Title: Superbowl
aerisbolt - January 28, 2007 05:36 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone! For those who are familiar with me know I am a huge football and hockey fan so therefore I figured I had to comment on the upcoming Superbowl between the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts.
This is the first year since the Bucs went that I have been extremely excited about the game. A great defense vs. a great offense. Two African American coaches playing for the title for the first time in history (even though I agree with many people who say they hope one day this wouldn't even have to be mentioned and color wouldn't matter anymore) but until that time it is great for those two men, who are both classy people.
There have been a lot of off the field drama on the Colts side, such as Tony Dungy's son dying last year and Reggie Wayne loosing his brother this year.It would be wonderful to see those two men have some professional happiness. And then there is the story of Peyton Manning having a chance to finally win the big one (even though beating the Patriots in the biggest comeback in AFC history is pretty sweet!)
I unfortunately do not follow the Bears as closely but I do know they want to push off the mystique of the 85' Bears and win another championship for their city.
Anyhow does anyone have any thoughts on this, is it still something that even casual fans watch or has it become overhyped? Or do some just watch to see the commercials?
Well anyway that my thoughts in a nutshell about the whole thing. All I have left to say is GO COLTS! :fangirl:

It should be a good game thought I don't like both team. I'm a 49ers fan.

 Gee guys I don't even really know how to respond to those two posts.
To answer your question Tidus Blankety, yes the Superbowl is always played on a Sunday. As for you thinking all the "big stuff" happens at the first two minutes and the last two minutes well I'll just say that I don't agree with you and we can agree to disagree. Sorry for getting the NFL theme stuck in your head.
Cloud aries: Well it was really hard to read your post but from what I gathered you hate the Bears, don't really like the Colts and think it will be a good game. I don't know where you got your information from as far as how bad a team will beat the other team but the last I heard the Colts were favored by 7. But that is the beauty with sports, anything can happen on a given day so we will just have to wait and see.
Okay well that is all I really have to say on those posts.....anyone else have anything to add?

I don't really care who wins... or rather i'm not rooting for either of them.
I've always been all for the Seahawks. After last season I believe they really deserve a Superbowl win. Last picks and we still made it up there. Everyone said we would get PWNed by the bears but we brought them into overtime. Seahawks are always going to be the underdog, and thats another reason why i like them...
So this superbowl, I'm gonna watch for the commercials and halftime show. =P

Lol, well I'm no fan of Football, but I'll watch it. Its like, the only sports event I'll watch on TV. Everyone gets together and watches the game, so I just go anyways. Its nice to see my older brothers..... screaming and yelling over Football.... Sometimes it gets a little crazy. XD.
I know the Bears and Colts are playing, and I just pick the team I like better. >__<. This year I'm going for the Bears. Colts sound..... weird.
(And, I hope to god the Half-time is gonna be good this year... last year it was the Rolling Stones....-___- no offense to any RS fans here....)

The Superbowl is the final big match of the Football season. The two top teams of the season compete against each other for the championship title.
I'm not a big Football fan, but I do watch the Superbowl. Sorry aerisbolt, but I am NOT rooting for the Colts. Over here in MD, the Colts are deeply hated. If you all remember 23 years ago, or maybe heard about if you weren't here 23 years ago like me, the Colts betrayed Baltimore. They took off in the middle of the night to move to Indianapolis, thus giving us the Ravens (yay!). So if you like the Colts here in MD, you get evil glares for the rest of your life. XD
But I wish both teams like best of luck. But more so to the Bears.

lol, I root for the Seahawks as well, my dad and my grandpa were both fans, so I grew up rooting for them, but I am disappointed that the Chargers didn't make it, I live in San Diego after all. So the ideal Superbowl for me would be Seahawks and Chargers. :D But I'm going to watch it, I've gotten into watching football in the past few years. ^_^
Oh, and I don't have a favorite to win right now, but I'll pick sometime! XD

Ah, so its the main event/final game of the American Football season? I just thought it was a sports league division of something. But I've just read about it Wikipedia and I'm quite shocked at how much advertising costs during the event!

Yeah the Superbowl has become such a marketing machine, it's the only time I catual watch the commericals. This year's I thought overall were very disappointing. There were a few I liked:
The beer commercial with the dog who has a bad day. I thought it was really cute.
The GM commerical with the machine that gets fired. Who knew I could feel so bad for a machine?
I liked most of the Coke commericals, the Black History month one was very nicely done and the video game one really cracked me up.
Also many of the other beer commericals were funny, like the one where the guy picks up the guy with the ax because he has Bud Light.
And of course I loved the game, I wouldn't put it down just from a football game as one of the best ever but I was so happy to see such a complete team effort by the Colts that it was still a very enjoyable game. I was not surprised by all the turnovers since the conditions were poor but I was surprised on how truly horrendous the Bears offense was. True they couldn't get into a rhythm due to the Colt's time management when they had the ball but it was still a really poor performance by the Bear's O.
My favorite moments were the two interceptions in the second half and then Tony Dungy being carried by his football playerson their shoulders with that big smile on his face. I t was topped off by Peyton holding and looking at the trophy. I am very happy for them both and for the team and it's fans. The Superbowl Champion Indianapolis Colts! :fangirl:
