Yup, you heard it! For the first time ever, Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog will star in a game together. Nintendo and Sega have teamed up to bring their two icons together to star in the official game for the 2008 Olympics.

So far, the current characters confirmed to play in the game are Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi and Tails. It is in very early developments so not much else is known.

I think the main appeal is that this collison has been talked about since 1991, and the rumours of Sonic being in the new Super Smash Bros game.
