Title: Favourite C/a Fanfics?
Description: The stories that rock your world!
Hyper-Ballad - January 23, 2005 04:37 PM (GMT)
I was just wondering, if you could pick a favourite Cloud/Aeris fanfic, one that you love reading and would recommend to any C/A fan...which would it be? Does anyone have a favourite fanfic out there, one that deserves to be plugged? Praise your favourite authors/stories here! :D
I better start off...a longstanding favourite C/A fic of mine is "Her Song", by Amabassador L. Garnet Alexander -
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1483856/1/I feel it's a bit of an odd choice because it's short, rather simple, and it isn't overtly romantic - Cloud isn't declaring undying love for Aeris and he isn't wallowing in angst. He's just remembering her and missing her. But despite not being that romantic, it's one of the most poignant pieces of fanfiction I've read. I love it because of how human it makes the characters, steering clear of making Cloud and Aeris into cardboard cut-outs. There's a lot of thought and insight in it, and for a short 'fic it has a lot of emotion. It's funny, sweet and sad. And that's my two cents. :P
Anyone else got a C/A fanfic too good not to rave about? Recommend it, review it and share the love!

Well, i like almost all cleris fics, but the ones that i have really enjoyed are few.
This is one of them, maybe my favorite:
SUNSET, SUNRISE by Aeris Love Gainsborough
Read it, and rate it :D
BTW, i have a huge collection of cxa fics, ill post them later...
Yukari - January 23, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
It's tough for me to pick a favourite, because there are some really good fics out there, it's just really difficult to find them at places like FF.net ;) But I'd have to pick
Ophelia, by Brinson. It's not exactly a Cloud x Aerith fic, but it's so touching that I'm sure we can overlook that. Ophelia is an Aerith introspective during her death, beautifully written. I can't really express how amazing this fic is, all I can do is tell everyone and their chocobo to read it!
I've never read 'Her Song' before, so I'm glad you linked it, because that fic really is something. I loved the non-perfect Aerith, I think too many fanfics have her either fluffy-sweet-pure-wouldn't-say-boo-to-a-goose or bitch from hell who tries to get inbetween Cloud and Tifa's blossoming relationship (Through Tifa's Eyes, anyone?), so to have her driving like a madwoman and bashing pickpockets was great. :D
Hyper-Ballad - January 23, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
Thank you for the link! That was such a powerful and haunting read, Madame Batolli - thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I felt touched and affected by this fanfic too, and the author's writing-style is lovely. I loved the sense of atmosphere throughout it, too. I thought it was beautiful.
I agree - the non-perfect characterization of Aeris in "Her Song" is one of the things I liked the most about it. A lot of pro-Aeris 'fics write her as either an ideal angel or a sugary-sweet airhead, but this portrayed her as much more human, like she was in the game. And I could easily see her driving like a madwoman, too.

I have the same problem when I'm looking for a Cloud/Aeris fix - the best place to find fanfics is FF.Net but to find fics with any quality is another story... Standout reads are very hard to find these days. I guess that's mostly what this thread is for - pointing out the diamonds in the rough! Whenever we're lucky enough to find them, that is. ;)
Another 'fic that I think is higher than the usual standard on FF.Net is "The Ghost in the Church" by Alan Bates:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1149107/1/It's very different from anything you'd normally find about Aeris, I think, and for such a short piece I found it surprisingly powerful and heartbreaking.
Another fantastic (and much happier) C/A story is Lirillith's "To Meet You":
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/534150/1/There's no end to how much I love this 'fic. Spot-on characterization, lovely writing, an original approach to something done hundreds of times, laughs, tenderness, and a lovely C/A moment.

Oh I LOVE that fic as well, I was going to post it up but you beat me to it. :P

I've read all the fics with the links provided already. They're all awesome! And Ophelia was one of my previous favorites as well!
I wrote a different kind of CxA fic a long time ago when I first got online. I was kinda obsessed with Ane Rice's Vampire Chronicles at the time and so I wrote a chapter fic of Aeris and Cloud in a time of vampires, castles, princesses, etc. And I think I posted it on FF.net too. But just saying this because there are tons of different kinds of Cloud/Aeris fics online. The problem is finding them all.
Daga15 - January 27, 2005 11:54 PM (GMT)
my favorite one is a princess strife :D :
aeris is a princess cetra who lives in the city of the ancients, she is going to marry whith her byofriend, zack..but one day she will meet another man..cloud strife... :D
http://www.fortunecity.com/rivendell/stone...26/strife1.htmlim sure you will love it!!
( another fanfic is " ilusions.." i cried when i read this story...its about cloud thinking he is with aeris and the it was all a dream...very sad..."
Hyper-Ballad - January 29, 2005 09:36 PM (GMT)
I remember these! I haven't read them in ages, though...
I thought "A Princess' Strife" was fantastic, and I loved "Illusions". It was one of the first pieces of fanfiction I ever read, and I came really close to crying!
I'll have to re-read them sometime...

What an interesting idea! Is it still posted online somewhere? If so, could you please point me in the right direction?

I don't really have any favorites. Too hard to pick
I do kind of like this fic.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1070409/1/Different Yet the Same. It's actually a fic that takes place in Final Fantasy Tactics. It's in Cloud's point of view, at the beginning he talks about the Final Fantasy VII version of Aeris. Near the end, Cloud talks about what happened to him in Ivalice. The ending well... I'll let you read and find out. ;)
If I see anymore I like. I'll post.
Personally I'm planning to make a few one-shot songfics and I'm working on an AU story.
Toxo - February 6, 2005 02:24 PM (GMT)
My favourite fic is
The Great Tournament. ^_^
It's VERY long, but it's full of adventure, romance and all what I have ever wanted in C/A fics! :D
Cloud Gainsborough - February 7, 2005 02:52 AM (GMT)
Screw the link, it's at fanfiction.net, but I like "Love and it's imperfection" (is that what it's called?) by our very own Tifa Lockheart (AKA generalquistis)
She really did a good job with this one, [i]I[/] was almost moved to tears by it. It's even better written (and a LOT less horrifying) than her other fic, 'Breathing'.
Anyone with a weak mind/stomach, stay away from 'Breathing' and read the other one...
Excelion - February 7, 2005 05:29 AM (GMT)
This is definatly one of my favs:
Looking For Your LightI just wish Strife711 would come back. I miss his(hers?) updates.
Does anybody know where Strife went?
Carmencita - February 13, 2005 02:04 PM (GMT)
Oh, wow. I am gonna be readin' a lotta stuff. Hee hee. ;)
This isn't exactly a 'fic'... more like a "fan-poem".
Aerith by Riquisel Yutifae
Peach-ie Mint - February 27, 2005 05:11 AM (GMT)
well... this is a hard choice, considering ive read so many. mai top favorite clerith ficcie would have to be:
volition by eiji
originally, this had over 30 chapters posted on the temple of aeris and sephiroth, but now the site is in complete overhaul and the ficcies are inaccessible. ive been trying to contact celyne but her email doesn't seem to be working. i just remember this was the ficcie dat got me into the whole clerith relationship.
in loving memories of eiji, who died before being able to finish his story, i hope u r in a better place

Oh that's so sad. :(
It's really sad when you find out that a talented person dies. Maybe I'll read it when I get the chance.

Well, i finally found a quality Clorith fic while roaming fanfiction.net
Magnus Evangeliumby Shikhee
Beautiful, isn't it! I love the way the author handled Cloud's emotions! And the way she handled the words made it a pleasure to read. Too many Clorith fics out there use the typical angst fest formula.
Hyper-Ballad - March 10, 2005 03:16 PM (GMT)
Oh, I liked this! Very well-written! ^_^
Yukari - May 9, 2005 09:59 PM (GMT)
While searching for a certain fic, I found
Transcendent by Lachesis Fatali. It's gorgeously written and I just fell in love with it, so I had to share it with everyone.
By the way, the fic I was searching for was 'Illusions'. Does anyone have a link handy? I can't find it...
Hyper-Ballad - May 9, 2005 10:07 PM (GMT)
I think
this might be it, Madame. Happy reading! ^_^
I'll take a look at the 'fic you recommended ASAP! :cleris:
Kusari Yarou - May 9, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
Oh darn it. The link to Magnus Evangelium isn't working anymore
Ah well. I'll go check Transcendent and Illusions out...
Clorith - May 10, 2005 02:24 AM (GMT)
I want to read Magnus Evangelium.
