Title: I Have Been Thinking...
Description: theory about Sephiroth and Aerith
LadyNelZelpher - February 15, 2007 04:24 AM (GMT)
I've been thinking a lot lately (believe it or not XD) about Sephiroth and Aerith and I realised..
During the birth of Sephiroth, Lucrecia, Hojo and Gast all were part of the experiment. At some point, professor Gast left to be with Ilfana, but he was there at the beggining of it.
I don't think it's ever said if the father of Lucrecia's son is Gast or Hojo..
What I'm trying to say is..
Do you think Sephiroth and Aerith could be brother and sister?!
It would explain the similar bangs in their hair :lmao:
What are your thoughts on this?
Angelalex242 - February 15, 2007 06:29 AM (GMT)
No, Hojo flat out says Sephiroth is my son.
And Hojo, being a genetics guy, would know if Sephiroth were not.
Still, it explains where Sephiroth got his CRAAAAAAAAAAAZY, doesn't it? Being descended from a guy who wants to breed poor innocent Cetra to liondogs has got to mess someone's head up.
Sternenstaub - February 15, 2007 09:24 AM (GMT)
I think there was some RUMOR going on about SE having planed to make Aeris and Sephiroth related earlier in the games development.
In the game they are clearly not, like Angelalex242 said... But it thought it to be cute and it would still explain why some similarities (bangs and all...) remain.
If I'm totaly wrong just hit me over the head...

Thank you guys! I'm a bit disapointed though, I wish this could have been true..
But still, couldn't Hojo call him his soon because he was also a part of the project? He ALSO created him.

Actually, I could see Gast doing that more than Hojo.
Hojo's such an extreme scientist that, if there were no blood relations between them, I think he would view Sephiroth as nothing more than an experiment, something beneath him, sub-human. Calling him his "son" would be an insult to Hojo.
Case in point: He obviously considers Aerith non-human, if he was willing to breed her with Red.

I know this is a joke (well, party? XD), but is it possible to inherit quirky hairstyles from your parents? Just wondering.

I think that's from the FFVII Ultimania Omega, one of the early ideas that SE later discarded.
Angelalex242 - February 15, 2007 12:53 PM (GMT)
Can you imagine what growing up for Sephiroth must've been like?
Sephiroth:Look, daddy, I killed the dragon!
Hojo:That was my precious experiment! You're GROUNDED!
Sephiroth:Awww...
Clorith88 - February 15, 2007 02:09 PM (GMT)
well it is tru that Hojo says that Sephiroth is his son but i think it would b kl is Sephiroth and Aerith were 1/2 brother and sister
Hojo could b wrong not knowing, eh? oO
:P *sigh* the imagination grows...

AC Ultimania and DoC confirmed that Sephiroth is the son of Hojo and Lucrecia.
As for the bangs and the green eyes, there were prototype stories for Sephiroth and Aerith (one is the siblings thing, another that they were an item and Sephiroth would buy flowers from her) which was later dropped. I guess in the end they ended up as parallelism of each other in the game and in the movie.

Yep, yep. :D I am happy with the way S-E ended up doing things. Having a brother kill his sister or a someone kill their love-interest... yeah, that's messed up. :ermm: I much prefer how Sephiroth and Aerith are shown as polar opposites (darkness vs. light/ corruption vs. purity/ evil vs. good). Just one more reason why Aerith is and always will be Cloud's light. :cleris:

Yes, I like that theory more :cleris:
Thank you all for answering my question!

What do you mean by "another that they were an item and Sephiroth would buy flowers from her"? I'm sorry, english is not my first language so I get confused some times..

Similar to how Zack and Aerith are in the game, originally Sephiroth was in Zack's role and he would be the one she was romantically attracted to in the past. Although they weren't boyfriend and girlfriend like Zack and Aerith, it was an unrequited love Aerith had for Sephiroth, who would buy flowers from her when he saw her.
Anti-R - February 17, 2007 12:26 AM (GMT)
Hey, that's interesting, thanks wilhelm.
Though it's just plain creepy IMHO, if it does went from there in the game, no offense to Aerith/Sephiroth shippers.
Though I can't say it's unfounded in the first place.

Oh. I'm really glad that didn't make it into the game. I'm bothered enough by the master-slave domination thing I see in Cleris fics :ermm:

... :lmao: Once again, Alex, I'm asking you to let me sig-quote something you said!
...Can I ask where some fans got the idea that VINCENT is Sephiroth's dad??? I don't know where I picked it up; somewhere between fanfics and weird fan theories

Well Vincent had a violent reaction when Hojo revealed he was the father back in FFVII. In Dirge, we never get to see how Vincent reacted on Sephiroth, as he was already in a tube when Lucrecia gave birth to the kid.
Then again, some fans actually were shallow to think an ugly guy like Hojo couldn't possibly produce such a bishie. Genetics doesn't work that way, as it was obvious that Sephiroth got his good looks exclusively from his mom + Jenova cells.
I mean look at Vincent's dad. He certainly isn't much of a looker either. -_-
BusterBlader - February 21, 2007 03:05 AM (GMT)
*hack, hack, cough* I'm glad that Sephiroth and Aeris aren't related. Why would anyone want to be a relative of a complete PSHYCO?!! I sure wouldn't. Besides, Sephiroth had a pshyco father anyway! I think that Vincent showed some concern about Dr. Crescent using her child for experiments. Don't you think that Dr. Crescent had some thought in the back of her head saying, "This doesn't feel right, maybe you should listen to Vincent."? I'm sure that after Dr. Crescent had that vision of Sephiroth, she was thinking that she should've listened to Vincent. Why would Dr. Crescent apoligize to Vincent or through Shelke help Vincent beat Deepground?

I dunno, I think it would have been nifty and an odd twist if Sephiroth and Aeris were related. I kind of like the sheer screwed-upness of that. XD

Weird, because when I first played and Aeris mentioned she used to date a first class Soldier, I assumed it was Sephiroth.

I wonder if that was the same early draft that had Aeris as Cloud's childhood freind instead of Tifa. That certainly would have changed the dynamics between the three of them.

LOL funny enough, the equivalent of Vincent's "violent" reaction was, "!!" XD Cracks me up every time, I mean...you would have hoped that he'd yell SOMETHING out there, but no, all we get is a "!!". Geez Vinneh! Stand up for your woman :tard:
