Title: When Was This Said ?

You know how the bit where Tifa and Cloud are like talking and she asks

"Which is it a memory or us?"

and he thinks about Aeris :huggle:

Well when this is getting said

[referring to Aeris] Tifa Lockheart: Which is it? A memory or us?
[to self] Cloud: But... I let you die
[in Cloud's mind, sighs] Aerith Gainsborough: Dilly-dally, shilly-shally. Isn't it time you did the forgiving?

When was that said technicaly or is it all in his head
because i know there is more said at that wee bit but i mean is that a bit that was supposed to be said when they met in the flower field and we just never heard it or is it like i said in his head? :unsure:

I think that scene, and particularly that line ("But... I let you die...") is an overlapping between time and space. XD

The actual sequence of events would be:

Cloud and Tifa talk in the room.
Cloud leaves for Forgotten City.
As he's riding there, he enters the whitespace with Aerith.
He leaves whitespace, fights Kadaj.
Cloud talks with Vincent,.
Cloud leaves with Marlene.

While Tifa was talking to Cloud, he was still distracted by his own thoughts. So when Tifa says, "Which is it? A memory or us?" Cloud retreats to/is involved in a mental, imaginary conversation with Aerith in his head. Hence, "But I let you die." But there is no conclusion to that thought, because then he has to leave to rescue the children.

Later on: While Cloud is riding, he gets pulled into whitespace, talks with Aerith, and eventually comes to confess to her directly: "But I let you die." And her "dilly-dally, shilly-shally" brings his dilemma to its conclusion.

I hope that made sense... In short, I don't think it's a direct "Tifa talks to Cloud, then Cloud talks to Aerith" transition there. It's SE playing around with different scenes but linked through Cloud's guilt/confession. And I believe the "But I let you die"/"shilly-shally" scene took place when Cloud meets Aerith in the flowerfield.

Does Cloud go through a similar moment while talking to Vincent? I can't remember. >.<

I disagree, I thought she was referring to the guilt over Aerith, not Aerith herself-- but that's something for a different thread entirely. ^^;

Ok thanx :D

and i also think the line Tifa says
[referring to Aeris] Tifa Lockheart: Which is it? A memory or us?

is referring to the guilt i just got that off of a website i was quoting from a site :D x :cleris:

Actually, it could possibly goes like: (1-9 arranged by timetable)

<At 7th Heaven>
1.Cloud talks to Tifa

2.Reno & Rude refuses to rescue the kids, left

3.Tifa: "Which is it? Our memory or us?"--->I personally think she refers to Cloud's
failing Aerith; she says "Our" because
she was there at that moment.

4.Cloud: "But.....I let you die"

5.Aerith: (Responding to him....I DO believe Cloud could here that) "Dilli-daily...."

<At Forgotten City>
6.Cloud goes to recue the children
7.Cloud talks to Vincent. Vincent: "Is it all about fighting?"

8. Cloud falls into a previous memory and recalls "5"

9. Cloud decides to fight and brings Marlene home

PS: I remember when the cellphone drops into the lake, Aerith says that: "I never blame you, not once. YOU CAME FOR ME, that's all that matters."

So of course Cloud tells Kadaj that he comes for the kids. But we all know that he comes to ask Aerith's forgiveness. Aerith wishes that Cloud could take care of the kids, forgiving himself by saving others....that's what she means "ME" here: "You came for me(my wish). that's all that matters." :lol:

I dunno if this will be off-topic, but I think 'rescuing the children' isn't Cloud's main reason why he went to Forgotten City.

I feel that part of the reason why Cloud went was to rescue Marlene and Denzel, but I also feel that he was disturbed by the news that Kadaj was using the Forgotten City (Aerith's grave) as his base. After all, it was after Reno and Rude told him that the kids were at Kadaj's base, the Forgotten City, that Cloud suddenly took off. So, my opinion on Cloud's reasons for going?

50-75% rescue kids

25-50% pissed off that Kadaj was fouling Aerith's sacred burial site with his presence

But didn't the RF timeline say that there's a huge gap between the 7th Heaven scene and the Forgotten Capital scene?

I'm actually thinking...that Cloud's personal and more confidential reason why he went there is to meet Aerith...? So why then Aerith would say, 'you came that's all that matters' stuff, I mean, she can't lie about it, so Cloud's main reason is actually coming for Aerith, and a part for rescuing the kids...
XD I remember what Vincent told to Cloud:
"Is it all about fighting?"

It kinda supports it, you know.
