xx-Forever-Aerith-xx - June 2, 2007 08:08 PM (GMT)
Ok i was playing FF7 today :D and i was playing it from like well i can't remember but its before Cloud is washed up in that Village :D

anyway when they (Everyone) is looking for Cloud if you talk to Vincent he says

QUOTE
Too much hope is the opposite of Despair.
An overwelming Love may consume you in the end...

No obviously this was sed to Tifa but i don't know what he means?

I asked my mum and she explained but i still don't get it

ok now for the other one this is during the Lifestream Scene and when you talk to the Cloud that sitting down like on the stairs he says
QUOTE
.... A sealed up secret...wish
Tender Feelings....
that no-one can ever know

what does he mean? (as you can see i am confused super easily)

And also when you are at Th City of the ancients after you get the key (well i think its after) Cloud is talking about Aerith and he says he "Remembers Aerith alot"

but then he starts staying stuff like No Not that
and You Haven't remembered you haven't forgotten thats not it

and then he says

QUOTE
How Would you say it
Aeris was right there all along
Right by our side
She was so Close we couldn't see her

What Aeris Did...
the words she left behind

so can anyone tell me what these quotes mean?

Thanks if you can and i hope you understand what i'm talking about :D

"Too much hope is the opposite of Despair.
An overwelming Love may consume you in the end..."

Hoping too much is just as bad as falling into despair. If you can't let something go, it could very well eat you up inside.

".... A sealed up secret...wish
Tender Feelings....
that no-one can ever know"
Cloud was sort of admitting that he's not the tough cool guy that he wants everybody to think he is. His got his own tending feelings and dreams but he doesn't want anybody to know it or know what they are.

I really don't know how to phrase the last one very well.

I think the "How would you say it? Aeris right there all along" means that how she was right there all along is she lived on in their hearts and there were also probably times when they migth have felt her prescence. And the other phrase "She was so close we couldn't see her" may mean that even though she was with them all along some of them may not have realized or didn't acknowledge the fact that she was with AVALANCHE in their hearts all along even after her passing. Then "What Aeris said . . . The words she left behind" means that what she always said, her optimism, everything about her and her words of wisdom and kindness would probably live on in all their hearts for the rest of their lives.

Sorry I'm not that good at interpreting. Even some of the very intellectual stuff I say I can't even interpret.

Uhh... The first sentence is pretty simple, he's basically saying that hope is an antonym for despair. I guess that he's saying that the result of both too much hope and despair can destroy/devour/break you down.

This was said before Tifa went onto Cloud's past to learn about what he went through as a child.

He had a secret/wish that he didn't tell anyone... I'm guessing that he wanted to be noticed and a part of Tifa's group. He says that they're tender feelings... so obviously, these memories are important to him, these are memories that shaped Cloud into what he is. And he finishes with "that noone can ever know"... this basically just confirms that this is a secret that he's been hiding and doesn't want anyone to know.(So you can feel special that you know Cloud's little secret =) )

QUOTE

What Aeris Did...
the words she left behind

Umm... I believe MotP can explain this pretty well. Aeris after her death was still watching over everyone. I believe Cloud finally realized this when he said that quote. And when he says "She was so close we couldn't see her" I would like to think that "she was so close" meant that she was inside them... so of course if she was inside of you you wouldn't see her. Her spirit lives in them. =) And of course what she did and the word she left behind should be obvious. She prayed for Holy, and even had a little solo for Cloud where she stated that she "didn't want him to break". (Love the scenes that overlap AC scenes)

Hope that helps a little... I'm pretty bad at explaining some things.

These two lines seems pretty strightforward to me. I don't think they really have any hidden meanings to them.

QUOTE

Tender Feelings....

As a child, Cloud had a secret wish. He has never told anyone this secret wish before and doesn't want anyone knowing, because it brings up tender feelings. People often disagree on what "tender" means and what this secret wish is. Most Clotis believe "tender" was used in a way to mean feelings that are soft, romantic, and precious. Basically, they think this secret wish is about romantic feelings and yearnings for Tifa.

IMO, the word here was used to mean feelings that are sensitive, sore, and painful. Think of it like when you fall and scrape a knee or an elbow. That area is scraped, bruised, and would feel very tender. They're painful memories that one may not want to recall, and I think it's pretty clear that the memories Cloud conjures up about his past aren't happy ones at all. They were about him having been blamed for something that we all know wasn't his fault, being left-out and lonely, and desiring to fit in with Tifa (who was the most popular child in town) and the rest of the other children.

Cloud is pretty much saying here that just because they can't see Aerith, it doesn't mean she isn't with them. She has been there all along. MoTP portrayed, very well, the idea of death not being the end to existence. Nomura explained that rather than memories, it's actually her consciousness that's continuing to live on in Cloud.
