Well, simple question. What operating system do you use>

Around my school, I've actually earned the title of "The Microsoft Atheist", so I obvously don't use Windows. PROUD TO BE MICROSOFT FREE!

Anyway, I use Red Hat Linux 9...

I use Window's XP. Unfortunately I have not escaped from the grasp of Bill Gates

Why bother?

Linux is stable, doesn't have as much liscencing crap, and most versions are FREE!!

Except that Linux is not quite as user-friendly (it requires more techno-savvy to operate it effectively) and that most software out there is made for Windows. Until Microsofts's trust-like control over the pc operating system industry is broken, other systems such as Linux will just not be viable options for most people.

You can run Windows software on Linux. And it's actually VERY user freindly.

Hmmm, really? My friend who was a huge Linux fan would always try to demonstrate to me all the great things it could do, but would always end up botching or struggling with it. Perhaps he's not the computer whiz we all thought...

Either that or his distro sucks. Do you know what he was using?

Buhon - February 1, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
I have no clue... he's a man of mystery

miracle_angel - February 1, 2005 11:20 PM (GMT)

I'm still on my very first computer. My family got it on sale in 1998 and we haven't upgraded it since. <_<

And I use Windows 98.

Cloud Gainsborough - February 16, 2005 04:09 AM (GMT)
Hey, sometimes I come here using my desktop which is from 1997. Sometimes I log on with my laptop. which is from 1993. It still runs fine, too...

Kaldea - February 16, 2005 04:12 AM (GMT)
I can barely turn my computer on and off properly and without errors. I need a new computer bad. :(

Cloud Gainsborough - February 16, 2005 04:17 AM (GMT)
It's proably all in the software, you most likely don't need a new PC

Materia Thief - February 16, 2005 04:21 AM (GMT)
ME!

It's slower then XP and more buggy then 98. <_<

I'm getting an IBook soon though, so I'm happy. ^_^
