 2007 06:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah I knew they were going to change alot of looks since the beginning so i was ready for that. But how exactly did Optimus sound strange??? O.O It baffles me because they actually use Peter Cullen, the same guy that did the orginal Optimus.

NekoDono - July 3, 2007 07:05 AM (GMT)
Maybe it sounded odd because a bit of time has passed since thr original series and the actor's voice has changed some. And I will never forgive ruining my beloved Megatron. (I'm a Deceptacon at heart. :lmao: )

MistaCloudStrife - July 3, 2007 07:08 AM (GMT)
Well I'm actually glad they changed him. It wouldn't have been that great an impact if he were big and purple and turned into a giant laser pistol. imo anyway. =)

My brother watched it, and he and his friends agreed it was THE movie of the year. I'm glad to hear that, because Spiderman 3 and Shrek 3 generally disappointed us, with POTC 3 barely scraping by.

Bugger instantly spoiled me about who dies, though. >_<

He also shared some of the comedic scenes with me, and I was already laughing my ass off! This is definitely one movie I plan to watch. :D And then, just maybe, I'll have something to contribute to this thread.

I liked it, but I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. I came to this movie to see TRANSFORMERS, not the ADVENTURES OF SAM WITWICKY AND HIS WET DREAM. Really people, less Mikalah more AUTOBOTS.

I think that was the main problem. We didn't get to spend too much time with the autobots or really get to see their individual personalities and relationships save a few scenes. But for some mind boggling reason, we were able to learn completely irrelevant information like how Mikalah's father was in jail and she had a record. And I'm like, WHY DOES THIS MATTER? WHERE IS IRONHIDE? Honestly, the whole thing felt like they put it in there to please horny fan boys who were living out their geeky fantasies through the movie - you know, the one where the awkward kid is in lust with the hot popular girl who goes out with jocky beef heads who treat her bad and really she's not shallow she's just misunderstood and in pain cuz of her daddy issues and all she needs is a geeky fanboy to heal her broken soul and what better to help bring them together than armageddon?

Please.

Anyway, for me I definitely wanted to see more of the autobots and decepticons. Prime and Megatron's fight was WAY too short as well and that was a huge disappointment. But all in all, it was fun to watch. Great comedy, great lines, amazing cg. Thought Bumblebee's voice was a little weird (his real voice i mean) but he was still cool. Also hated Jazz. Really, do we need more black stereotypes in movies? Are they that important that even among giant non biological organisms from space, there must be a 'black one'? I know that in the cartoon he was the cool one but they too obviously tried to make him black and then explained it away with some lame ass explanation (learned the language through the net). Whatever. Me, my friends - and probably other black people throughout the universe who saw this movie - think it's hilarious that the black autobot was the only one who died - and horribly at that. And they lamented over his death for like, three seconds. Oh Hollywood. I guess it really is hard out here for a pimp.

Despite its flaws it was a good movie, but could have been much better. It was definitely fun to watch though. I can watch the transformers transform in and out of their two forms over and over again. So amazing! And lol was Paris Hilton in the movie? Towards the end it looked like it!

nyrin pretty much summed it up for me. The love story was disgusting and the movie would have been better without it.

I hated all the humans. I didn't feel for any of them except for the one soldier with the baby. That was IT.

The story sucked, BUT the bots were amazing. In a perfect world, I'd have a Transformers movie with JUST Transformers. None of this LOL I R LADIESMAN crap. And yus, I squeed when I saw Optimus Prime. *Had the toys as a child*

THE BEST PART EVER WAS WHEN THE LITTLE BOT GOT SCARED BY THE GOLDFISH. <333333333333333333

I watched the movie today! :hyper: And I was making notes about what to squee about when I finally got on a computer, but I think I gave up by the time the autobots arrive. OMG. OMFG.

I must've orgasmed at that part. Nothing else could describe that utter OMFGthisissoawesome!!1 feeling. There was something inexplicably OMFGthisissoawesome!!1 watching each of them transform and converge at that... meeting spot place. :hyper:

As a casual fan, I just loved it. It totally helped that Childhood Memory kicked in to remind me, vaguely, who was who as they were introduced. The movie got a lot of things right and fun and all that, but...

Wooooooord. Is some stupid love story Hollywood's requirement for making any movie? It was so unnecessary, and so forced, and Sam showed way more emotion with Bumblebee anyway. Why could it not have been just an Iron Giant-esque boy and his car thing?

Though I found the on-going ARE YOU LADIESMAN217??!!? hilarious. And there's just something about Optimus Prime saying "eBay"...

But my friend and I were seriously annoyed that we find out next to nothing about the bots themselves. Five minutes of introducing "He's the smart one, he's the cool one, he's the gun-wielding hothead, he's the--" a Transformers movie does not make! Heck, all we get from the decepticons are their names and nothing else.

Way too many humans, definitely. I'm looking at half the people and thinking, "Why are you here if you are skin and bones and without cool alternate transforming sk33lz?!" And none of them even DIED. I would've thought that many humans would've meant at least SOME of them were gonna be cannon fodder, but no! Instead, who dies a really crappy death that if my brother hadn't warned me about, I might not have even realised it?!

SPOILERS: Oh, my poor Jazz. :cray:

Curse of the Black Actor. It was complained about in some other movie-- Evolution, I think. It's always the black guy who dies first.

Even after reading your post, I didn't expect the speech to be THAT heavily... well, stereotypical. What the hell? And it really seemed to be for no purpose other than to have a "black" voice. But you know what's even worse? Prime says he learned it from the WWW but not once did Jazz say, "All your base are belong to us." Not once! Which internet, exactly, was he surfing?

But, oh, call me a softie, but my fangirl heart broke at the Bumblebee abuse. Didn't expect the voice they gave him either. It was, um... older than I imagined?

Anyway. Will probably buy the DVD for this when it comes out. It was still, if nothing else, extremely cool. I didn't mind at all that it took so long for the bots to appear, because the movie kept teasing you with one or two and you just KNOW that's a freaking bot. It was a very effective build-up for Prime's entrance. But it should've been, when everyone was finally there, it should've been all Transformers and the Humans really really should've taken a back seat. Huge back seat. In the trunk. Tied up and gagged.

Oops, went back to grumbling. Loved the movie, go watch, yay for sequelz.

Actually, I kinda enjoyed Sam =ducks tomatoes=
I thought that he's pretty entertaining lol xD

Bumblebee was sooooo adorable. Like Lynn, my eyes were wet when you know.. *coughcough spoilers cough*

Optimus Prime & his internet <3333

:( I'm torn between marrying a transformer and a ninja turtle now

Anti-R - July 15, 2007 11:18 PM (GMT)
Well, you can marry both. :D

I did squee on parts (Optimus Prime with Internet is LOVE~!), but like nyrin said I was put down by too many humans and not enough substance about the giant alien robots.

It's like watching TMNT with Casey and April romance dominant in the story, with the Turtles coming in only for the fight scenes (thank God that didn't happen).
