Title: Movie Editing Program
Description: Any recommendations?

I make AMVs from time to time, and up until now I've been using the Windows Movie Maker that came with my computer. But recently it's been giving me a lot of problems like suddenly needing to close, etc. Actually, for some reason, it always gave me problems. Does anyone use a different program to make AMVs that they can recommend? I've been dying to get one of those that can do the fancy special effects.

You can try Vegas Studio or something like that, but it cost money. Try something like a free trial. I too am looking for a new one. WMM sucks after a while, and not to mention, it is a pain in the butt when you have those problems.

Yeah, WMM is good to start but horrible to stay with. It's always problems with WMM.

Anyway I had to make the same step some time ago. I tried Ulead Video Studio but it is just as crappy as WMM is. My father happened to have Adobe Premiere, so I tried that. Premiere is a semi-professional program these days, so it is really hard to learn and hellishly expensive (more than 1000$).
What I actually want to say is: It depends on what you want. Premiere and "After Effects" do have the fancy effects but everyone who pays that price is crazy.
Vegas is said to be the best one that is still affordable, so maybe you should stick with that. Try free trial versions to see if it is what you are looking for.

I heard that you can find older versions of these really expensive programms on Ebay for low prices, so you should look around there once you have decided.

Thanks for the suggestions! Since I'm doing this solely for fun, I don't think I want to burn too large a hole in my pocket. I'll download a free trial and see how that goes.
