Title: I Had No Idea...
Description: ... this is what it was like

Ok well when i first started to play FF7 (i was like 11 or 12) i was hooked straight away and i just loved watching Cloud and Aeris get closer and closer and even then they 2 for me were the couple u know?
But i mean it was only like last year that i noticed people were talking about how Cloud and Tifa were the couple (lol i'm so nieve). I mean i was seriously stumped i just didn't know what they seen i mean at first i thought like EVERYONE that played FF7 knew that Cloud and Aeris were the couple i just mean to this day i still don't see what it is that they obviously seen and for me the movie just (in my mind) proved that Cloud and Aeris were the couple u know?
so my point is basically did anyone else get like really confused when Clotis started talking about how Cloud and Tifa were the couple. and like if you did when for you did all this start? xxxxx :cleris:
If this comment made no sense just tell me :D

Yeah, I know what you mean. It was obvious to me, from playing FFVII, that Cloud loved Aerith. I could see that Tifa loved Cloud, but could clearly tell that Cloud didn't return her feelings. It was only years later, upon the announcement of FFVII:AC, that I entered the online fandom and saw the LTDs. I was just as stumped as you were. I am still unsure where the so-called "CloTi evidence" is, because all of it is so easily countered with facts and logic. I feel as if ClAeris was proven time and time again in the game and the movie, as well as subsequent games.

I was the same. Like FF_G, I could see that Tifa had feelings for Cloud, but I really really thought that he was in love with Aerith, and Aerith loved him back. I thought it was obvious by all the cute scenes they had together, like when he agreed to be her bodyguard in exchange for a date, just a few hours after he'd refused to help AVALANCHE unless he got more money for the next mission, and when he teases her about having what it takes to be in the Turks, how they laugh together, how Aerith enjoys making him crossdress and how Cloud goes to save her even though it means going directly to Shinra's HQ (and Barret's comment that 'even you will fight for other people'), and so on and so on. Cloud's reaction to her death, and much later, the ending scene where he says he can meet her in the Promised Land, just cinched it for me.
Then there was all the merchandise, nothing that promoted Cloud/Tifa and lots of things that promoted Cloud/Aerith. Art, soundtracks, coke figures, commerical, FFT cameo. It seems like it's only very recently, since AC, that things like that have balanced out and started to include Tifa a little more.
It was actually only when I got into the fandom and started making Hikari (my CxA shrine) that I realised that Cloud/Tifa had a big fan following too, and that there were people who just didn't see Cloud/Aerith the way I did.

Too this day though i still don't understand what it is the Clotis see and i'm kinda in a weird way disturbed by the fact they make up their own proof (i know this is competely off topic lol)
Wel thanks for Commenting :D x

The Cloud-loves-Tifa thing is just annoying I mean we all know Cloud loves Aeris. And that thing is a girl that likes to manipulate Cloud to make him do all what she wants, she is EVIL!
And when the Cloti thing appeared I didn't got confused I just thought that they were wanting Cloud to betray Aeris. Aeris and Cloud are the REAL couple and that's it

Yep, FFT=Final Fantasy Tactics. :D In Final Fantasy Tactics, Cloud appears, stating he has "lost a very important thing". He also states that he is "searching for the Promised Land". This final statement is reminiscent of Cloud's statement at the end of FFVII ("......I think I'm beginning to understand. An answer from the planet... the Promised Land... I think I can meet her... there...") and proves that he is searching for Aerith in this game. He also repeats the same lines that he spoke during Aerith's death scene ("What's this? My fingers are tingling... My eyes... they're burning...") and states "I must go to that place".
Aerith also appears in the game as a flower girl. Cloud stumbles across her after being summoned into that world by Ramza, who uses a Holy stone to do so. While this incarnation of Aerith doesn't recognize Cloud, she is named "Aeris" by Knave, who kidnaps her. Cloud then shows up and rescues the flower girl, furiously telling Knave to get his "filthy hands" off Aeris. ^_^
It is also interesting to note that Cloud is the only male in FFT that can equip a Ribbon (And who wore a ribbon in FFVII? Aerith! ^_^ ) Not only that but Cloud has a new final Limit Break in FFT. That's right, no more Omnislash. This time around, Cloud has Cherry Blossoms, an elemental attack that involves flowers (And who was the flower girl of FFVII? Aerith! ^_^ )!
What is terribly interesting about this game is that it was already being produced before FFVII was even released. So, any claims that Aerith's appearance with Cloud in this game was mere "fan service" are negated. When this game was being produced, there were no rabid CloTi fans or ClAeris fans to satisfy. They had no reason to service fans that did not yet exist. They were merely following up on the true romance in FFVII- that of Cloud and Aerith.
As for Merchandise... egads, there is tons! :o Cloud and Aerith have been used in marketing other Square products, including a series of Coca-Cola figures (pictured alongside Squall and Rinoa from FFVIII) and the Final Fantasy S Generation soundtrack. They were also used to market FFVII, along with Barret, on posters, mousepads, etc....
There was also a special cold-cast sculpture of a scene from FFVII released. That scene was of Cloud lowering Aerith's body into the water during her funeral scene. What is interesting to note is that, later, with the release of FFVIII, Square released yet another cold-cast sculpture of a scene from FFVIII. This time, it was of Squall and Rinoa, during the ball at Balamb Garden. So, once again, we see Cloud and Aerith paired up in a piece of official Square merchandise. Not only that, but they appear to be endorsing Cloud and Aerith as a couple, right along with Squall and Rinoa. S-E has never done this for Cloud and Tifa.
Also, at E3 2005, we caught a glimpse of the brand new PlayStation console, due to be released in 2006- the PS3. To showcase the graphics of this machine, S-E prepared a tech demo. Fans were overjoyed to see the entire beginning of FFVII redone in the amazing graphics of the PS3. The only two main characters seen in this demo were, of course, Cloud and Aerith, the hero and heroine of FFVII. So... why am I bringing this up? Because S-E chose to recreate a scene which exclusively shows Cloud and Aerith. They did not show any scenes of Cloud with Tifa. Heck, they even left off the other members of AVALANCHE exiting the train. The entire demo was centered on Aerith and then Cloud.
Another point I would like to make about this demo is the fact that the demo for the PS2, when it first came out, was centered on Squall and Rinoa. Interesting, no? ^_^ The true couple from FFVIII was showcased with the PS2 and the true couple from FFVII was showcased with the PS3. Wake up and smell the reality, CloTis. XD

I had no idea either that cloti was an actuall possibility for a canon pairing in
America
Of course on Strifeheart(that cloti site) the clotis took quotes from this topic, posted
them, just so they could poke fun at how stupid they think we Cleris are. LOL as
if we're the ones that don't understand what ffvii is all about. In Japan cleris isn't
even questioned. There may be clotis, but they know who the canon couple is LOL
:cleris:

While they're maybe quoting us, we shouldn't pay them much attention to what our words affect them here, out of LTD thread-wise.
They believe Cloti is canon, let them, we believe Cleris is, so we mind ourselves in the Pink. (Did that sound even normal?) They enjoy their pairing, we enjoy ours.
As for other countries, it depends on culture. After all, it's generally actions that speaks volumes in Asia. In western countries, we're more prone to out-spoken behaviours and whatnot, with all our novels and Hollywood movies.
