Title: Ffxii Revenant Wings

Anti-R - February 22, 2007 10:25 AM (GMT)
It's for the DS, and most likely I won't play it. T.T

Sequel of FFXII, we follow sky pirates Vaan and Penelo one year after the original game.

Confirmed Playable characters:

Vaan
Penelo
Balthier
Fran
Kytes
Filo
Tomaj

And look! Shiva and her family! 0.o;

ZOMG. I'd get that game for Shiva alone. I LOVE that scan of her. Summons have families now... *Thinks of Ifrit getting whipped by his wife*

Azumi - February 22, 2007 05:59 PM (GMT)
Wow, I wasn't even that interested in this game, but Shiva and her family. . . (even if it's really weird). I hope Ashe is in it, she's my favorite character in FFXII.

Agreed. ^_^

I wasn't interested either because Vaan and Penelo are the most boring characters in FFXII to me. I'd much prefer a game all about Balthier and Fran. ^_^

DS FF games are really awesome so far.

Anti-R - February 22, 2007 07:21 PM (GMT)
Agreed. The Baby Shiva is SOOOO cute. *wants to adopt*

Poor baby Ifrit, subjected to witness such domestic violence.

Yeah, heard about FFIII. Yoshida is oddly popular now.

Man, I want a DS. T.T

Azumi - February 23, 2007 05:38 AM (GMT)
Their names are Shiva, Baby Shiva and Darlin/Darling Shiva. . .

*brain explodes*

I can't tell if that's supposed to be weird or cute :lmao:

I need a DS too.

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - February 24, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
*just read the Shiva family's names*Shiva...Baby Shiva...Darling Shiva!? :lmao:

Not sure about getting the game but the Shiva family is cool! Pun partially intended.

¤lonewolf¤ - February 25, 2007 12:10 AM (GMT)
So, is this hitting the West?
 @ Shiva family

Seii Monogatari - February 25, 2007 02:45 AM (GMT)
I think the bit about the summon families and Balthier & Fran is cool, but the trailer was kinda iffy for me. I know people don't like Penelo LIEKWOAH! around here, but I at least saw her as having some kind of cheerful personality, and she just seems like a waify damsel in the trailer. Bugged the heck out of me, but Balthier & Fran = win-ness.

Edge - February 25, 2007 03:03 AM (GMT)
I can't wait 'till Revenant Wings, Vaan and Penelo & Balthier and Fran are my favorites from FFXII. It'll be nice seeing Vaan and Penelo take the lead this time instead of being pushed into the back.

They look like clay...

QUOTE
- Vaan is going to be the only protagonist, not like it was in FF XII, where he was only involved in the story of Ashe
- The logo wasn't designed by Amano, but Kamikokuryou
- You can fly an airship by the very beginning of the game
- The story goes deeper into Vaans relationship with Penelo
- Penelo becomes more feminin than in FF XII
- More light on charas that only made short appearance in FF XII

And the prologue from the press release:

An age when magic was commonplace and airships plied the skies... “Purvama, the floating lands. In the border-skies they wait. Untrodden, unknown.” So the legend went. And the children who heard it turned their eyes to the sky, and dreamed. There, above, an all but forgotten land—demesne of the winged ones. The Cache of Glabados is the key, throwing wide the doors of fading memory.

Zelda - February 25, 2007 07:11 AM (GMT)
I liked Vaan a lot, and Penelo grew on me even though sometimes I still wonder why she's there. Aside from giving Vaan someone to talk to.

Why does she look so anorexic in this game? It kills me...

QUOTE

T___________T I'm going to punch Nomura in his face. I liked her round face. She was adorable.

Kaldea - February 25, 2007 08:06 AM (GMT)
If she turns into another Rikku, I am going to stab someone.

I can be indifferent about her with the way she is in FFXII, but if she becomes like that...HORRID SOUNDING THING IN FFX-2...I will not buy the game. If I want girliness, I'll go stand by the DDR machines at the arcade.

^_^

Anti-R - February 25, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
What I wanted to know is how Ashe and Basch are gonna get involved in this story. 0.o;

Uh...

I'm pretty sure Nomura had nothing to do with FFXII, and has nothing to do with this one either. Give the guy a break? Jeez. He gets too much attention, whether it be good or bad. :lmao:

And Penelo wasn't just there for Vaan to talk to. They're childhood friends and he lived with her family for quite some time, so they're pretty close. They just didn't get as much exposition as the other characters, like Ashe and such.

Rofl. Because short clothes = sluttiness. Penelo is automatically slutty now.

Zelda - February 25, 2007 06:18 PM (GMT)
I owe Nomura several punches in the face for various things, and I simply blame him for everything now. Especially that night I left the curling iron on. I hate you, Nomura.

You missed the point. I'm talking more in terms of plot. Not that I don't love the girl, but honestly. Vaan hardly needed to be in the game either. Their characters weren't given as much attention as everyone else, more like shoved into the background until a plot device was needed.

And the two of them being close really has nothing to do with her uselfulness in the actual game. If you were going for that route, you could have mentioned her reltationship with Larsa?

:lmao:

Yes, short clothes MUST mean slutty when I dislike sluts and don't identify with them at all. Especially since I HATE Tifa and I NEVER make graphics of her. I wonder where Penelo = slut came in when all that was talked about here was girliness?

I don't think anyone here talked about not liking any of the characters due to how they looked. It's all about their importance to the plot, or lack thereof. I personally think the game itself would have been better off without Vaan or Penelo. There was just nothing there for me. I think Square understands that since they are making a new game that explores their story, so they know they're making it better for Vaan and Penelo by giving them more importance. I personally like Penelo's new outfit better on her because I'm a sucker for pretty hair, but storywise, I don't see them more than fillers for FFXII.

I wouldn't be surprised if they added a little love story between them though. I wouldn't mind that at all because FFXII was the best game in the series with how they left out the useless love triangles and kept to the priorities of the characters. It would be best if they stuck to the DS game if they wanted to add a love story. Though it would be a nice surprise if they kept love out of that game too.

OPINIONS! OH NOES!

Seii Monogatari - February 26, 2007 02:41 AM (GMT)
That was one of the things I really liked about that game, there wasn't a lot of focus on love. I mean, Ashe lost Rasler, but that was before the game really started. There wasn't a cliche love between the main hero and heroine that got shoved down your throat and there was a lot of freedom to pair up anyone with whoever you wanted. There were scenes that could've hinted at Vaan/Ashe, Vaan/Penelo, Larsa/Penelo, Balthier/Penelo, Basch/Ashe, etc. Of course, Rasler/Ashe was pretty much a given, and SkyPirate/BunnyWarrior was also a given, but there was still room to move around. I don't want that to change! ><''

Zelda - February 26, 2007 03:41 AM (GMT)
Seconded, Seii. I like it better when you aren't force fed a pairing. I like it when there's just hints, but still room for other pairings if you like the interaction between two other characters.

Sefie - February 26, 2007 04:53 AM (GMT)
I'm happy that Vaan and Penelo are getting more attention, but I'm a little...hesitant for some reason. I actually liked their personalities in FFXII, so I dunno why I'm against a game about them! Maybe cuz I like VaanxAshe?

Agreed on that. Shame she doesn't keep the colored tatooes. But Penelo was a lot prettier in that outfit (bleh on that brown with the weird back blades and the embossed crotch, she was supposed to be the "genki girl").

And trimmed Basch in Judge armor = droolness.

Implications are nice and all, and Larsa's a pretty good catch as well. Don't break his innocent heart, Penelo. T.T

Well, I don't guess I'll ever play this unless they remake it for the PlayStation, like they did with KH:CoM. :pout:

Well, I did say that the other characters got more attention in terms of plot. That doesn't mean that Vaan and Penelo automatically suck. That's what RW is for, to flesh out their characters.

Lolololl. I wasn't referring to Tifa. I was talking about the X-2 girls.

You said this. I was assuming that you meant to compare her to the "slutty" X-2 girls because her clothes got shorter or something, just like Yuna had less clothes in X-2. I didn't think the X-2 girls were all that slutty just because they had less clothes on. They sure didn't act like it.

It's a direct sequal. Why would it be a filler?

It's kinda obvious that they like eachother anyway. I'm a sucker for them and Balthier/Fran. Ashe/Basch would be cute too... The princess and her loyal knight.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe Kaldea actually mentioned the word "slut" or "clothes". She did mention Rikku's voice, though, and her hyper girly behavior. I think what Kaldea doesn't like about Rikku is how she acts and sounds. To some people, Rikku's squealing, screeching hyperactivity is annoying. She and Yuna reminded me a little of valley girls in FFX-2. It was a bit annoying to me, too.

That's what I've been waiting for! Larsa at long last! Thanks a lot Anti. Although, I've been doing a lot looking into the Ivalice Alliance and I actually only want Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War.

Aerith_kun - March 23, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
Thank you for the pics, Anti-R ^^

They have even released a new trailer with Basch,Ashe and Larsa....

http://www.square-enix.co.jp/ff12rw/

There is a lot of interaction between Basch and Ashe! :woot:

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - March 23, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
While I'm happy about Ashe, Basch and Larsa's appearance, don't get me wrong, but the FFTA character designs (the Soldier, White Mage, Gladiator, Nu Mou Sage, etc) made me squeal. Gives me a sense of nostalgia from seeing familiar designs and the fact that they'll be in the game is great.

To Carbuncle and White-Rabbit (Shirousagi): OMFG! They're so cute! Seems like they're basing an Esper on the wild rabbits, like the one in Giza Plains.

To Leviathen: Leviathen! Nice seeing him again! Neat design for the game.
