Title: Obsession
Description: for Pocky...

Resha - April 22, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
Black Bitter Marble Pocky. Hell even the name's irresistable. I'm alone at home for a while now and since I am alone, I finished eating all the pocky supplies for the whole month...I don't really know why I have this crave but I'm actually eating another strawberry pocky that I just bought from the grocery store yesterday, and the worst is, it's very expensive because I eat another box of pocky when one box is empty!!! I've wasted my whole allowance for this delicious crap and I rather eat little pretzels for breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and this started three weeks ago! From that day on, I haven't swallowed any other food... <_< oh gosh I don't want to be fat!!! Can anyone help me ASAP? I'm munching another pocky here and this box is the last stock!!!

Hmm well you seem to have some type of sweet tooth. Lucky for you, I had somthing like this happen to me about a few months ago so i know how it feels like.
You say you havn't put anything else in your mouth for the past three weeks yes?
Well is there anything personal going on in your life? Somthing that is bothering you? If so, maybe you are self-conciesly eating pocky as some sort of comfort food. Also scientific study states that taste can triger back lost memories. Both good and bad. And many times if the memories are bad then the person can go into a depression. Even if nothing wrong is going on in your life, currently.

Also you stated that you have been home alone for a while now. Perhaps you are eating mounds of pocky becuase of the fact that you are lonely? If that is the case, try inviting some friends over.
They say friendship can be the best medicine for lonliness.
:huggle:

or.

It is common for people to develop somesort of need for a certain type of food. So basically, it could be more of an addiction than an obsession. Kind of like cigarrette's. After having a few you develop the need to have some. Your cravings are probably someting around that.

Or maybe it is some sort of eating disorder. If that is the case i suggest you see a doctor A.S.A.P.

I hope I helped you out, at least a bit Resha.
Get better soon.

The caloric in take on pocky is extraordinary and certainly unhealthy. One stick of basic chocolate pocky is 150 calories. One box of pocky generally contains 30-40 sticks. This totals to 4500 to 6000 empty calories taken in in one go. Plus you can't get full on it so it just tacks on. I have eaten Hello Kitty (Strawberry) Pocky and Pocky For Men (A sort of chocolate) and I'm kicking it all together. Although I may weigh only 120 lbs and am 5'4'' it is NOT good for you. I'm not saying to kick that habit all together. Just keep your "obsession" to a limit.

I had the same thing with chicken flavored Ramen a couple of months ago. It wasn't until I found out that I went from 120lbs to over 150lbs that I stopped.

It might just be an addiction right now. If you think worse, I agree with Wintercream and you should go see a doctor ASAP. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. I just stopped and started working out slightly.

Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

Wintercream, and everyone, thank you. :huggle: But I don't think I'm going through personal purposes...In fact, I don't even miss anyone-friend, family, or whoever. I went to the doctor today and told me the same thing, she laughed at the whole pocky idea. She told me, the best way I can resist is to let someone buy the food and these food should either be fruits and vegies or both. They checked my weight and I'm 110 lbs, they told me I should be at least, 117 lbs, they said I was completely underweight with the fact I'm turning 21 this July. And my height, 5'4", to their surprise that this crave started three weeks ago, I told them I've been walking from my house to the bay. But they found something really wrong: My blood sugar was incredibly high and told me there was a possibility that I could have diabetes. Then they injected some sort of medicine on me to lower down my food crave, I should go back to the hospital for weekly injections.

I don't want to have diabetes! No matter how I try to resist taking my wallet with me and go to the convenient store to buy pocky, it just comes instinctively. If anyone's curious, the last time I ate pocky was this morning.

I wonder if you're as lazy and nitpicky as I am? That's pretty much what stops me from snacking in uni (i.e. on my own and without parental supervision, like you):

1) I'm too lazy to walk down to the grocery store to buy biscuits, pocky, food...
2) I hate snacking while studying because my fingers will be all dirty and stain the page

Other than that, if you've finished your current pocky supply, try your best to avoid buying new boxes (or if you MUST, since going cold turkey might make things worse, buy smaller boxes of pocky). Once you feel a craving, dive for something else-- try to keep other snacks much more easily accessible than pocky, like cut fruits or juices.

Good luck, especially with the diabetes results. If nothing else, just remember THAT and maybe it'll make the craving go away.

Lynn is right. The only thing that you have to remember is the fact that you may have diabeties. It's not fun to have, trust me. I don't think going cold turkey would help. The way that I'm handeling my smoking is smoking one EVERY NOW AND THEN, which is about two a day for me from my 7 a day.

Good luck hunny.

Lynn, I think I'm lazier cuz I'm 20 and still orders my younger brother to get me some water...
The injection process will be completed in 4 weeks, starting from today to May 10 '07, I'll be experiencing big needles, they've also contacted my older sister (sheesh I'm 20 already) so they can check how I'm doing and list the things I eat, I told them I can do that myself but they seem to doubt me into it <_< I'll tell you guys what will happen to me at the end, thank you so much to the Pink Planet!!! :huggle:

Psst, guess what, I'm eating a rice bowl now!!! ^_^

Nocturnal~Fantasy - April 24, 2007 01:42 PM (GMT)
WOO! Rice bowl! Woot!

Good luck with the eating right.

And yes I do smoke, but I'm quitting ^^

Resha - May 3, 2007 02:18 AM (GMT)
Ah, guys, it seems that the injection and my frequent hospital visits will last this July, I didn't expect it will be this long! The doctor said if I ever miss one needle of the week, I'm on the verge of diabetes, and I don't want that!!!

Wintercream - May 3, 2007 11:50 AM (GMT)
Hmm well Diabetes is a very serious dealing here.
Just make sure you don't miss a shot and you will be fine.

Good luck though and hope you feel better.

I thin you could probably go cold turkey.

I wouldn't compare eating pocky to smoking cigarettes. Unlike cigarettes, you won't feel any different after not eating pocky after a while.

Or you might be able to do this as well. Buy as much pocky as you can afford and eat as much as you can at one time. I mean like, take 6 at a time and chow them all down and keep going until you're sick of them. Yeah, it might make things worst, but something like that would probably help me.
