Title: Advent Children Complete?

xx-Forever-Aerith-xx - April 2, 2007 06:24 PM (GMT)
I read somewhere that there is going to be a new Advent Children released later this year or next year but i also heard rumours that Cloud dies :cloud:

Can someone else tell me if this is true?

Tetsuya Nomura has said in an Interview (don't know where though) that ACC is to replace Advent Children and that it isn't just deleted scenes its like i said to Replace the original.

So does anyone else know any more details? :)

oh also sorry if this is in the wrong place :)

I have not read that quote by Nomura, but Cloud appears very healthy and alive in Dirge of Cerberus, the game that takes place a year after AC.

Now, unless Nomura is planning to add a scene even AFTER DC that has Cloud dying, or to create a completely alternate timeline in which Cloud dies... I'd say it's just a rumour.

That said, AC Complete might be the same version I saw posts about several months earlier. The one where SE brags the detail is so amazing, you can see dirt on the characters.

There's a misunderstand about what Nomura meant he said 'replacement'. He's not talking about the film itself, it's about the changes being made to the film. They aren't simply putting in some new footage mixed in with the old, the new scenes (or rather new versions of the scenes) replace the old ones. It doesn't mean that the original AC is suddenly rendered meaningless, just that ACC offers a different interpretation and direction on some of the scenes. And Cloud's face comes with 20% more dirt.

But there's probably not much chance of Cloud dying, since ACC doesn't have any major changes to the story. It's still going to be the same basic film.

Thanks for clarifying, wilhelm. So I guess ACC isn't the one that came with Case of Barret?

Part of me's annoyed since this sounds like something they could've included in the AC DVD as an extra. <_< Maybe they only thought about cashing in on it after the DVD was sold.

And the other part's just plain curious, how they'll fiddle with some scenes.

CG technology well-spent!

No, ACC is the Blu-ray rerelease that's 'coming soon' (with is probably Square-Enix for "we have no idea when"). Although it was announced before they announced the second US release.

But I think the main reason behind doing it was so they'd be able to make use of the space available on BR disks, to up the quality and have it in HD without having to compress it like with the DVD. In that sense, releasing it on DVD again would kind of defeat the purpose of a BR release.

Does anyone have examples of which scenes, exactly, will be changed?

I remember seeing a screencap of the Sephiroth/Cloud showdown where Sephiroth lifted Cloud just like he did 7 years ago at the reactor, but that's it.

So far, they've shown changed versions of:

- the Kadaj and Rufus scene (has a cut of Kadaj holding up materia to Rufus' face)
- the highway battle (now features Yazoo using the machine guns in the front of their bikes)
- the Sephiroth vs. Cloud scene Zelda mentioned (also has some new dialogue recorded for it)

There have been a couple of scans showing images (the trailers haven't been released yet), they'll probably be on most Square-Enix related news sites.

Yeah, but did they do anything...drastic?

Like, say, adding a scene in Calling...

Or modifying a scene in Calling...
