- All of the usual club rules apply.

Isn't it ironic that The League of Proper English misspelled proper? :lmao:

Maybe a mod/admin can fix the title, but either way, I'll join. I'm a grammar fanatic. I can't spell well, but I use spellcheck to make up for it.

NekoDono - April 29, 2007 06:38 PM (GMT)
O_O Damn, I used my Microsoft Word to check that. Apparently it can't spell! XD My apologies everybody!

Amathala - April 29, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
I went ahead and fixed the title for you. :)

I'll join as well. I'm so sick and tired of seeing all these people take the easy way around typing. Lately everyone in school has some sort of typing class, PAY ATTENTION! It's not too hard to learn to type correctly!

Kaldea - April 29, 2007 11:02 PM (GMT)
I shall join. The only time I use horrid internet-speak myself is when I'm mocking it. :lmao:

Imaginary__girl - April 30, 2007 06:40 PM (GMT)
Sign me up, please! I love proper English and grammer. It's very becoming. ^_^

Tacofoolio - May 2, 2007 05:01 PM (GMT)
homg u want 2 git rid of mai 1337ness?!!!!!!111 :tard: phailure.

 Kidding of course. I don't mind internet talk if it's occasionally on a messenger with friends or mocking it in spam threads, but it's so annoying when people ALWAYS use it. I mean, how do you expect me to take you seriously if you can't be bothered to write you as opposed to u, and completely ignore the shift key? I totally join.

Angelalex242 - May 2, 2007 10:51 PM (GMT)
I also have a place in this club, for I almost never use internet speak. I take pride in my articulation.

Resha - May 2, 2007 11:32 PM (GMT)
Yeep! I shall join. I only use internet talk when texting or in instant messengers....

Anti-R - May 3, 2007 12:51 AM (GMT)
I'll join.

I'm the type who edits everything I write obsessively. >.<

Paladin's Heart - May 3, 2007 12:56 AM (GMT)
Me too! Once while I was typing my post, and I stopped to read it, my brother said "You PROOFREAD your posts?!". :lmao: Sign me up, please!

NekoDono - May 7, 2007 12:22 PM (GMT)
XD I spoke to my father about this and he said to me "I can not understand why any one types like that!" My father is a writer and thus has trained me to be OCD about writing. ^_^ Thank you all for joining! Spread the word!

MistaCloudStrife - May 7, 2007 09:19 PM (GMT)
You do know if 1337 speak or "internet talk" is continually used for however long, they might just be added into the dictionary? I wouldn't be surprised if PWNed, Leet, Noob, and such are added into the english dictionary in the near future.

yin-chan - May 8, 2007 10:05 AM (GMT)
omg, j00 guyz!!1! I mst join dis clb, its so kewl!1!!!

Sign me up! I can't stand it when people type all n00bIsH and it takes me ages to read a post littered with bad spelling and grammar and lEtTeRs ThAt lK lYk3 d1S. I can't stand it! Makes my head implode.

Awesome idea for a club, haha!

daydreamer198 - May 8, 2007 10:50 AM (GMT)
I want to join. ^_^

I have an extremely bad habit of going back and editing any spelling mistakes in anything, so I think this clue will suit me fine.

Heavens Cloud - May 8, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm the same, I always seem to go over anything I type to make sure it looks proper... though I do use the occasional 1337 speak once in a while, I never make an extreme habit of it... so, why not, I'll sign up! :)

XD This club is "kewl". I love my fellow speakers of the English language.

Welcome all of those who are new to The League. Please continue to spread the word of The League of Proper English. We need some club signatures! I can not make any right now because I can not use my Macintosh computer. Ugh.

Wintercream - May 14, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)
[Raises hand]

May I join in please?
I confess I was one of those horrible untamed internet speaking heathens...

But I am changed my ways so to speak.

May I join in?

:)

Materia Thief - May 17, 2007 07:39 AM (GMT)
I'd definitely like to join. :)

I tend to slip into "internet chatspeak" when I talk to friends online (all in jest of course), but almost anywhere else online and I type with an oddly formal tone, for the most part. D:

NekoDono - May 17, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
I have added you all. ^_^ Isn't that nice? I'm glad to hear that you have seen the light, Wintercream. I can't wait until internet talk is defeated.

Nocturnal~Fantasy - May 24, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)
I'll join! It bugs me when people type like that. It bothers me to no end! GRR! I mainly only type like that in text messages ^^

illwaitforever1 - May 24, 2007 08:35 PM (GMT)
I shall join, if you want me to of course.
But I warn you, I have trouble spelling sometimes :D

Oh, don't worry. As long as you try I do not mind. I make spelling mistakes too. This is mostly to defeat the use of internet chat talk. Thank you for joining. :D

DeathGigas - May 25, 2007 04:21 AM (GMT)
I can't join this because I'm illiterate. lol

NekoDono - May 25, 2007 12:21 PM (GMT)
You can join any way! Why? Because you spelled illiterate right. What an acrobatic feet in the English language!

Lutearina - June 2, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
Oh, goodness, I MUST join this club. :D

I am a grammar/spelling NERD. DX Haha, my school friends can tell you all about that. :P

RAWR. What annoys me is when people tell people off for having bad grammar, and spelling it "grammer". DX Sure, they're different things, but...GAH. It's slightly ironic, I think. O:

Rikkulicious - June 2, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
lol,wtf is dIzclub abut???? LMAO,ur a nerd!! 1!!!!a/s/l!???????

???

plzR&R !!!!!

:fangirl:

Can I join, though? I really hate it when people type like that ALL THE TIME, they just make themselves look really dumb, like they didn't pass 2nd grade or something. I don't understand why ANYONE would type like that regularly, it really doesn't take that much effort to construct a simple freakin' sentence, go to dictionary.com or open Microsoft Word, please.

NekoDono - June 3, 2007 05:22 PM (GMT)
Sorry I'm so slow of adding. I've been busy with a wedding but here you are. Spread the word and keep typing in proper English.

Sadhana - June 3, 2007 08:01 PM (GMT)
Update fellow grammar nerds:

I have become the official proofreader of my circle of friends. When something needs to proofread, I take out my red pen, and by the end there's more red than black. My English teacher said that I have the most impeccable grammar he's seen for someone my age.

NekoDono - June 3, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
Excellent! Our league is growing into an authority of grammar and spelling! I applaud you Sadhana.

EDIT: I made us a simple banner. Here you are darlings!

PinkRibbon - June 16, 2007 01:40 AM (GMT)
May I join?

Two of my pet peeves:
1) When people can't tell the difference between "you're" and "your"
2) When people can't tell the difference between "it's" and "its"

NekoDono - June 16, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)
Welcome to the LOPE, PinkRibbon. Make sure to spread the word and use proper English! :gift:

Gah, I HATE it when people get them mixed up! I also hate it when people get 'their', 'there', and 'they're' mixed up.

I hate all "txt tlk", and I think it's disgusting. I wish that people took pride in grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and the correct English language, and I hate it when n00bish myspace users rape the language.

"Omg wtf y r u doin dat"
Ugh!

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - July 5, 2007 10:40 AM (GMT)
May I join? I sometime nitpick spelling and grammar mistakes, too, when I see them, both in English and Japanese. (Let's say a Japanese teacher once described broccolis as 'pretty'...)

Sure if it's informal chat talk over messenger, but when it comes to something serious, internet speaks hardly earn you enough respect.

NekoDono - July 5, 2007 04:45 PM (GMT)
You both have been added! Welcome to The League! Spread the word and keep using proper English!

White Lotus - July 6, 2007 01:04 AM (GMT)
Thank you.

I actually created one of these clubs on ACF, yesterday: (People who Value the English Language), to help spread the word. :D

All of my freinds at school use myspace, and when they talk to me, they ALWAYS use internet talk. My best freind doesn't use net lingo, but her grammar's not too good.

Lemme quote my school freind, Shane on Myspace:
"lol same but ima bout to play bf2142 so i wont be bored anymore"
:(

By the way, Neko, I think I have the brushes that you used in your signature. :P

NekoDono - July 6, 2007 05:03 PM (GMT)
^_^ Good to hear you are spreading the word. This club will insight proper english all over the internet. As for the signature, that is CG's work. I'm feeling a little lazy and asked her to make one. *stares lazily at her Photoshop CS2*

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - July 6, 2007 11:37 PM (GMT)
Another peeve, misspelling, grammar mistake and so forth in fanfiction, yet was considered the 'best story ever' by reviewers. (That oddly sound like TTE fit that criteria...)

There's a reason why story hosting websites have the replacing chapters option, to include the improved version for view!

Well, you are right Pyra. I hate it when authors put "please forgive poor spelling/grammar" or something like that. So what? I am supposed to ignore your inability to write because you asked me to? <_< And yes, TTE is a perfect example. People adore that piece of fan fiction yet it is among the worst for spelling and grammar!

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - July 7, 2007 10:03 AM (GMT)
I know what you mean, Neko. I've read it entirely (with the MST, of course, to lessen the pain) and left a review to let TSQoH know what to fix, if she ever read it.

Also let's not forget the obvious misspelling of characters' names. I don't mind if there's alternative names like Aeris/Aerith. But I swear a little part of me dies whenever I saw 'Naurto' instead of Naruto, 'Saukra' instead of Sakura, etc.
