Cloud x Aerith > Final Fantasy VII > Heh

Title: Heh
Description: Line up...

Angelalex242 - January 31, 2007 05:37 AM (GMT)
I just started a new game of FF7 today. Yeah, the old game. Astonishing how bad the graphics are. FF6 and FF4 seem easier on the eyes then 7 does. Oh well...

The point is...I'm wandering through this game, and Cloud...has been taken over by Alex!

The trouble is...who's going to volunteer to be the flowergirl?

LadyAerith - January 31, 2007 05:46 AM (GMT)
=O I'll be the flowergirl ^__^ if that's okay

Anti-R - January 31, 2007 05:48 AM (GMT)
Hm... a poll would be nice. Though who do you want to be Aerith?

Oh, can I be Yuffie? :D

Kaldea - January 31, 2007 05:58 AM (GMT)
Pssh.

I'll take Tifa den. If she isn't already.

yin-chan - January 31, 2007 07:19 AM (GMT)
*ish tempted to volunteer as Mukki*

What?? He gets to be with nekkid!Cloud in a steam bath!

Sefie - February 1, 2007 01:49 AM (GMT)
Drat! Aeris is taken!
I'll be Elena!

Angelalex242 - February 1, 2007 02:38 AM (GMT)
Lady Aerith seems to have claimed my heart first.
Out of respect for Kaldea, guess I'll have to prove a bunch of CloTis right about the Highwind scene... ;)
Anti-R wisely chose Yuffie because Yuffie's the only one to smooch Cloud on the date.
Sefie has proven that even the TURKs like Cloud...
Yin-chan is disturbing poor me with Yaoi

Ah, but now for the second part of the game.

Guess who I would pick for my flowergirl? ;)

:o

Pick me as Sephiroth, Alex!
Hanging with Cloud in a steam bath sounds hawt 'n all, but we all know nothing beats Cloud's devotion and obsession. You 'n I are doomed to be lurvers for all time and across parallel dimensions, yus.

Let's show ze world how true our wuv is with some romantic beatingz, k?

HD, have you never heard my wisest of all wise sayings?

"One does not let the love of one's life anywhere near insane homicidal psychopaths."

But now I've got TWO yaoi fiends after me! HEEEEEEELP!

Eh? Aerith isn't an insane homicidal psychopath, dude...

So Alex might reject Sephiroth, but we all know Cloud would never do such a horrible thing. The two are clearly obsessed with one another. You're just in denial, yep.

Just curious...but do you guys think this thread belongs elsewhere? Maybe it was meant to be something more serious in the first place, but clearly, we you guys have turned it into something of a spam thread, so...

Angelalex242 - February 1, 2007 08:51 PM (GMT)
It's admittedly a little spammy right now, but I've also been combing the game with a fine tooth comb. I might have serious observations later.

In the meantime, I've created this just for you, HD.

 :cloud: :battle: :sephy:

May all your Yaoi impulses be satisfied.

Damn straight. Plus they're both actually conscious.

*smooches Alex*

Angelalex242 - February 2, 2007 11:45 PM (GMT)
Mmmm...

So, the first interesting thing I've noted is something Barret finds comment worthy.

"So, even you fight for other people sometimes...I'm impressed."

Further, he fights for 'free'. Sure, she promised him a date, but...neither Tifa's promise nor Barret's money could get him to stay with Avalanche. In fact, he was probably ready to go after Aerith alone if Barret and Tifa didn't go with him. All without a hint of payment, unless you count the date.

Anti-R - February 3, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)
Yeah. Aerith's contract was that Cloud just take her back to her house. Saving her from a building containing soldiers, monsters, mad scientists and Turks is Cloud's initiative. He couldn't possibly be doing this to repay her help with Marlene, because it was Tifa who asked.

Angelalex242 - February 3, 2007 09:26 AM (GMT)
Two more observations. Boy, does Tifa get jealous when Aerith mentions the payment as a date in the ShinRa jail cells. Also, it is interesting to note one can build infinite Tifa affection points in the jail cell. Forget the Highwind, that jail cell's where it's at.

Secondly, it is interesting to note it is Aerith who decides to make Cloud leader. Given Cloud's normally fragile male ego, that must've been quite a boost to see a pretty girl demanding he be in charge. Over the objections of someone with a gunarm, no less.

What do you mean, Alex?

And Tifa's interruption in that jail cell both annoys and amuses me-- the former because it was just plain rude, but the latter because it just increases the likelihood that Cloud and Aerith were almost flirting with each other through that wall. Would Tifa have reacted that way had they just been talking casually? :P

I recall he actually walked away without even saying anything, while Tifa and Barret were staring at the wreck that was Sector 7. It was the two who'd insisted on coming along.

Angelalex242 - February 3, 2007 10:43 AM (GMT)
Dating mechanics.

You get +1 Tifa every time you talk to her and say 'leave it to me.' You can do this indefinitely if you're so inclined.

You can get infinite Yuffie points too, if you remember to have her run away in the forest several times.

And yes, you're right. Cloud walks off by himself. They had their own reasons for following...but he walked off alone.

It's also notable the girls are eerily similar just outside of Midgar.

If you talk to Aerith, she'll say "It's a little scary, but I've got my bodyguard, right?"
Tifa says, "Well, as long as you keep your promise I'll be okay."

Tifa must put a lot of faith in something she only wants if 'he gets really famous.'

Also...did you ever notice Sephiroth's stats?

3264 HP (-15%, actually 3753)
529 MP (+15%, actually 449)

Str 78 (-7 from materia, actually 85)
Dex 65
Vit 121 (71) (-1 from materia, actually 72)
Mag 75 (+7 from materia, actually 68)
Spr 121 (71) (+1 from materia, actually 70)
Luk 46

Attack 177
Attack %255
Defense 167
Defense % 20
Mag Def 121
Mag Def % 0

That's with Materia equipped too. He's got Fire, Ice, Lightning, Quake, Restore, and Life.

Anti-R - February 4, 2007 01:35 AM (GMT)
I remember I was angry I couldn't use Sephiroth's materia. ^^;

And am surprised how fast Cloud reached his level by the time everyone climbed the Northern Crater in disk 2.

Angelalex242 - February 8, 2007 12:20 AM (GMT)
Ya know....it doesn't affect the date scene, sadly, but did you know there's actually a scene in costa del sol where Aerith asks Cloud 'what do you think of me?'

His choice are 'I dunno' and 'Nothing much.'

I chose the former option, and was rewarded with a conversation about how Aerith doesn't even know how she feels about herself. You get this conversation after talking with Hojo. Aerith'll be lying down on the bed in the inn, but only if she's not in your party.

LadyAerith - February 8, 2007 12:40 AM (GMT)
Oh wow! I had no idea she asks him that! I need to go through and play the game again. You've got me all inspired and wanting to now, Alex :P Poor Aerith. I can just imagine how she feels, constantly being chased after by Hojo, labeled a specimen, being the only one of her kind left on the planet. I just wish Aerith had...opened up a bit more about her feelings, especially in the scene at Cosmo Canyon, but yeah enough of my babbling xD

I make it a point to bring Red XIII and Yuffie when I fought Jenova in that ship, I kind of liked the idea of Arith and Tifa running off together to enjoy the scenery before running into Hojo.

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - February 10, 2007 09:19 PM (GMT)
Is it too much to ask to be Cid or Cait Sith?

And maybe I'll try a different party for the JENOVA battle on the ship, too...

Angelalex242 - February 13, 2007 04:34 AM (GMT)
Cloud's stats with no materia equipped at level 50, just to compare the poor guy to Sephiroth.

HP:3741 (Virtually the same as Seph, within a margin of error)
MP:454 (Virtually the same as Seph, within a margin of error)

Str 75 (10 lower then Seph)
Dex 45 (20 lower then Seph)
Vit 68 (4 lower then Seph)
Mag 83 (15 /higher/ then Seph)
Spr 69 (1 lower then Seph)
Luck 24 (22 lower then Seph)

It appears, then, that Cloud is an imperfect Sephy clone that somehow is a better mage then the original, but worse or tied at everything else.

MistaCloudStrife - February 13, 2007 09:05 AM (GMT)
Well you have to also take into consideration the materia equipped to sephiroth. His hp would be lowered and mp raised. Strength gone down and magic gone up.

Angelalex242 - February 13, 2007 09:27 AM (GMT)
I did. Look at my initial math. I know my numbers.

Anti-R - February 13, 2007 02:25 PM (GMT)
BTW, how does Masamune compare with, say Ultima Weapon (though the way the Compilation was heading, said weapon does not exist)?

Tacofoolio - February 13, 2007 06:48 PM (GMT)
All a lot of good points I've seen, and it's nice to remember the game bit by bit as you mention parts, it makes me want to play the whole game again. Recently my husband and I replayed the last fight with Sephiroth, so we saw the ending again. I swear, it was just exploding with Cleris to me. But I'd really like to replay the whole thing again, now that I know more and will notice more. ^_^

Aw, I was going to be Cait Sith. Well, in that case, I would like to be Rude.

Angelalex242 - February 14, 2007 11:48 AM (GMT)
Considering how badass Vincent is in AC and DoC, he doesn't start out that good in FF7.

Hp 3270
MP 440

Str 59

HP 3337
MP 409

Str 65
Dex 55
Vit 59
Mag 75
Spirit 62

AVG 56.833

Yuffie's pretty balanced.

It shall be noted that (other then Cloud)

The strongest is Nanaki
The quickest is Nanaki
The toughest is Barret
The most magical is Aerith
The most spirited is Aerith
The Luckiest is Tifa

By law of averages:

Vincent:55.66
Cait:55

Clearly, the most useful people overall are Nanaki and Aerith.

Anti-R - February 14, 2007 03:34 PM (GMT)
How about Yuffie, Red, Cait and Barret?

Kaldea - February 15, 2007 02:13 AM (GMT)
Hahaha, Tifa gets lucky. :fish:

Angelalex242 - February 15, 2007 06:30 AM (GMT)
So the CloTis keep telling us. ;)

Pyra Kurai Akaidra - February 15, 2007 06:39 AM (GMT)
Heh, lucky indeed. But what kind of luck...?

Me: Why would he prefer Yuffie over Tifa?
(Graduated) F.Senior: He'll suffocate with Tifa.
M.Senior: *shudders*

Eh, nice time for a flashback.

Angelalex242 - February 15, 2007 08:50 AM (GMT)
So, I was watching the date...

People always talk about the lines in the Gondola, but people talk about the play much less.

When you click the 'kiss princess' option, Cloud doesn't take Aerith in his arms and make out with her. No no no. He kneels before her as if proposing, takes her hand, and kisses the back of it. Very romantic for a guy who's never been on a real date. "If you click the 'no, not a real one' option, Aerith goes "Just a mixed up kid." It's even more amusing she basically pushes him through the door. Which is just funny.
