Sign me up! These sequels are getting ridiculous. I just don't see why they can't make some new movies using the traditional animation instead.
You can't forget Fox and the Hound. Now that was a stupid sequel.
Dumbo was also supposed to have a sequel and it had the stupidest plot yet. Thankfully they dropped it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disney used to be really, really great. But now all they can do is put out sequels to their classics, and mooch off of Pixar. Please, Disney. GET SOME ORIGINAL IDEAS THAT DON'T GO STRAIGHT TO VIDEO.

Oh my god, I can't believe I forgot Pocahontas... The worst of them all... it totally made the love story in the first movie meaningless....
I've added the poll, if there are more sequels out there that I've forgotten, just say so!!

Haha, point taken. But for an 8 minute preview, it wasn't too bad. Some sequels I knew were doomed from the beginning. XD
Lynn - January 27, 2007 07:56 AM (GMT)
There was a sequel for Bambi?!
Disney's really gone down the drain. I remember being so excited when I first heard about their sequels, but damn. Didn't think it was possible to be THAT disappointed.
Of the ones I've watched, Lion King 2 felt the best of the sequels (one of those "best of the worst" things). I wanted to throw up during Little Mermaid 2, and I really hated how they handled Zhang in Mulan 2.
Death to Disney sequels indeed! :shoot:

It's about when Bambi was growing up with his dad.
Argh! I totally had a crush on Shang in the first movie, but in the second they made him so ugly and stupid! He was the captain for the Imperial Army for Christ's sake!! >_<
Anti-R - January 27, 2007 08:17 AM (GMT)
Yeah. Bambi TALKED. 0.o;
Anyways.
I hated Mulan 2. Everyone there are idiots. Peter Pan 2 is ok, except I felt Jane was a mary sue. So did whatshername in Hunchback of Notre Dame 2, but this movie is just as bad.
As for Lady and the Tramp, I felt bad for that human family who got all those dogs. I'm having problems with loving one labrador, thank you very much.
I didn't try to see Pocahontas, because of artistic license (she was roughly 14 in the history books, people! It's almost like pedophilia), and Atlantis is a waste of animation.
So yeah, joining.
nyrin - January 27, 2007 08:24 AM (GMT)
Sign me up. I just saw a commercial about Cinderalla III. III. It made me want to cut myself.
Honestly Disney, these sequels only show just how financially desperate you are. It literally makes you the equivalent of a whore.

So..... you're joining?
You know, they try to make the sequels worth something by getting famous celebrities to voice the new characters.
Jennifer Love Hewitt in Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sandra Oh and Lucy Liu in Mulan 2, Alyssa Milano in Lady and the Tramp 2... :/

Wow...I think I hate every sequel of Disney.

OMG!!! I BELONG HERE!!
Its a disgrace that they utterly ruined Cinderalla with a stupid sequal... -___- why.... that was my childhood movie... *cries* And, the sequal of Little Mermaid was retarded, and Mulan two?? *shoots self*
Paladin's Heart - January 27, 2007 06:48 PM (GMT)
And just when I was ranting about that stupid Cinderella III commercial I just saw...
Sign me up, It's not fair Disney has the money to ruin perfectly good fairy tales made to be one shots...I don't want to watch 3900 other stories that have absolutly no relivance to the story, whatsoever. Disney has killed my movie fandom D:
Where's the all of them option!!
Real_Emotion - January 27, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
I'll join cuz RE doesn't like her childhood tampered with. <_<
It broke my heart what they did to disney classics like Pocahontas, Mulan, Fox and the Hound, etc. Those movies were the light of my childhood and to see Disney WHORE them is just terrible. Walt Disney is rolling in his grave with all these disasterous sequals from hell.
I was watching something on Disney about the new Cinderella 3 movie. TIME TRAVEL???!! WTF?? Are they serious?
Rinchan - January 27, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
Here is something that makes fun of Disney sequels (and disney in general) that I saw at an anime con a few weeks back. I think it was an SNL skit. It's pretty funny.

Pocahontas historically really did marry John Rolfe, but never had anything at all with John Smith. Disney tried to be historical, and they ended up ruining a perfectly good love story!!!! :fury:
Kusari Yarou - January 28, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
I liked the Aladdin sequels, Toy Story 2 and loved Simba's Pride. The rest of them blew :tard:

| Pocahontas historically really did marry John Rolfe, but never had anything at all with John Smith. |
Ohhhh, I agree with you about Disney's 'historical' move. Pocahontas waving to Smith in the end spoke volumes...that they would see each other again, this was not the end, they still loved each other. Disney is perfectly fine, modifying other fairy tale stories for artistic license, so why not this one? It's like their love story in 'Pocahontas' was just some fling >.<
'Little Mermaid 2', I just wanted to feed Melody to Morgana XD And walrus-and-penguin Timon and Pumbaa wannabes...at least have some originality!
I never touched 'Mulan 2'...what's everyone talking about? What happened to Captain Shang?
'The Princess Diaries 2'. They breezily explained away Michael, Mia's real love interest in the books, and replaced it with some prince hottie. whose romance with her was teh cheese. "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair"?
And now for the sequel that had me screaming "SACRILEGE!!!"...'The Lion King 1 1/2'!
:is a ticking time bomb:
'The Lion King' was a masterpiece! Reviews once called it "animation's greatest achievement"! You don't DO that to 'The Lion King'!

Disney sequels should be abolished for life. When they messed with my personal favorite movie, The Little Mermaid, I was upset. Like Kusari Yarou mentioned, the writers had no originality for that one. Ursula's sister? Yeah, sounds like a lot of thought was put into that one.
I never really liked Cinderella to begin with *ducks from tomatoes*, but the sequels (soon to be a trilogy if I'm not mistaken XD) made it even worse, IMO.
So yes, please sign me up! I'm a firm believer in stopping at one. :D

And the Disney-Pixar movies are getting old fast. You can only have so many talking animals, with celebrity voice actors, fueled by pop-culture references
Resha - January 28, 2007 03:03 AM (GMT)
Since Little Mermaid and Peter Pan are classics and Disney doesn't own them, they have no right to put a sequel!!!! I think Disney loves to put some "2"s in it.

Woah, how did you just post twice, Kusari?
Anyway, don't be hatin' on my Pixar. *Hugs her copies of Finding Nemo, Toy Story 1&2, and The Incredibles* Everything they do is brilliant! Cars wasn't amazing, but it was still good. I was really pissed when they went back to Disney whose originality is limited to crappy sequels.
Kusari Yarou - January 28, 2007 03:14 AM (GMT)
I tried to edit and I double posted. HOW DID I DO THAT??? :o
I guess I'm just tired of all the CG movies coming out lately, they are all about animals, the creators just go all out to make them look/sound cute, and it shows. Ah okay...it's not just Disney and Pixar who do that :P

... I actually liked the Lilo and Stitch tv series... >.>; But, I did greatly dislike some other disney movie turned tv series. Argh! Tarzan as a wonderful movie! They butchered it with a prequel and an aweful aweful tv series.
I'm not sure if I'm the only one who felt this way, but I disliked how disney re-told some of their classic movies on Kingdom Hearts II. I know some changes are necessary in order to merge their story with Sora's adventures, but I wished they are a bit more accurate. I disliked how they retold Mulan's story. :( It wasn't nearly as touching a it was told in the movie.

I HATED how weak they made Mulan. Wasn't the point supposed to be that Mulan was able to train and overcome all the doubts of others ON HER OWN MERIT?! >_O;
Rinchan - January 28, 2007 08:10 AM (GMT)
The Little Mermaid was by far the worst disney TV series. Ariel is my favorite Disney Princess, but in the TV series, she is sooooooo annoying!
I actually liked Timone and Pumba. It ammused me.
Aladin was just annoying. The entire series was about how he loved Jasmine. And I am pretty sure that it was already made clear in the movie.
Tarzaan, never could bear to watch it.
I actually liked the Herculese TV series too. It was like a dose of crack for me. I was often amused at their takes on the Greek myths.

Yeah, Mulan is my favourite Disney movie. It annoyed quite a bit that they made her so weak in the game. :( Though one thing that made me laugh hysterically was that when Shang-Yu was hiding in the small cave near the village. Yeah, he'd burn down whole village by himself (and some little bee-like Heartlesses). :lmao:

I have no idea what these Disney sequels are, how about you make a list and I'll see if I can add them? Then I won't have to go back and reacquaint myself with all these atrocities. XD
Someone wanted to know how they destroyed Shang in Mulan 2? Well, the big idea in the that sequel was arranged marriages. Mulan, as your quintessential open-minded beyond-her-time heroine, is adamantly opposed to it and believes in marriage for love. Shang is a bit more traditional, admitting that while love was the ideal reason, arranged marriages do happen. Take a guess which side Disney's gonna pick.
I had no problem with them trying to tackle this issue, but Disney did one of the things I hate most-- they made the enemy look stupid, as if somehow sticking them in humiliating situations makes Mulan's case "right". Shang was stupid, plain and simple. He had a host of terrible scenes that made me cringe, he was depicted in his arguments with Mulan as dramatic and hard-headed. All the quiet dignity he had in Mulan was GONE.
Shame, the sequel seemed like it had potential, but the execution was terrible.
I also hated how they paired Mulan's three soldier friends with carbon-copy female versions of them. Ick.
I think they pulled similar crap in Pocahontas 2. I was too horrified watching it to remember much, but I distinctly remember disliking John Smith's character in the sequel. Look, even if he's no longer the love interest, you don't have to write him like scum, okay? :puke:

Yeah, a lot of them came out... weird. Atlantica was the worst handled, I think. SE had already finished Ariel's story in KH1, what the hell possessed them to bring back Ursula again in KH2?! Ariel's stubborn, but shouldn't be stupid enough to follow the same villain twice!

I LOVED some of Pixar's movies (Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Toy Story 1, 2 [and even Buzz's animated movie XD]), but I definitely got lost in the slew of talking-animal-movies that bombarded our cinemas. Everytime an advertisement played, I'd ask my brother, "So this is Madagascar?" And he'd be, "NO, that one played months ago! This is ______!"

Yeah, I almost never watch those. Although I've heard good things about the Hercules spin-off, but I just winced when I saw The Emperor's New School. Ugh, I loved the original movie! It had some of the wittiest dialogue and plain CRACK in any Disney movie (I can't recall a Disney movie that's made so much fun of itself since George of the Jungle), and David Spade's voice was awesome. I don't know who they're using in the spin-off series, but it's just not the same. >_<
And I agree that these spin-offs seem very whorish of Disney. They easily identify the popular points of each movie and build on them. Poor Klunk.
Kuki Prower - January 28, 2007 01:42 PM (GMT)
Sign me up! Disney are getting to unoriginal it is unreal. Enough we splashing out more money on your classic mvoies which really aren't your original ideas and making rubbish sequels out of them all! The Little Mermaid II was definately the worse, its such as shame because Mermaid is my favourite Disney movie. They could of created an original villian, but no its Ursula's sister, but then they could of gave her a different personality, but no she's just a thin version of Ursula. And Melody! Urgh! She's a friggin basket case, I cannot stand her! Plus Ariel should of been the main character in the movie because it has her in the title. Lets hope The Little Mermaid III which is supposed to be about Ariel and her mother isn't as evil as this.
I enjoyed some Disney sequels, the two Aladdin ones and the Tarzan prequel was okay and I am a little interested in Cinderella III as it sounds like it contains some originality.
I am looking forward to "something" of a sequel. Tinkerbell is getting her own movie that will be completely about her and not involve Peter Pan at all so that should be interesting and I am a Tink fan.
By the way, what the heck is The Lion King 1 1/2? Is that The Lion King 3? Its about Timon and Pumbaa's adventures in between the first movie. Maybe the titles were changed when it was released in the UK.
Oh yeah! ZACKXASHLEY FOREVA!!!!! *kills HSM main female Mary-Sue*

I agree with you and Kusari that there are too many animated films out there about talking animals and such, but let's not blame Pixar for that since none of them were made be Pixar. Finding Nemo and A Bug's Life are the closest they ever came to talking animals anyway.
And yes, I'm ignoring the fact that Pixar's going to release a movie later this year called "Ratatouille" that includes talking rats.
