Title: How Many Cleris Here...
Edge - March 21, 2007 04:27 PM (GMT)
Actually played the original game when they started liking Cleris? ^_^ Just curious.
FF_Goddess - March 21, 2007 04:37 PM (GMT)
I liked ClAeris form the very beginning. It always seemed obvious to me who Cloud loved in FFVII and I always saw Tifa as a girl with unrequited love. So, I was a bit surprised when I entered the online fandom and saw people arguing about who Cloud loved in FFVII. I just never saw any romantic feelings from Cloud to Tifa.
Kaldea - March 21, 2007 05:46 PM (GMT)
Original game for me, which is what made me a cleris way back then. Cloud shrug. <3
I thought everyone acted pretty immature in that game for people who wanted to save the world. :lmao:
cloud aries - March 21, 2007 06:09 PM (GMT)
For me it The original game, I first play it when it came out. When I saw Areith saw Cloud out for a date I thought that it was so cute.
NekoDono - March 21, 2007 06:45 PM (GMT)
Original game! I couldn't help but love them as I watched my brother play it for the first time!
Sadhana - March 21, 2007 07:02 PM (GMT)
The original game. I played it for the first time in 6th or 7th grade, and I got into Cleris as the game progressed. :D Aerith's death is probably what made me most fall in love with them since I'm a sucker for tragic romance. And I've never played Kingdom Hearts, and Advent Children came out waaaay after I first played the game.
Yukari - March 21, 2007 07:31 PM (GMT)
It was the original game for me too. All the little moments between Cloud and Aerith made me smile, like Cloud's teasing Aerith about being in SOLDIER, his little slip-up at Cosmo Canyon, how protective he was over her, how she came to him in his dreams and he felt in his soul that she was in the Forgotten City. Like FF_G, I was kinda surprised when I came into the online fandom and discovered that some fans saw Cloud x Tifa as canon.
Roseyrosho - March 21, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
It was definitely from the original game for me.
I just found it AMAZING how Cloud could change from being this cold careless bastard, to someone who actually cares. And Aerith was the one who made it happen imho, it was after he met her that he started to actually "give a shit" about things.
I just found them cute together since the beginning, they always teased around with one another and Cloud seemed light-hearted around her. Her death was really sudden and Cloud's reaction was just like someone who had just lost a significant other, it was very sentimental.
Then you just started to see little cameos and I heard about the compilation and the sorts. LoL it was the squee fest xD
Sefie - March 21, 2007 09:38 PM (GMT)
Defiantly the original game for me.
Real_Emotion - March 21, 2007 10:11 PM (GMT)
*Was a late bloomer* :P
Kingdom Hearts did it for me. When the original came out, I was a wee bit too young to even comprehend games like Final Fantasy. I would have rather played outside with the neighborhood kids or play Barbies back then. So young... so very very naive. But alas, I played KH when I first began being interested in rpg games.
I had seen each character individually in KH, but Aerith and Cloud(and Leon) somehow stood out the most. Then, I had finished the game and the mega cute little scene with Aerith and Cloud appeared. I was shocked and fangirling for them from that point. I had even remembered certain parts that finally clicked in my head as cleris. Then, I went on the internet and started researching about my new found favorite couple. I learned of their background story in the original game. As soon as I could find the game in a store, I bought it without a bit of thought. I wanted to learn what their story was and experience it through my own playthrough, instead of just based on what I had learned from the internet.
Finally played the original, and my love for the couple grew.
Kuki Prower - March 21, 2007 11:46 PM (GMT)
The original game, Cloud and Aerith were just my favourite characters. As I played the game, I could see them as a couple. Heart broken when she died, I thought Cloud would end up with Tifa as things would go, but it never showed. I got back into FF7 fandom when I heard of AC and then came across the Pink here, and my love for the couple grew even stronger, not also to mention the fantastic entries on Destiny Fufilled granted me the understand of why Cloud and Aerith were the true couple of FF7.
:cleris:
Seii Monogatari - March 22, 2007 12:11 AM (GMT)
Original game for me. I thought they were cute, and I wanted to know what was going to happen. Then she died, and it surprised me. I played the game after it had been out for a few years, and I didn't use a game guide or anything, so I had no idea she was gonna die. I thought the ending was beautiful, and it was just there for me. I didn't really see Tifa as too much of a contender, probably because I had played Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy VIII prior to VII. Both of those games had a childhood friend love interest whose affections were unrequitted (Leena and Quistis), so I didn't give it too much thought. Once she died, Cloud gave that speech and then with the ending, it seemed pretty clear to me. Like FFG, I was a little puzzled when I got on the net and everyone was arguing over it.
Amathala - March 22, 2007 01:07 AM (GMT)
Original game for me too. I played it about a year after it came out. My Uncle had bought it and didnt like the battle system, I got to play it at his house and I loved it, so I babysat for him in order to get it (I had been wildly into RPG's at the time, still love them the most).
As soon as I turned on the game for the first time, when Aerith's face came into view, I fell in love with her, she was so pretty and her green eyes just struck me. I couldn't wait to get more interaction with her, I think I was almost hoping that she would be the main character (I rarely get to see game commercials here, so I never saw anything on VII).
Anyway, just love them, from the first time they meet, until the end of the game when Cloud looks hopeful and reaches for the hand in the light...I guess I'm a sucker for those kinds of romances...
Inuyatta - March 22, 2007 02:19 AM (GMT)
Original game for me. I wasn't really digging Cloud's assholish behavior either, but I notice it went on significant hold when you meet the Flower girl, so that sealed it for me. :lmao:
Lynn - March 22, 2007 04:50 AM (GMT)
Original game too. I was a Sephiroth fangirl in the beginning, but there was an automatic acknowledgement of Cleris in the background because it just seemed so natural. Jackass!Cloud meets sweet!Aerith, they have fun, they have drama, there's a big ol' rescue...
I love tragedy, but it was the adorable scenario at the Wall Market that clinched it for me. They were both hilarious, playing off each other so well. It's like a weird little taste of what Cleris would be like if they didn't have Shinra and Sephiroth breathing down their backs (which we couldn't even get in KH thanks to the Heartless and good ol' Sephy, sigh).
I read the game booklet before playing the game, so I was aware of the "love triangle". Makes me wonder what I would've thought if I hadn't read the character bios. -_- But even with that, I identified Tifa with all those female characters who are put in mainly to create a LT. Her being this sexy voluptuous female fighter played into that stereotype. So I guess I didn't take her "challenge" seriously. It seemed like Squaresoft was making a LT for the sake of having one.
killedwithabustersword - March 22, 2007 09:50 AM (GMT)
the moment i saw the girl in pink at the intro of the game (even if it was my brother who played it first, and i was what? 4 or 5?). :hyper:
yin-chan - March 22, 2007 11:59 AM (GMT)
Wow, so many people from Original Game so far!
It was the original game for me too. My brother played it first - I watched and completely fell in love with Aerith's character. I wasn't too much of a Cloud fan, eh. But Aerith rocked my soxxors, and by the time my brother finished the game and I picked up the controller to play it myself, I was a full-blown Cleris, no going back.
I had no idea about the LTD back then, didn't even know it existed. Tifa was my least favourite character in the game, but I didn't even know a Tifa-Cloud thing existed until I came online. :ermm: So I wasn't spoilt by game booklets or anything about the LT, I just played it and assumed Aerith and Cloud were the main love interests from the way I watched them interact. Augh, the death scene. My first childhood videogame tragedy!
Hades' Daughter - March 22, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
It was the original game for me too. Well, I actually first got into Cleris when I saw them previewed in a gaming magazine prior to the game's release. The only characters I saw at the time were Cloud, Aerith, Barret, and Red XIII. They made it obvious Cloud and Aerith were the two main characters in the game and there was a shot of Cloud meeting up with Aerith in her church. I thought it was really cute. I have always seen the two as the intended pairing.
Anyhow, as soon as the game was released, I played it...and my love for Cleris completely grew. I noticed that Cloud was always more open around her compared to everyone else and his attitude softened up after he met her. I also loved the fact that their attitudes complimented one another so well. Although it was pretty clear Tifa was romantically interested in him, to me, his relationship with her was always more like caring old friends/family (since the two grew up in the same town). Cloud's line at the end and Tifa's reaction to it sealed the LT for me. Yeah, I was a little surprised some people had seen the game in a completely different light.

That's exactly how I felt too.
mallorn - March 22, 2007 03:03 PM (GMT)
Original game for me. What sealed it for me was the date scene, so sweet! :cleris:
Like most of you, I was surprised when I saw this big debate online about who Cloud really loved in FF7, being obvious to me who the hero and heroine were (and who was supposed to end up with whom). Tifa, for me, was the secondary character to Aeris, even way back then, the first time I played it.
Anti-R - March 22, 2007 03:54 PM (GMT)
Original game. PSX. Back when I was a freshman student.
Aerith was quite awesome, how many FF females would put the tough lead man to wear a dress? Yeah, I thought so.
And I'm amused how Cloud, for some strange reason, is so obsessed for trying to take care of her, with Aerith being slightly annoyed by said attention. It's... unusual for me. Most RPG girls treat the lead male as though he's their sole reason of existence (actually, it still is in today's RPGs, but I digress).
I am happy Aerith is in KH. It was nice to see her again in the land of the living.
Azumi - March 23, 2007 01:25 AM (GMT)
Original game.
It seemed really obvious with all of Clouds interaction with her, the dialogue gave it away. Honestly, I did see Tifa as a potential love interest before we officially meet Aerith (with Cloud having the option to giver her a flower and her fixing him a drink etc.), but once Aerith came into the scene I could really see the chemistry between her and Cloud and the idea of who the main couple of the game became clear in my mind.
It didn't surprise me that much that there was an LTD online between the three as much as it did surprise me how "passionate" the debate was. :lmao:
Their relationships are one of the things that make FFVII interesting, you don't see the heroine goading the "cool hero" to dress up as a woman in every other game now do you? The death/burial scenes only fueled my liking for the couple more, I like tragedies if they're done well, and the scene that really made me love the pairing and cement the idea that Cleris is canon without a doubt, was the hand reach scene in the ending FMV. The first thing he says after near death is, I think I can meet her there.
Anti-R - March 23, 2007 01:29 AM (GMT)
Yeah, that line also clinches it for me as well. Cloud's line of meeting/finding Aerith "there".
Schala - March 23, 2007 02:52 PM (GMT)
Original game. You know, at the beginning it never struck me that Cloud and Tifa were really going to be together (I guess it had something to do with the ambiguity of her relationship with Barret and Marlene :P ). Even though Tifa mentioned the memory at the well and it was clear that she had feelings for Cloud, the game had so many pro-cleris moments that I felt sure Aeris was the right girl for Cloud. I think I knew from the moment Cloud woke up to find Aeris looking down at him.
Pyra Kurai Akaidra - March 23, 2007 08:51 PM (GMT)
KH here for me.
I didn't remotely show interest in RPG games until FFX comes out here, that my sis and I decide to buy it when we saw FFX cameos on the back, plus on the back was a cool picture of a blonde swordsman...
Play the game, went crazy over Cloud's cool entrance (swoosh~!) and like Aerith in general.
Went to the 'Net, got confuse over the LTD ("Uhh...Who's Tifa?"), but gotten information from looking up and comparing them for accuracy, and decide to go for the girl in pink, even more so when I finally found the original game for less then $10. :cleris:
Lesley - March 24, 2007 07:37 AM (GMT)
My introduction to Cloud and Aerith was Kingdom Hearts.since then I've played KH2 and seen AC but never played the original game.
Wingless - March 31, 2007 09:14 PM (GMT)
Well, when I first encountered Final Fantasy VII, the only thing out was the original game, so obviously that has to be it for me. :P I wasn't sure at first where everything was going during the first couple of scenes of the game, but once Aerith got Cloud to cross dress, that sealed it for me. Not just any girl can get a guy to do that, if you know what I mean. And how embarrassed he was when he first came out in the dress in front of her; it was too cute to be believed. ^_^
After that, all the obvious reasons to like them came. Their chemistry was just something so unique; none of the other characters could bring out the sides of Cloud that Aerith could. I was especially touched by how often Cloud would make the extra effort to take care of her--emotionally as well as physically--even if she would sometimes remain enigmatic for personal reasons. He never once brushed her off or pushed her away, and that was incredible in a character who was originally so aloof. ^_^
*Omni-Slasher* - April 4, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
I originally liked Clorith since Final Fantasy VII. Seeing as I've never played Kingdom Hearts. My interest did grow for Clorith once I had saw Advent Children. But of course my interest in Final Fantasy VII grew in general. But yeah, the original is what started it for me.
CrimsonEyes1984 - April 6, 2007 02:37 AM (GMT)
Erm *blushes deep red* This is lame, but for me it was with Advent Children. I saw AC before I played the game...but that's not *quite* as backwards as it seems, for I got a full dose of the FFVII storyline, characters and their backgrounds, and most other things before and during the movie (thanks to LadyAerith :D). I also love her so much in KH, because while I know KH isn't canon to FFVII by any means, I enjoy seeing her alive more often :P
Resha - April 6, 2007 02:47 AM (GMT)
I loved them since the original game, although, I had been fond of the pairing CxT earlier in in the game (kill me if you want), and I really despise Cloud at that time too! The specific time I turned to be fandomizing CxA is Aerith died and Cloud broke down, and my Cloti bug turned into a Cleris one!!! :cleris:
Odango - April 6, 2007 06:06 PM (GMT)
The original game did it for me. As soon as i saw Aerith in the opening movie .. i liked her. And as soon as Cloud had crashed from the church roof.. i liked it. :)
Heavens Cloud - April 8, 2007 04:53 AM (GMT)
Definately the original game... I had never played any RPG's before my cousin talked me into trying out FFVII... I was very impressed, and also very interested in the relationship that was growing between Cloud and Aerith. I think what did it for me was when they finally went on a date together during the second trip to Gold Saucer, and also when Cait Sith read them their prediction on the future they had together... I also thought it was cute when, during the first time they went to the Gold Saucer, Aerith ran over to Cloud, grabbed his hand, and said, "Let's go!", or something along the lines of that... I admit, I kinda gushed over that lol! :P
might - April 9, 2007 06:56 AM (GMT)
ever since the original game...especially since my older brother lied to me telling me Cloud and Aerith were actually bf and gf and Sephiroth was Aerith's brother and killed her...of course when i finally played the game i was like "YOU JERK!!"But yeah since the original and I was so able to tell right away because it was so obvious and i fell in love with Aerith and me personally i do not go with love stories or even Aerith's type of personality but she and FF7 changed it for me and then in the ending when you read what Cloud tells Tifa and then you see Tifa like realizing it was hopeless for her...yeah. I am ranting...XD
Rikitty - April 29, 2007 02:31 AM (GMT)
The original game, Final Fantasy VII. I think I was 8 then, and my brother didn't like the game se he gave it to me, which I worshiped him for sence I begged for it for 6 months before he gave in. I hugged Zack (my brother) for hours after that) From the opening movie I knew she would be important, but I didn't really think of her and Cloud together untill he crashed threw the roof of the church, landing on Aerith's flowers (Which in my opinion softened the blow and saved him mortal injery or death).
NightingaleBeauty - April 30, 2007 07:12 PM (GMT)
I didn't know about Cloud and Aerith till KH that's when I got intrested and became a fan.
PureAerith - April 30, 2007 09:38 PM (GMT)
Since the original game for me!
It's a must for all cleris fans i think. It would be so cool to play a revisited version of the game, since it's it 10th anniversary this year... I think i would fall in love with our lovely couple all over again!
What do you think guys? :aeris:
Ultima Star - May 7, 2007 09:12 PM (GMT)
Well I started to like Cleris since the beggining of the game. I didn't like..that-other-woman since the first I saw her she just..annoyed me and I hate her. But with Aeris she was the perfect one, the one that really loves Cloud the one that is always with him and by his side
JackNight - May 7, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
I started liking Cleris from the credits in Kingdom Hearts, actually. It was on of the minis scene in the credits. I found a pic like it:

Aeris Gainsborough-Strife - June 4, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
The original game for me. it just seemed so natural, i like spellcasters so i always had Aerith in my party so i saw the character development between Cloud and Aerith even more. it was Clouds response to Aeriths death that sealed the deal for me. he was just so emotional. and after that Cloud wasn't as Close to any of the other characters as he was to Aerith, and the game just lost its happy mood. which is why disk 1 is my favorite, it has all the loveable Clerith moments :cleris:
xx-Forever-Aerith-xx - June 11, 2007 11:36 PM (GMT)
Original Game for me i was like 11 or 12 when i first played that game
in my oppinion i knew from the begining that they were the couple (i played FF8 first and SquallxRinoa reminded me of them) so thats why :D
xx
Raine - June 12, 2007 08:47 AM (GMT)
Oh dear. I was a Clerith even before I played the actual game. I played Kingdom Hearts before I played FF, so that's how I was introduced to them. I started looking up KH stuff on the internet, and that made me remember a screenshot of the burial screen in FF7 I had seen when I was younger, and I just... knew that Cloud and Aerith were meant to be together. And within 3 hours of playing FF7 it was basically teh OTP. :fangirl:
